We could be third after this week

Golden, Judging by your Avatar, I'm presuming your team are the Balmain Tigers?

Well, brother, the Tigers have survived and are still flying the Balmain Flag every winter. They are playing in the NSW Cup, a competition run by the NSWRL, just as they did in 1908\. Nothing has changed. Balmain are still playing and you can keep supporting them for many years to come.

Balmain also have shares in a Franchise in the NRL. As the NRL is a national competition, and the fact YOUR Team formed a partnership with the Western Suburbs NSWRL Team, they will continue to play in a National Competition run by the Independant Commission. Whether the Wests Tigers Franchise can survive in a saturated marketplace, time will tell. But if the Franchise believes we are a greater chance of increasing our revenue by relocating, I'll still support them and look forward to meeting new Fans we form by increasing our target market.

It's good to hear Balmain still play every winter, and I'm glad you also support the Wests Tigers in the NRL.

its not working there is a difference between a good comp and a close comp.. having said that no cap would mean Storm v Broncos Grand final every year like the EPL the same 4 teams would be up

It is only Sydney people who think this!

Why? They are scared 'their' team won't survive expansion, so let's have a Restriction to keep us in the comp.

The Independent Commission WILL expand the Competition and it WILL cull Sydney Teams…

do you have any idea what theproposed independent commission actually is? It will basically guarentee that no club will ever get cut. This is one of the reasons the qrl hasn't backed it.

That is partially correct for the initial formation, the acquisition of the 17th and 18th franchise. But from there, the Commission will work on what's best for ALL teams, not just the Sydney Power Base. If you get the chance to talk to Searlie, he will tell you Relocation and restructure of the Salary Cap is inevitable to ensure the long term viability of a National Competition.

By the way I'm from Sydney and I feel the comp needs to grow.
If we dont grow, the competition will just contract and slowly die, forward thinking is needed.

I think of it this way, there's an established, local supermarket. Suddenly Woolworths move in across the road, what happens? Everyone starts going to Woolworths because they have more products, more money and so they are cheaper. What happens to the local supermarket? It dies. If the local supermarket grew and had some more locations, then maybe it could of grown even bigger.
Thats what is going to happen to the NRL if nothing is done, the AFL, who is a bigger organisation with more money (Even more after the TV deals because they will have 18 teams compared to 16) will move into NSW, they will steal our kids, bombard us with promotion, slowly get stronger and stronger as their money grows and slowly kill the NRL off as it slowly contracts through not expanding.

so its all about money??? I guess it has to be look what happened to music.. just because something sells more (like AFL) doesn't make it the better game to watch… I don't think everybody thinks Justin Beiber is the best singer in the world.. so bascilly crap sells

True…

The AFL will be successful in Sydney and will take a lot of supporters over 10 years away from the current football clubs in the region. Then where is the revenue gona come from?

FTR - Western Reds didn't fail. When they were closed down by News. A franchise will work over there, it just needs a good financial business plan to ensure it can survive the first 10 years. The best way to achieve this is to relocate a financially strong and competitive NRL Franchise. They will keep 30% of their current fan base, and will be adopted by their new local envirenment. Within 5 years, they will probably earn more revenue than most Sydney clubs...

It is Golden. Rugby league is Tribal, but that relates to Balmain, Newtown etc. The NRL is about money if it is going to survive in the national sports arena, it must expand it's target market.

AFL wil only be a scuess in sydney if their teams are doing good.

are Western Reds playing in the NRL??? NO they arnt so they failed. the Adelaide rams were getting awesome crowds of 2k and people think 10k for sydney games is bad

If you factor in Bye's ect., we are still only coming 7th.

Let's brag all week and enjoy the limelight for a change. As fans of this Team, we deserve it…

Watto…just when I start agreeing with ya....I remember your a Queenslander......

Cull the Sydney teams ....right......Of course what happened to the SQ Crushers and various other incarnations of the Gold Coast...Poor old Broncos couldn't bear to have a whole state with more than 3 teams....affect the dynasty wouldn't it...With News continual pull out be interesting to see how the Cowgils survive....the management will propbably eat each other or go down the Storm route to survive

Get rid of the stinking Storm ....New franchise on the Central Coast...stablise the code in it's Sydney Strong hold....then maybe look at expansion with the strong to medium servive...the riff raff perish...or merge..

Wests Tigers francise and the management we have in place now will ensure it's renewed come 2012.....

202 years of history not likely to die ever.... :sign:

Top 4 whooooooo......

You can't factor in Byes not yet had as we will be playing those weeks and also have an opportunity for 2 points.

We are in a good position and we need to solidify it.

Canberra will be hungry and it will be a physical clash and that rolls a very short turnaround for a Dragons side that is also physical.

After that our spacing between matches becomes much better and if we come away from these two matches with one or two wins we are in a pretty good position moving forward

I'm confident we can beat the Dragons, last year we played like U'12s and they hardly put us away and this year they've got some injuries and it's during origin period as well…

I'm also near certain will knock off Canberra.

I feel we will finish 2nd or 3rd this year. The draw doesnt look too great in the last 4, but there is plenty weighing in our favour. Its the teams below us that have the challenges when you look at their draws.

Canberra will be hungry, but for them to beat us, they need to play our style of football. At the moment, we are better. 2 Points.

You reckon we can get the Dragons Smeg? I'm not fussed either way, as I reckon we will win the following 6…

If we get the Dragons, plus the 6, we can actually finish Minor Premiers!!!

Scary Thought if your a Sheens hater
