VOTE: Brooks or Moses

Moses easily. Wouldn't have him as a 7 though, his kicking game is nowhere near good enough. Our general kicking game is the worst in the NRL- we need a half who has an exceptional kicking game, it is too important of a skill in today's game to try to persevere with a substandard kicker of the ball.

I think Brooks has the better skills but Moses possesses better intangibles. Brooks is faster and has a better kicking game plus is a point of difference as a lefty but he is nowhere near as competitive. It would depend who their partner is. I would stick Brooks next to someone like Thurston or Cronk and Moses next to someone like Milford or SJ.

we'll be losing money if we let either of them go.

we've invested way too much in them to just shut shop and walk away. we can't afford to pay them and pay another who may or may not be as good as them. **we made our bed years ago when we let benji go.**

we all hoped they'd turn out to be another joey johns and fittler but i'd settle **IF** in 5 years they're still together but end up like pearce/maloney.

EDIT: we've had a little chance with austin, te maire and maybe even benji back then but we've decided to gamble on these two again and again. we have no choice but to keep going.

Lucky we realised at the time it was only a hammock.

Keep both….

If the unfortunate happened and we had to pick one then I'd go with with Moses only because he is a better leader, talker and defender

Brooks posses better kicking, pace and passing game but I feel Moses isn't too far behind and would excel at 7 with a Cody Walker or Gareth Widdop type at 6 pairing up with him!

I remember way back when Steve Mortimer was first in grade they said that he could not tackle. Friend and mentor, Keith Holman taught Steve to do the necessary and simple things well and this helped his game and impressed selectors as well.

Moses, it only took 10 mins of watching a training session this pre season to validate what I already thought, Moses is a leader!
He was bounding around like a springbok and talking and organising players around him in defence and attack. Always had a ball in his hands and just oozed enthusiasm, while Brooks just plodded along.
I said from day 1 that Brooks is too quiet of a personality to steer men around on the park nothing's changed, his football reflects his personality 'laid back' waiting.
Halves need to be livewires, like a small dog with small dog complex, tenacious, crafty, have anticipation and be able to read and control a game Brooks doesn't.

Brooks waits for the stars to align before he starts playing. Good halves put the stars in line.

Nicely put Tiger. I love the last sentence. Moses for me too. Moses reminds me a bit of Josh Reynolds. They're both tenacious.

I'd keep both of them. Let's be honest they are both overpaid at this point and no club would be stupid enough to try and match what we are paying them.

Assuming they were both off contract I'd offer them a lot less and recruit some other players with the money we save.

The only thing we could do is to tell one of them that he is going to be in Nsw cup for the whole season if he signs his option for next year.
JT seems to like that approach.
My preference to go , would be Moses, as I think that Brooks is better with a different halves partner.

I voted for Brooks because I like his kicking game more.

But Moses definitely tries harder. Even though he sucks at tackling, he gives it his all and never backs down. He went hard at Marty Taupau. He kept running at him even though it's Taupau…

...
Got half way through writing an essay on what Moses does better, his attitude and what not, then I realised I should have voted for Moses.

heres the harsh truth, we should be keeping both and the reason why.
u cannot put two young 1/2s into a side that has no go forward or has no size to defend the kids, also the coach has killed what ever they had as attacking players. if every one stopped jumping on them untill, if ever we get a good set of backrowers and then see how they preform over 6-12 weeks, only then should they be judged. it would also help if we had a better coach to help them.

 Everything that you just listed is JTs roadmap for their success :frowning:

In reality it would be folly to keep both at their asking price.
In fact they NEED to be split up or both will not reach their proper level. They each need an experienced partner.

Moses is my pick

I voted Moses. I'd leave him at 6 and tell him to run a lot more and steal a disgruntled Hastings from the Roosters to improve our defence.

Either one. Correlation doesn't equal causation but they both definitely have had their best games when the other isn't there to stifle them.

Moses

Not that I'm convinced he will be better then Brooks.

But purely because he has more of that belief and inner arrogance that good halves need.

Brooks still seems like a shy child.

We need to try a similar system to the Cowboys before deciding if they can work together. Yes i know comparing them to Thurston and Morgan is silly, and im not comparimg there ability against those 2 guys. What im suggesting is both have certain strengths that work in a similar system to that of Paul Greens. We have one dominant half who likes to be heavily involved, play both sides and is competitive on every play. The other half is quieter, can run good lines and is super fast.

So play Moses as an old fashioned halfback running the show both sides of the ruck with Brooks playing more a Micheal Morgan running role with his nuggety speed. Brooks is surprisingly strong and will get stronger in coming years. I think it will suit both players.

ATM both having equal control or Brooks slightly more control doesnt work.

I voted for brooks ,but I feel Moses is the better option in attack ,but his defence is way too poor for nrl . Opposing teams target him and it works every week .

So we need a centre and a backrower on the right who won't leave Moses exposed. He's officially the smallest man in the NRL at 80kg, and like a lot of halves he struggles with one on one stops against bigger bodies. I don't see Sironen and Naiquama as the best protection for Moses.

Voted for Moses cause I had to - no option to keep both.

Moses is everything you want in a half, he has that talk you need, is more than capable of leading a team around, beautiful passing game, good short kicking game and the long kicking game is slowly improving. In defence he would tackle a rhino - can't always bring him down because of his size, but that is improving as well.

Brooks is more the running type to take on the line - reasonably good long kicking game if he is told where to kick, hopeless short kicking game, not as good in defence as is a bit of an arm grabber, but can tackle when he wants to.

I would rather keep both and play them as ks said above.

People are talking - Hastings. not as good as our two in my opinion, in fact way short.
