Unprofessional

People are well and truly entitled to their right to be frustrated with how the Fifita/Gibbs situation has panned out, as well as the Blair saga which is now aptly named Episode 4 - A New Hope.

At the end of the day though, we're not the ones responsible for the business decisions at WT, and while it's easy to be critical from the outside looking in, personally I'll just have to keep the faith that the club is doing everything in its power to remain competitive and successful.

I find that pretty hard to disagree with…

I think there are 16 NRL Clubs doing every thing they can to remain competitive and successful. Some just do it better than others.

well yep both balmain and wests befor have been average run clubs now there one big zero together with fonz and humpty we need a mutiny on the bounty

Interesting analogy that Mutiny On The Bounty. Bligh survived and went to bigger and better things whilst Fletcher Christian and the mutineers failed in their post-mutiny endeavors.

There is a lot of talk about the coach and Admin behaving unprofessionally, but what have they done wrong? The adverse media reports have been based on players bleeting and rumour and innuendo stemming from so-called supporters who "know the club cleaner." What is Humphreys supposed to do? Hold a press conference every day with comments like "we have offered Adam Blair $400k for 3 years but other clubs are interested so I hope they don't offer him more than our $420k limit!" Similarly, The bloggers bagging them for signing contracts with existing players then moving them on when a better option presented itself would also whine if the better option fell through and the current players were unsigned and poached. The club has had a bet each way and now appears to be in a position of power in their attempts to boost an underperforming squad. Likewise, If the club announced that Blair had signed but it was subject to NRL approval, the baggers would be on here crucifying them for being unprofessional if the deal was rejected. We must remember that greedy players and their sleezy agents cheapened the definition of a contract and to get ahead, the clubs must now play the same game. That's the way I see it.

Mr Humphreys stated two weeks ago major news would be announced within the week. I'm not that crash hot at maths but time seems to have lapsed. He says one thing and then comes out a week later and says something completely different. In my eyes, that is unprofessional,

He is obvously a good salesman but in terms of running a footy club, the jury is still out. Mind you, if he somehow fixes up this mess he will be a genius

_"Mr Humphreys stated two weeks ago major news would be announced within the week. I'm not that crash hot at maths but time seems to have lapsed."_

Gibbs & Fifita leaving to the Sharks was MAJOR NEWS, announced by the club in the timeframe as mentioned.

If it wasnt, half the forum wouldnt be carrying on like emotional wrecks!!!

Yep, but I think it was implied that the news would be positive.

Humphreys is good at face to face negotiations with current and potential stakeholders. He is obviously an outstanding salesman with a very good ability to speak on his feet and be convincing in his approach.

He has sealed good sponsorships for the organisation. He is obviously good at doing deals.

But, prior to this position, he has never run an NRL team before, and I dare say it is a very dynamic role that is quite difficult for someone who has never done it before.

Hence, he has been caught out lying a lot with his media announcements and comments, including most of what he said at the Wests AGM. Some of the things he has been caught out with make Julia Gillard look honest. He is not good at handling live ongoing issues in a direct manner. If given an opportunity to interview him, I would cut him to shreds. He is not used situations of pressure.

This just comes with experience. If he is still on the position in a couple of years time then im sure he will have this experience.
