VOTE: Brooks or Moses

Went for Moses but, as a few others have said, I believe if used differently they both have good things to offer the team.

People are talking - Hastings. not as good as our two in my opinion, in fact way short.

Yeah well the grass is always greener…he has two critical things that our boys haven't shown enough of - solid defensive ability (he's only missed 6 tackles all season) and composure. He may not have the out and out skill of Brooks or Moses but he's very solid, which is very unusual for a 20 year old in the halves. Plus he's a good goal kicker. I reckon he's every chance of having a better career than either Brooks or Moses, but time will tell.

I'd keep Moses. Sometimes I think Brooks could play poorly until he's 25 and people would still say he needs time. In saying this, I don't get all the disappointment in his defence. I think he's been pretty well overall this year with the exception of those times when he goes for an intercept. It's his lack of attacking ability and poor kicking game that drives me crazy.

Moses for sure. There are whispers that brooks is a poor trainer which would explain a lot. You can't rely on natural talent at nrl level. If there were any attitude issues I would have him playing new cup until his attitude and training improves to what is required.

Moses 7, Lawrence 6, mck in centres, addo Carr on wing, rankin to bench. Nofoaluma given notice to improve.

I don't get the whole Lawrence to 6 idea. A few have suggested it, but he's a back rower now. End of story. We have Littlejohn.

Yeah it's an experiment I could see ending in tears within a few weeks. He just doesn't offer much at all there in terms of ball playing and he's not an elusive runner. He'd just be another battering ram up the guts. It would be a waste of what he could do and it would limit our attack.

King sirro…..I think we are starting to see and evolution in their games to include this. Moses Seems to be handling the role better game manager better while brooks is struggling about what his role is, particularly when we are on the back foot.

Hitting the line and taking on tired forwards at the end of each half might be his go for a while. Adds another dimension to our attack and brings them into the game a bit more. The success of this though depends on us matching them in the forwards and getting an even share of the ball. Our second phase play improved on the weekend as we look for other try scoring avenues with teddy out.
I might be looking at it through rose coloured glasses, but I can see some improvements.

I've been trying to watch Brooks a bit more closely lately. I still think he's a good talent but his decision making/option taking is terrible. He just seems to hit the wrong runner consistently. He needs some serious coaching in reading defences. I'm pretty sure with the right coaching he's going to be a success somewhere.

I thought they both had better kicking games on the weekend. Feel sometimes they are unfairly criticized for this part of their game -often the difference between a great kick and a poor one is the chase and our team continues to be one of the worst at this in the game.

I'm curious to see what people think now.

Two months ago I thought Moses had more upside and would be the better defender long term. However, now I'm starting to think the opposite and Brooks should be the one we hang on to if we can only keep one (Remembering Tedesco will be on a massively improved contract to stay).

IMO Brooks' defense has improved out of sight, and is now leading the NRL in line break assists.

Who'd have thought young players have up and downs over a season and fans reactions change just as swiftly as they start playing better or worse…

Got to agree with you Weststigerman - Looking back on the posts around 20 May and I am sure that the last month of footy will have a few rethinking their vote.
Brooks seems to have been the one to step up, in my view. It's Brooks who has created the line breaks and taken the lead not Moses, Brooks has put the stats on the board.
I am definitely with the fence sitters - I want to keep both and as our pack improves I am positive we will see both of them improve even further.
Lets all hope that we can keep a spine with Teddy, Moses, Brooks and Liddle for many years to come!

Just another quick thought (sorry if I am getting off the topic a bit here) but has everybody noticed how much change there has been in both of them, and the way the team has played generally, since Elijah Taylor joined the squad? Also coincided with Teddy's return perhaps.

Brooks is the better player and has always been. His attitude has sucked nuggets at times but for the past month he has come along fairly nicely. Moses continues to be style over substance.

X2 !!

The poll was floored to start with.

Should have been able to vote to keep both.

Do not see why it has to be either or. They complement each other; having said that there is no doubt in my mind that over time Moses will be THE ONE. Brooks will be good but only a great club player. Having said that, they should both be kept as half the spine with Teddy and Liddle the other half. Yes, they are better with ET and will be even better with Liddle.

We knew it would be "rocks and diamonds" - nothing has changed. A couple of more experienced players would make them sensational. i.e. players who run correct lines, back up and correctly run decoys would give them more options and so increase and improve our scoring chances rather than one telegraphed play at a time.

I have no problem with their defence - it is improving and after another off season it will be be just about right.

Okay, let's end the debate with a vote.
**Hypothetically speaking** - at seasons' end, we had **no choice but to only keep one** of our young halves, which one is it going to be, in your opinion?

Think my post tells you Demps.

Hypothetically - why can't we keep both?
