Wade McKinnon poised to make a comback with WT

I love McKinnon as a player, but seriously, he was a week to week proposition of playing when he was here with us. It was always a huge disappointment on game day when he'd pull out and be replaced by Moltzen or whoever. Can't see how anything has changed, so it will probably end up being a waste of time and effort, as we'll only end up fielding the same team we have now anyway, most weeks.

How long does he get until we determine if he's ''no good''?
3, 4 , 5 weeks?
We will be way past mid season then and we'll be still stuffing around with the 1,6,7,9

Its regressive…not progressive...someone mentioned it as depressing...spot on :brick:
 
Ok assume his Hammy's are up to scratch..who would you prefer at FB Moltzen or McKinnon…no brainer...but what about Simona who is killing them at FB in NYC.

+1 I remember Simona came in for a game or two last year and didn't look that bad.

I hope Humble gets a few more chances at halfback before they put Moltzen there. Everyone knows he is rubbish at that position.

If he comes at little cost then there isn't much lost having him around, because if he strikes good form and solves the fullback problem then the club will be much better off at little cost, if he fails, then providing the club paid a small amount for him, not too much cash has been wasted. He has a lot of first grade experience the club might be willing to take the risk (according to the article).
 
Did everyone miss the last paragraph. "It's understood sheens has not been approached about the move…" so in other words, it's a rumor being spread that probably has little or no traction.

I'd have him back … Who knows what the future holds with regards to injuries.
How much depth do we have in the FB position ? If something happens to Moltzen, then you have to shuffle the deck again.
 
I dont mind McKinnon but I can't believe we would be considering him for several reasons which are all pointed out in this thread.

1) What Message does this send to young guys playing well like Koribete? That your playing well but in the matter of 30 seconds a 32 year old fullback who probably isnt better than you can sign and just jump you in the pecking order.
2) We already have the slowest back 5 in the comp, eliminating our quickest player for possibly the slowest is laughable.
3) There are plenty of decent players through NSW Cup etc like Gagai, yet we go for McKinnon???

I AM SICK to death of seeing the same guys trialed time and time again. Why not take a risk and see how someone different goes. If it doesnt work it doesnt work, if it does it can put us on a road which could change the dynamic of our side.

You think the fullback options we have already tried have worked??????????????

I don't think McKinnon will go any worse than the rubbish Moltzen has dished up so far this season. We will be no worse off seeing what he can contribute to the team.

Agree. He is an interchange player at best.

McKinnon got dropped last year , not because of his hammies but because his form went off.
He was replaced by Moltzen and we went on a winning streak.
I quite like McKinnon and don't think he's as slow as everyone makes out but you would have to worry about him getting on the field every week playing harder games in the NRL.
Obviously I am in the minority but I still think Moltzen will go well at half and if McKinnon comes cheap give him a crack - at his best he is a quality fullback.
If he doesn't stack up it will cost peanuts.
 
thats right, he had a shocker against the Bulldogs - We had no Benji Marshall that game either -

We were in that game for most of it, then Wade spilled two fairly tough kicks, which the dogs directly scored two tries off.

If Moltzen actually plays Halfback instead of poncing around behind Benji like a lost puppy we'd be a threat.

The bits i've seen of him actually taking the line on and looking for gaps have been really good. The "catch-and-pass" to Benji so he can do something - not so good.

CK The one thing we need is a halfback

If Moltzen is the answer why isn't he playing their now

Why ?? Because he was garbage at it
Ryan could be fullback

If we have to have Moltzen in the side he is better at fullback than halfback

Exactly. I can't believe we are heading down this path when we have Miller available. Look at Sezer for the GC - he is going well and only 20yo - why can't Miller be given the same latitude? Sheens gave Lui plenty of time to find his feet and it was a good combination with Farah and Marshall but is unwilling to do so with Miller, if it is an attitude thing Sheens is cutting off his nose to spite his face - he should be selecting what is best for the team, end of story!

Happy , the reason he's not playing there now is because Sheens won't play anyone else at fullback.
He tried Humble there who couldn't handle it so moved Moltzen there again based on his performances at the end of last year.
He's only played a few games at half this year and our pack was totally dominated in each of those games so you can't say he's garbage .
I still think Sheens will move him there eventually - you must remember all his talk at the start of the year about it .
