It seems to me that Penrith are trying to "control the narrative" by saying he got a big head being captain of NZ. Which is the opposite of what most clubs say about having their players play rep.

An awful lot has gone wrong at Penrith in the last 6 months, and very little of it has anything to with Dallin.

That’s a mighty big call. Difference is he is having a bad first few games to a season Nofa has been doing it for years.

If Mbye is on 700k, Nof on 420k, Jennings on 400k, you'd have to think DWZ would get at least 500k. Wouldn't pay more than that for him though. Also a maximum of a 3 year deal. None of this 4-5 year rubbish. He's had some injury issues, 2-3 years is fine!

Maybe if we offered Packer+Nof for DWZ i'd be happy. That's a million out of our cap for a decent player hopefully on 500k and 500k to spend on others. Surely Ivan isn't that stupid though?

Yeah sadly that's not how it works - you can't just give other teams all your lousy contracts in return for their good ones. The possible up side is that if Penrith really think they can't get any more value out of DWZ and therefore he's nothing other than 600k of dead money, they might be willing to pay some freight either by taking a crap contract off us or by eating some of DWZ's money. We can't just say "here's some players, let's swap".

Correct. Players in question have to want to leave as well.

He was very ordinary that night, he had plenty of mates as well though.

But DWZ is on a lousy contract over there. He's reportedly on 750-800k which is crazy. I'd offer him a 3 year $1.5 million deal with a fen bonuses thrown in regarding tries etc. They can top up the next 1.5 years of his contract to make up the difference between his contract and Packer's so it's effectively a clean swap.

If they just happen to want ET then they can have him, with nothing in return for us except cap space and a roster spot.

I think both ET and Packer are happy to go.

Honestly if Packer was deserving of first grade, I'm sure the coach would have him playing first grade. And for a guy on that sort of money to be in Reserves, he should be embarrassed.

Swap makes sense, getting rid of Packer makes sense, getting rid of Packer and getting a decent player, how does that not make sense.
