Wayne Bennett

I heard on 2KY this morning that Wanyne bennett has also been linked with the tigers. Now i dont know how much truth is behind this but TK seemed fairly sure we were in the hunjt with the knights and broncos as apparently souths have dropped out. If sheens was to retire he would be a great replacement.

I think t k is on drugs & sheens will sign with us in the next couple of weeks, & would rather sheens as our coach then bennett, but thats just my own opinion.

Sure… Just put together the $2mil a year to match Newcastle and it could happen.

Also hell may freeze over on opening game day and Lord Lucan will take the opening kick off...

Doubtful Matty.

I don't think Sheens will let the opportunity to win a premiership go with the talent pool he has built up over the last few years, and I can't see us competing with dollars against the likes of Tinkler and Thoroughbreds for Bennett.

Yeh CB i agree i was just letting people know what i heard. i am very happy with Sheens and would love him to re sign with us and always thought he would finish his career with the mighty tigers

We'd be fools not to place an offer to Bennett but he is going back to Brisbane . Son and wife not happy down there and probably wants to retire as Broncs coach now that board members he was not happy with are gone imo .

He is saying that he has no idea where he'll be next year, but that he is leaving St George for 'the challenge, not the money. If it was about the money, I'd be staying here.' … Won't discuss which clubshas spoken to. He said if he has to be away from his family for another 3 years, so be it.

What a bazzaar Press Conference… Why wouldnt you just release this via an official memo???

As to Uncle Wayne coming to Tiger Town, NO THANKS!!!

Are you insane if i was the ceo i would happily have wayne bennett coach the tigers just imagine what he could do our side, he could win us a premiership. If he can do it for st george than i'm sure he could do the same for us.

We already have won a premiership, and was 1 point from playing in our 2nd decider 6 months ago :crazy

hes going back to brisbane to mentor lockyer we cant match there money or newcastles but we can offer benji and robbie and the style of play everybody loves

Its an interesting situation because we really dont know whats going on in the background. If Bennett is going back to the Broncos you would expect it be announced sooner rather than later.

In the back of my mind however I just get this feeling that after coaching the Broncos for over 20 years he wont go back (I am well aware of the family situation).

I reckon he will go to the Knights.

I dont think Steve Price is a certaintly to get the Dragons job, no offence to him but he was an ordinary player and is much too young and experienced imo (didn't they learn from the Brown years?).

So plenty of interesting scenarios.

SOme of the best coaches were ordinary players and some of the best players turned into ordinary coaches.

whilst TK may have sources, i have no respect for the guys opinion on rugby league. watching him on the sunday roast he's a goose.

very true. they are 2 completely different roles to play.

Also comes down to playing roster . Some guys who may or may not have been great coaches and were good footballers end up with hopeless rosters .and vice versa Wally Lewis would be 1 that comes to mind at NRL level

I will be having a few bucks on the dragons going down hill from here.

The comp is very evenly matched, i think 1 to 5 percent drop in intensity / enthusiasm is enough to derail a team. The players are human and in some deep corner of their being they have to be a bit disappointed / let down / betrayed. I'm sure a lot of them were doing it for Uncle Benny as well as themself and the club.

Just my two bobs worth.
