@ink & mainly @magpie mania

you guys are both basing your claims on delusional and contrived assumptions with absolutely ZERO proof to back up what you are saying. You manipulate any situation or issue into an argument to suit your agenda.
My post above, on the other hand, is based on factual information that contradicts the negative spin and lies that people like yourselves post on this and other forums to feed your anti-Wests conspiracy theory.

grow up

I wont use the conspiracy theory in this case. just the real 'bad luck' the Wests side has been belted with over the years both well before the merger and after the merger. Just another comedy of errors that tends to lean towards us old maggies fans more than others! Its TV dollars that rule the roost and thats truly all that matters. Hopefully with an independent commission we wont have situations like this.

Again, SCG is a crap place to watch a game from. This Balmain vs Wests argument is pathetic.

I'd be happy to play no more games at the SCG.

Where did WTs ask for the Sunday?
I heard humpty i'viewed this arvo, he didnt say that.
They hoped….all they can do.

At the start of the season I believe Ink.

Every club has a certain number of rquests on what fixtures they would like played when.

The broadcaster is of course under no duty to adhere to the requests

Im surprised Humpty didnt mention it this arvo on 2SM
He only said "due to scheduling weve had to move the Rd 22 Saints game to the SFS" or words to that effect.

Kul= what have I said theats delusional and contrived?
What lies do I post?
Im going on what humpty said TODAY
Please - I'll ask you once again, as youve done before -dont put words in my mouth!
I imagine if I accused you of lying I'd be banned quick smart huh?

Well the second the pathetic humphreys realises this is a joint venture as previous ceos have done the second this pathetic argument is over. :crazy :crazy

Wow….just wow.

All im basically saying is I beleive theres a difference to 'hoping for the sunday game' and specifically asking for one, I dont think clubs CAN request specific days, only venues etc.....broadcasters determine the days all clubs play.

Humpty was interviewd on 2SM at 3-15 today, youd think if they requested the Sunday he'd have said so...he didnt.
The presser stated the same thing.

The move to the SFS in light of 9's decision is a common sense one....lets hope they can do more than hope they get the sunday scg game next year.

Sorry if thats delusional lies and agendas. :unamused:

All up, this is just a tremendous shame.

Would have been awesome to see Summons and Provan walk out onto the SCG and toss the coin.

Let's hope they are around in a couple of years time and we get to actually play at the SCG on a Sunday afternoon and remember the 50th anniversary of one of the most enduring images of rugby league. That photo is the epitome of everything the game represents.

Yes now the person with the real agenda is starting to spread his black and gold wings and yep you guessed it.It aint me or ink hmmmm maybe its….oops thatll do we might get moderated ink in responding to the mud that gets thrown our way

This situation really highlights the problem with letting the TV stations pick the games that they get.

I really beleive that the NRL should be able to sit down at the start of the year and say this has to be played at this time and this game has to be played at this time. I'm not saying that they set out the whole year but certain games should be played at certain times and this is a prime example.

I'm disappoint the club doesn't get a chance to celebrate his History as it would have liked but can understand why they had to move it.

Well lets ALL enjoy the clash in round 22 this year and perhaps WT can try do it again next year in the 'real' NRL annual heritage round in 2012 (around round 5 or 6).

Balmain was specially honoured in the heritage rounds for 2009 & 2010 against Souths so why not gives magpies the special honour for 2011 & 2012.

And for the record, Balmain also played in heritage strip against Cronulla in 2010 at leichhardt.

Magpies strip was worn in 2010 at away games in Newcastle & Brisbane

This is a special game an youre 100% correct.
This should be set in stone at season commencement regardless of FOX or Ch9
Clubs moving games i'state or opposing teams home venues for $$$ reasons is
one thing, celebrating THE GAMES HISTORY such as we are attempting
to do shouldnt be conditional to media organizations.

I would love to see the tigers play in the wests strip on the actual heritage round one year.

Just to clarify, Im not 100% certain on what smeg posted earlier where clubs can request _certain days_….I thought it was only venues, and the broadcasters determined the days.
Im sure WTs wouldve requested Sunday if it was possible, I just dont think it is....which is wrong, but thats the NRL for you

I was under the impression clubs could state a preference of what day and time they play.

I think the club can request one, but obviously in this case Ch9 denied us this opportunity. I believe this was going to happen last year with the Souths game, as it was originally chosen as Monday Night Football before the NRL stepped in and made them swap our game with the 2pm Sunday game to make sure we could use the SCG. Obviously in this case Ch9 didn't want to lose our game to Fox, and hence they chose it first in the Friday night game.

In regard to the actual Heritage Round, again it is the NRL's call, so maybe WT should put in a request to the NRL prior to doing next year's draw to ensure that the WT vs Dragons clash can be in the Heritage Round to ensure we can play this one at the SCG on a Sunday arvo as it should be

Frustrated Wests Tigers boss Stephen Humphreys says moving an iconic game from the Sydney Cricket Ground shows why the NRL needs to reclaim the right to schedule matches.

The Tigers have been forced to move their round 22 clash with St George Illawarra to the Sydney Football Stadium after it was scheduled for a Friday night.

The occasion was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Dragons 22-0 win over Western Suburbs in the 1961 grand final, a match that featured greats Norm Provan, Johnny Raper, Reg Gasnier, Noel Kelly and Arthur Summons.

But the Nine Network's decision to broadcast the match on August 5 meant the club had to revise its plans.

The Tigers believe holding the match at the SCG has been made impractical and the club has had to cancel more than 1,000 young dancers who were to stage a spectacular at the game's former headquarters.

"We and the NRL were keen to host it on the Sunday but at the end of the day we weren't able to convince (Nine)," Humphreys told AAP.

"We are where we are (with scheduling). We've obviously learned some lessons going into the next broadcast negotiations.

"Next time round there would have to be a significant premium paid for us to continue the current practice.

"The scheduling of your matches, for me that's intrinsic to running the game so I'd prefer the NRL to be the body doing it."

Under the current broadcast deal, Nine gets first choice on matches for the high-rating Friday night slot while that network and Fox Sports determine the schedule for the other games.

The current arrangement ends at the end of next season, when a new broadcast deal negotiated by rugby league's impending independent commission will take effect.

The Tigers are determined commemorations of the 1963 grand final, which spawned the famous photo of Provan and Summons that was sculpted into the premiership trophy, will not suffer the same fate.

"Hopefully we'll be able to make that decision ourselves," said Humphreys, the son of former league boss the late Kevin Humphreys.

"It's incredibly important … the photo is one of those iconic images of the game.

"The history is so important and it's incumbent upon all of us to make sure that doesn't get lost.

"I know the NRL were doing what they can to assist us, it's just that at the moment the right to schedule belongs to the broadcasters.

"I don't think we can bemoan the fact that they have their own motives but hopefully next time round we can get control of that back."

Wests Tigers were not forced to move the game at all. Who the hell cares about dancers???

Its a real shame it has come to this and I am surprised the Dragqueens haven't had more to say about it. This isn't about Wests or Balmain, this is about one of the most endearing moments in our games history (Provan & Summons). For Channel Nine to disrespect this as they have is not surprising given the boss is an avid Roosters fans and it also highlights what a joke of an administration the NRL is

Would this happen in the AFL? NO

Having read all of the above posts I fail to see how blame can be sheeted home to Humphreys, the Wests Tigers, Balmain Ryde Eastwood or the NRL.

The culprit is Channel Nine.

Nobody made WT move the game to SFS.
