The problem is that because the 2nd tier cap is spent he can't select anyone outside of the top 25.

That means no JAC, no Felise, no Liddle and probably no Chee Kam or JLJ.

I think you will find, JAC, Chee Kam and JLJ are all top 25.

I'm not sure about it because the 17 we have playing atm are definitely top 25\. Add Farah, Sironen, Hunt, Ballin, Cherrington, Milone and possibly Heleta. That's 23-24 out of the top 25.

Surely Milone wasn't top 25? I would've thought Littlejohn and MCK would be at the bottom end of the top 25\. Littlejohn is a good quality backup half and the only other backup half we have is Rankin (since Drinkwater was released).

Milone definitely top 25\. He was last year too

The best team has been picked the last 2 weeks with two wins what part of this do we all not get!

You are surely kidding, JT cranks on about cohesion, how the hell do you have cohesion when the secondrower playing hooker needs a rest, we then see the winger to hooker, secondrower to centre, centre to wing to allow this.
What a joke, and Rankin can have how many bad games before the accountability kicks in, it is clear as day this accountability thing is only for a select few.
And no coach in their right mind has a 17 with no hooker, sure we beat a saints side who average 13 points a game and a parra side who have more players unavailable than they do available, we should have taken this opportunity to try and fix our bad F/A the last 2 weeks.
We are not picking our best 17 on form, accountability or cohesion. :crazy

"not picking our best 17 on form"???

The team has won the last two or three in a row. Pretty good form. Both lower grade sides lost this weekend. So, no outstanding form there.

I guess there are a couple of options. Rankin, Littlejohn or Hunt to halfback or Moses to halfback and Lawrence to 5/8\. Rankin to the halves and Hunt to the wing.

The Coach will decide, as he should.

Col we need a hooker in the 17, we cant shuffle 3 players to let our makeshift hooker have a rest, and Rankin is not in our best 17

Surely noone would honestly think Rankin is in our top 17..

I'll be surprised if Farah doesn't play. Tall order to beat the Cowboys and if we lose - can almost guarantee it won't be the fault of the coach , and if we win he will be a genius.

Rankin was having a pretty good game yesterday and then it all seemed to go pearshape.

Hard to understand some coaches, Sheens and his Fitzy love for years on end drove me absolutely bonkers

Me too, could never understand the love for Fitzy, especially at 5/8th, now we are doing it all over again with Rankin. :bash

I must say Edwards defence has impressed me over the last two weeks, especially last week against the Eel$

All I know is that Thurston plays, we will lift another gear but if he is ruled out again our mindset will be relaxing which is dangerous as they are a good team as it is

I just hope JT doesn't play Rankin at DH for a 5 to 10 minute stint and shifts Lovett to centre, we will get absolutely slaughtered

I hope JLJ comes into the 17 and steps up to the plate, just do the little things right and let Moses do the bulk of plays

Dump on Tayor and now dump on Rankin. Why?

Rankin has been playing out of position this year and has done a reasonable job. Takes bombs ok., tackles ok, has not let in any tries because of his mistakes, scored a few tries and kicked some goals.

What's not to like.

Not to many others in the lower grades would be as good. I would like to see Heleta in first grade, just to see how he goes. Carr is going to Melbourne and anyway, his form has been nothing to write home about.

All in all the side is going ok. Enjoy.

You must have been watching a different game the last few weeks, Col.
Rankin has been atrocious - hasn't really done anything positive since coming back into firsts.

Rankin does my head in Col! For a player who was a teenage rising star, just does not seem to have a natural footy brain a lot of the time. Some of the dumb things he does and mistakes simply don't make sense to me. He's certainly the modern day Fitzy in some ways, but I actually think Fitzy had more footy nous…

You are right about the lower grades though. In the games I've seen (courtesy of TV) the only players that seemed to be busting a gut every time have been Edwards and Heleta. So it's good to see Edwards get a gig and his defensive efforts are much better than the beginning of the year.

Based on that, instead of Rankin I'd be happy to give Heleta a crack on the wing. I don't know much about him but seem to remember other forumers saying he has played wing before.

Apart from that and the lack of hooker, it's our best team ATM.

Nah, can't agree with you Snake and, with respect, it's not a case of 'not getting it' as you put it. We are all entitled to our opinions and we each believe we are right. Rankin's form has been very poor the last couple of weeks, Lovett provides no impact off the bench and we need a real back up dummy half/ hooker. For these reasons I have suggested that JAC be brought in, Felise inserted in place of Lovett and Littlejohn brought into the squad as back up hooker or half. However, I must admit, in the 'Your Team' thread, I changed my mind and included Rankin at five-eighth as he is probably the best replacement option in the halves…...

I think it's obvious that the team should be changed if we are looking to play the best footy that we can. I think picking Robbie is a no brainer. Rankin should probably also be replaced by JAC.

We beat a very poor dragon team and a under strength eels team, so lets not get carried away with our team. They need farah this week because he is probably the best player in our club, its that simple. Should be a massive crowd with heaps of atmosphere, just send Robbie out there for one last horay

I remember vividly 2005 when we were all hating on Fitzhenry and rightfully so(he did suck). But then towards the finals, he drank some magic kool-aid cause when the team rose he rose with it.
