Updated Membership Numbers

Last year we were up to 10,000 by the end of February. That would have been helped by being preseason favourites and the strong effort in 2011\. Not sure when they started pushing the "membership is the only way of guaranteeing a seat at Leichhardt" line.

Unless something big comes up, it looks like we will be behind at the start of this year.

Numbers I posted on league unlimited. Thought people here might be iterested.

"Here are some numbers over the last few years that I’ve collected. Not 100% sure of the accuracy but numbers from various newspaper articles and membership threads from previous years. If there are any major inaccuracies let me know and I can fix up. Current numbers are the latest from this thread."

Interesting that only 8 of the teams have increased year on year from 2009 to 2012\. Obviously 2013 has a long way to go.

Have members on here been registering with the NRL 'claim your territory' site? (http://member.nrl.com/)

It is pretty embarrassing that Souths are winning Balmain with only 2 members. We are winning in Leichhardt but only with 3 members.

And casting my eye down Campbelltown way, there are a few suburbs with Wests Tigers logos (Minto (2), Ruse (1) and Raby (3)). But we are losing in Campbelltown (Souths winning with 3) and Leumeah (Souths again with 1).

Pretty every other Sydney club has their heartland pretty well claimed. But we are just not there.

I've added mine for what it's worth. I know it's only a mickey mouse NRL promotion but you've got to admit it doesn't look good seeing those wascilly wabbits all over the map….especially in areas we should be owning!

Yes but it's obviously not working properly. I have entered our 6 in Ryde and its says 3 so it's bollocks

Actually it now says 4\. It indicative of the whole membership numbers being banded around, crap. There is no way the Bunnies have over 20,000 registered paying members. I don't care what anyone says its rubbish.

I know that not enough Tigers out there who go to game regularly are not members and that is wrong. Become a member and support the club and the team.

I can understand why our numbers are a bit iffy after the way WT supporters were kept in the dark during the whole drawn out Sheens debacle, not to mention the blow up from the Heighno/Beau situation.
Really surprised that the Dragons and Rabbitohs have nearly twice as many members as us, maybe they have a stronger fan base in other states as well?
The Sharkies numbers for last year were horrendous, don't know why because they were always going to have a pretty good year last year.

835 members in the last week.

Look I don't see any ads up here for our memberships ads . Could someone possibly post one

I know the Broncos are a 1 club ,1 city entity , but their ad is brilliant on the TV .

Wish I knew how to post it to show you the quality

We have the biggest and widest fan base for sure but just cannot turn them into members….

The club is a quagmire at the moment, and our memberships are expensive for what they are. That's why they are having trouble turning them into members.

Just another thought though, I wonder what our merchandise sales are compared to other clubs? I always see people walking around in the latest Tigers gear in Penrith and I wonder whether while we're down on membership revenue, we could well be up on merchandising revenue compared to other clubs?

I would have to agree that our merchandise sales must be strong as WT gear is seen everywhere.. From stickers on cars to jerseys for young and old… Do you think that the free rides souths and canterbury get at anz stadium allow them to have bloated bumbers as they dont have to wear the stadium costs?

Our 3 ground arrangement is also a hurdle for membership

Canterbury and Souths have an 80,000 seat stadium to fill up, that's why they can afford to offer cheap memberships. We have two boutique suburban grounds which only hold approx 20,000 and as such WT look to squeeze as many bucks as they can out of them.

Merchandising is a year on year revenue stream and probably should count for something as well. Just because you choose not to pay for a $300 membership as you feel it doesn't represent value for money, it doesn't mean you won't spend $300 on jerseys and other merchandise.

Today's tele had an article about memberships. Quoted the Tigers @ 6,665 on the 10 Feb 2012 and 7,951 on the 10 Feb 2013.

So 1,286 more membership than the same time last year.
