For mine Ricky Stuart is far too intense to be a successful club coach. His players are mentally fatigued and frightened to make mistakes (which is a self fulfilling prophecy). I am not sure what the powers that be see in him. I suppose he talks the talks but he bores the shit out of me after about 2mins.
That said he did inherited a basket case and best not bag the guy too much until we see what he can do in the next couple of years. Yes Canberra are off their heads to offer him a long-term contract. They are probably in a panic, want to address their discipline issues and have seen what a coaching and culture change has done for the brumbies.
I reckon Jim Dymock is the best of the next tier of coaches, can't understand why he hasn't been snapped up yet. Hopefully Potter may have his eye on him.

I'm friends with a player at Parramatta. Obviously I'm not going to name him, but he bounces between Reggie's & Firsts. Depending on Ricky's moods.
By all accounts, Ricky is a very arrogant man. I'm told he has no hesitations in completely degrading a player in front of the team. He loves his big name players. Players that don't necessarily need to be coached. So, being Parramatta that doesn't leave many.
Rather than do what he is paid big money to do and further develop players skills wise, he acts more as an overseeing coach. As in a mentor for the Haynes, Reni's etc.
Not many like playing for him.
He sacked half the squad mid-year & then expected them to put in for the remainder of the season.
If rumours are true, the Raiders offer is brain dead and a disaster waiting to happen.

It didn't really matter whether the spoon went to the Dragons, Tigers or Eels, they were all worthy spooners this year, with an honorable mention to Brisbane as the year's biggest disappointment given their roster. Perhaps they could have their own four way finals series in september in a wooden spoon shoot out.

Way back in 1970/71 I think the Cronulla club promoted the Endeavour Cup for teams that missed out on the final 4, would be interesting to see the bottom 4 NRL teams play the bottom 4 ESL teams to judge the difference in the standard of the competitions in this day and age.
