We Need A Centre

Milne is one of the best up and coming centres as is Suli.
Marsters was very good for a rookie also. I think we need a big tall winger/centre ala Rona. We need a finisher and an aerial option for Brooks.

Ive noted next year that we lack a well established experianced centre, even though Marsters has been doing a great job he is a fill in and should be our 13 next year IMO. Suli is still raw and should have one spot so that leaves Milnne who is a fringe 1st grader at this stage & Fresh Prince who reads defence & defends like Helen Keller at times, but i think we need to make a play for Josh Morris, he is on the table & would be a great fit as he is great defender and we need that out wide, plus he has big game experiance and would really show Suli and co the way forward.

Glad your not the recruitment officer or the coach.

Marsters at lock?
Morris (Well past his use by date) in the centre?

Suppose you play Taylor in ISP, Eisenhuth in ISP ….?

Marsters is a backrower champ and has been playing centre to fill the void this yr. Id have Taylor, McQueen in 2nd Row, Marsters at lock and Eisenhuth off the bench. As for Morris he defends better than anyone we have and he is 29.

I shouldnt be recruiting or coach….with your comment you wouldnt be allowed to cut up oranges with a sharp knife at half time

Rona is tall or big compared to Vunivalu or Tupou

Josh Morris is getting on and has massive degenerative knee problems. He is as slow as a wet week. Chris Lawrence would bring as much and is being paid under the long serving player allowance

He is a better defender than anyone we have next yr and the outside defence is our weakest element

How good has Marsters been ? Do we really need another centre. Suli, Marsters, Milne and Kev to me sound like a pretty decent bunch of players. We may also have another young player come on.

I'd like a JAC type winger but our squad looks pretty solid next year.

I honestly think we need to see how we gel next year and then go to market.

Marsters is a backrower and filled the void at centre this yr due to injury

Marsters has been fantastic and deserves to start at centre next year. Suli was great at the start of the year and should continue to develop. Kevin and Milne are good back ups.

Marsters is not a centre and has only played centre due to injury he is a backrower and will be there next yr

When I first saw the title of this thread for some reason I thought it was about a Centre of Excellence. Now that is something WT really needs.

That is in the works ive seen the plans it will be at concord oval looks good probably 2 or so years off

Yeah okay. Good luck with that…

We heard you the first time! I don't think we can with certainty predict what Cleary will do next year. I've always thought of him as a forward but he's surprised me with how well he's done at centre. He may still wind up in the centres. Too early to say I'd suggest.

6'4 and 102kgs he's a big lad and good in the air.
Vunivalu and Semi are freaks of nature he's not on that level but I hope he's one of the two players we sign.

People have forgotten how good Fonua was at centre for the Storm. He would be very strong in the centres with Suli and a great example for him,

If Fonua can play centre, I'd be happy for MWZ to stay on the wing. If he keeps playing like he did last night against the Warriors he'll be hard to drop.

Defensively he's a worry (MWZ)

We don't need a centre
At this joint venture
Instead we need a speedy winger
Who will put the zinger on the ringer
We need a speedster, a slayer
Who will beat every other player
Like a bullet flying through the air
So teams can be aware
We need a winger travelling the speeds of Aries Merrit
That no-one else will inherit
We needs a no.5 who will shoot past the others way ahead
With more firepower than a nuclear warhead

Everyone keeps saying that but he has been more than solid and was playing in the centres in ISP before his call up. I believe the club see centre as his position for now

My 2 bob.
Starting back 5
1\. LoLo
2\. Nofo
3\. Fonua
4\. Suli
5\. Milne.

Having Nofo and Fonua on the same side tightens up that defence and gives a 1, 2 punch getting out of our end without having to run across field to meet up with the other wingers.
If anyone watched much of Fonua in SL this year you'd see he made a heck of a lot of metres and post contact Meters from dummy halve runs.
Milne would make a good winger!

I think everyone is definitely underrating Milne. He was one of the best players in his age group coming through and a few off field dramas set his development back. I think if he will be our first choice centre next year.

If people think that lolohea is overweight, wait until you get a look at Fonua. I'd be surprised if he isn't pushing 115kg after his return from injury.

I think Fonua could develop a bit of a cult following, but like some others I have reservations that we have too many of the same type of players in the back 5 next year. Even given that situation, Its miles ahead of having blokes like Rankin, Akouala or Patterson on the wing like we have had in the past.

I have no problem leaving Marsters in the Centre's next year…

Nicely written mate.
But mentioning the zingers now got me hungry…

People talking up Fonua, talking up Milne, talking up Marsters, talking up Lolo and we still have Nofo and Suli. Talking about adding a new player to the mix as well (plus we still have Kev, MWZ, and a few others).

Seriously, Coach Cleary has a few options to choose from, and they all seem pretty good. Best news is, if Plan A doesn't work, then we got a Plan B and Plan C already waiting and raring to go.

This is going to be the longest six months ever… hurry up already Round 1 2018.
