We need a new captain

just look at our squad, and have a look at who plays their guts out every week and leads by example.....take out the mistakes that players make, but who is honestly a true leader????

I would suggest Nofa.....I think he has the personality to do it on the field and off the field.

I really like Nofa but i dont think a winger is close enough to the action to make judgement.MBye is not the right choice as he seems to be a mute on the field.

Every one compares to smith when talking about captains. He is light years in front of everybody else. Outside of that if everyone rated all 16 the top teams would be perceived to have the better.
Very hard to be a captain in a borderline competitive side.
How much coaching does he receive in regards to his captaincy . I have the feeling madge expects each player to not need a parent to tell them what to do

If you have a centre as captain not that far removed from a winger.

I just think Nofa's personality lends itself to being a bit more captain material.

Now that Robbie has gone only Nof Lawrence and Brooks have the same passion for the club in varying degrees.I honestly dont know who the long term captain should be perhaps Twal would be my pick as he seems level headed

very true and he does a lot of work in the middle....but he seems very introverted on the field....

Hopefully as he matures as a footballer Twal gets more vocal.

Picking a captain has become more difficult with multiple interchanges. Picking a forward means there's a good possibility your skipper will be off the field when needed. You need an 80 minute playe who's vocal enough to fire up the team yet diplomatic enough to deal with the officials. They should be close to the action so decisions can be made quickly Eg. quick taps etc. Ideally, they'll also be able to provide a professional face for the media.

Benji ticks all the boxes, but you can't lead from the benches.

Given the criteria, I suspect Mbye is there through attrition rather than ability.

On the replay it looks as though Reynolds made the call to Challenge the ref call at Halftime.
Moses was walking away.
That shouldn’t be allowed in itself.

Josh and AD made a few calls actually.

Moses just stands out there in some sort of weird state. He never talks or acts. He looks a bit like Ash Taylor...just riding out the million dollar deal, a little embarrassed to have it, but too much money to leave on the table.

If he was a regular it is easily Marshall but otherwise give it to Brooks. It'll force him to take control.

Very hard to change someone's personality @rihannafan1.
I think a lot of players will show leadership quality long before they are made captain....and as much as I feel Brooks is a very good player and could be even better with good and consistent players around him, he hasn't shown any leadership quality apart from putting his body on the line with his amazing defensive capability.

Noffa would be a great captain. He is the bloke who busts his guts every week, no-one can accuse him of not having a dig. Leads by example, that is what a good captain does.
Mbye is just a grinning cardboard cutout with seemingly no passion or fire in his belly. Too easy for blokes underneath him to see that and think it's acceptable to just go through the motions, be mediocre year after year. I'm hazarding a guess Mbye wouldn't be a standout in setting the standard at training.

Thought i'd bump this. Anybody who saw the Raiders v Storm game last night saw the influence a decent captain can have. Nice play by Smith just before halftime with the line dropout. As a supporter, extremely frustrating, but got the desired result.

Frustrating that the refs don't grow some figs and put the germ in his place. They just pander to the flog.
Hated Harrigan as a ref but he wouldn't have let himself get walked over by Smith, he would've whacked his ego and let him know who was in charge out there.

It’s a minor issue. You don’t have to be a captain to lead by example and inspire teammates.

Conversely, it's no use being captain if you don't lead by example and don't inspire teammates. That's Mbye.

I'm a fan of Nofo but I'm not sure he's captain material. He's not the best communicator which could be an issue dealing with refs (or the media). His actions are enough for the other players - he definitely leads by example.

Possibly the thing I like most about him is he seems to hate to lose - he looks genuinely filthy after a loss - reminds me a bit of Robbie in that regard.

Not much Captain material in our side - it’s difficult to drive a team from the wing, I would bring in Farah to mentor Aloia for an immediate transition to the captaincy. Josh has the passion and drive to motivate our side.
More upside than our current captain constantly posing for a ‘Still Life’ portrait.
