We need a clean out.

This story by Roy Masters seems to sum up the current background to the Joint Venture.
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/wests-unite-as-joint-venture-remains-anything-but-cosy-20130305-2fioa.html

I have been posting on this Forum for years, that the biggest problem Wests Tigers has to solve is the Joint Venture. There does not appear to be any responsibility taken by any of the board or employees of the Joint Venture for reaching a level of achievements in their job to guarantee the success of the entity. The CEO, who tried to set Key Performance Indicators for employees, was sacked by the board.

The only solution I can see is the formation of a limited company, where all of the stake-holders, employees and players have to meet minimum levels of success or they are removed. Wests Tigers shares should be available to the fans, so they have a financial interest, if they wish.

The problem is there arnt enough good players around these guys to get the best out of them….

When we are on, these guys you want rid of are world class... but they cant do it all.... esp not at the moment they are all covering way to many players on the field....
and to replace them with morgan, pomeroy and tolman please.... these guys are just there at nrl level...

just be patient we have allot of great young players learning off these guys every day they are at the club.

I dont think we need a huge clean out ..I am happy with the boys coming through as long as they are properly coached..There are some players who will go..but not too many because we cant afford too much.

We have lost some players we may have wanted to keep ..so the story is ..who is in charge of keeping the GOOD young players coming through ? Can we TRUST them ..that is management ..?

I don't believe we need to dump as many players as you think

If I was Potter, of the players you've mentioned, I would:

Definitely Keep: Benji and Galloway
As we saw on Sunday, our attack severely diminished without Benji's presence. Yes, he's erratic, but it seems we've already forgotten he had the most try assists last year. The forum has also been screaming out for more props, so it's probably not a great idea to offload our starting prop when we're already as thin up front as we are

Probably Hold on To: Ayshford, Lawrence
These two had a dud year last season, but they have too much potential to let go. Both are still young, and they are not completely to blame for their lack of form in the past 18 months. Centres need good service from their halves if they are to perform. If they get a dud balls from their half, not even Jesus can make anything happen. Plus, we got glimpses of Ayshford's old form returning in the Saints and Melbourne games, and Lawrence is still an asset in attack, just going about his work quieter than he used to.

Punt: Moltzen
Good God, don't get me started. I wouldn't have him peeling oranges for reserve grade

Match Payments: Tuqiri
His career is over, but he is a good mentor for our young wingers coming through and provides some depth in the case of an injury crisis

Give the players a season under their new coach before we start calling for their heads. Please

Ben Pomeroy - Another good player…Yes he has his critics but hes aggressive, can offload at will and runs hhaarrddd!

Sorry mate I had to stop reading here. Ben Pomeroy is a first-class muppet, custard, coat, battler, gumby footballer.

Disagree completely with cleaning out at this stage completely. Yes a player or two could be let go but a complete team clean out for the sake of it is useless. Look at Penrith. You need to buy smart. We have the players coming through. We need to develop from within rather than buy buy buy.
Let Potter have a chance to work his magic on the players we already have, most are here for a few more years anyway.

Maybe I wasnt clear enough…..I wasnt suggesting we sack players and pay them out, hence I mentioned that Benji is signed through to 2015....Despite the comments on the thread, and some of you make some great point both for and against my suggestions, I still think we need these players gone....Some this year and the rest when their contracts are up. Surely we cant re-sign these guys after years of underperforming....

Benji - Im getting tired of hearing that Benji had the most try assists last year...so what! Show me some stats on how many times he handled the ball compared with other playmakers and lets see a percentage of handles/try assists....then we can compare the amount of mistakes he's made....we cant get stats on how many kicks he's put in that, technically isnt an error, but has landed in play but went dead or into touch when he tried to keep it in. then lets consider the poor options and bad passes that led to others making the mistake...My point is stats don't after tell you the full story....Benji is a burden on our team. If Benji is the key to the team and should be kept at all costs, how do you explain OTHER teams consistently performing better than us and finishing on top of us? Why are we really never in contention anymore? Maybe Benji is not the be all end all player that some of you think he is. How do other teams do it without him? Other teams have halves that maybe don't have the freakish talent that Benji has but they're obviously have something that is getting better results....They are more structured, consistent and work together better (5/8 and halfback) than what Benji does with whoever is his halfback partner. Benji's a hog!

I would much rather, I'll say it again, when his contract runs out, go with a young halves pairing of sironen and miller. That is the future!

LoL…Its ok to disagree....but what makes you think Im suggesting a clean out "for the sake of it" ....If I didnt provide any explanation at all for any suggestion I made, then fair call, I'll cop that but Ive given explanations for each player you knob!

I've suggested buying a couple of players but I've also said we have great juniors coming through and mentioned quite a few props in addition to talking about Simona or another junior in the centres....Whos saying cimply buy buy buy?

Before you answer a topic, make sure you READ the topic....Nobody should call anyone a fool for having an opinion. If you think differently than me, then fair enough. All good...But when you criticise me on things I didnt say then you are a grade A fool!

Oh and Ill add that I suggested playing Sironen and Miller in the halves…...hence NOT BUYING a player for thsoe positions as well....

SUUURREEELLLYYYY, you can expect the club to buy SOME players.....lol

or in your world, Anthism, maybe just play our best players and as they all retire or get injured over time, replace them with all juniors and have a team of all under 20's.....cause God forbid, we buy buy buy ....lolol

IDIOT!

No idea where the hell that came from. I was disagreeing with you. I didn't bring up name calling but I'm not and "idiot" so I won't retaliate and name call. Calm down mate I'm entitled to disagree just as much as you are able to write a thread like this. I didn't call you a fool, how fricken ironic of you to then call me an idiot…

Maybe you should read what I said?
I said I disagree in a complete clean out. Penrith have bought a ridiculous amount of players since Cleary has come in and look where they are at this stage.
I don't think it's a good idea to come to a conclusion like this whilst Potter is 6 weeks in to his first season.

And yes ill stand by my "for the sake of it" for the reason stated above that we haven't seen any of the players you wanted to drop under a full season of Potter.

IT'S AN OPINION STOP TAKING IT SO PERSONALLY!

all we need is one good prop, and two tall rangy backrowers like , procter and harris, the club has the rest in the lower grades waiting to come into 1st grade.
I dont think the people who make the decisions in this club have the brains to work this out, and we will continue to buy small backrowers and second grade props.

Benji is a burden? Gee, he makes some mistakes, but I think last Sundays game alone proves he is much more of an asset than a liability.

Besides, when his contract runs out, he will most likely retire anyway, and we have plenty of talent in Miller, Brooks, Siro and Mitch Moses coming through to replace him. But that's three seasons away.

haha, sironen miller. Give me a call when that becomes the tiger's future. "How do you explain OTHER teams consistently performing better than us and finishing on top of us" Alright; forwards rolling over the top of us and other teams ALSO have the freakish talent that benji has. Barba; slater, smith, greg inglis is bloody amazing too as is SBW, dont even get me started on that souths forward pack.

Benji will be at the club for a while; get used to it. I bet if he plays like he did in 10 and 11 you'll be singing his praises in no time and guess what his performances in those years were almost identical to 12 just a few less errors and a strong backline to help finish his plays and somewhat capable pack to lay a platform.

Every player I have in my list the get rid of is currently injured…...

Lawrence, Moltzen and Ayshford were ok before I wrote this post...Did I just put the mock of all mocks on them before the Brisbance game?

LoL
