150 plus most weeks, 30 odd strong tackles. Gave us something we had not had since Ellis.

The one bloke who looked like an elite NRL player we had. 295 yards we the Dogs. Solo try through half the Rorters.

A cat, yes.

But a massive loss.

Not fair to cast all as revisionist, as some have consistently admired his contributions, yet not considered his the most valuable and that was prior to the rumblings. You can have your opinion, as can others and I have no problem with an evaluation of him being the best, as he was there or thereabouts.

On the other hand, no way was he alone and far better than a number of other players.

And this is one of my biggest bug bears with some on the forum

The club has screwed up again and again and again and is treated like a protected species ...but players leave the club after playing quality football and yet they get lambasted from pillar to post

Absolutely can understand how *many* have arrived at that conclusion. His heart is well and truly in it for mine; sometimes at Wests Tigers that’s all we really have to hold on to. The missed kick was a shocker of course, but how many points did he individually score!? Believe Matterson was fairly ineffective in that game too besides horrendously milking a weak shot.

Matterson is currently better known for his form off the field, more than anything he has achieved on the field. If you asked him who was the best player last season he would more than likely name himself. Don't think his team mates would.

Chee Kam is a useful bench player, that's it. And without Matterson we don't even finish 9th. Chee Kam might be a team player but he's pretty bog average. A bit of a plodder.

I dont think MCK is a plodder but his natural gifts put him in a bit of an "in-between" position. Fast for a forward but small, slow for a centre.

I agree with you. He seems to be a great club man and he does have talent. Anyone who saw his heroic match winning tries in two games last season couldn't help but be impressed. We could start a new topic - the best NRL try of the season. MCK's solo effort against Brisbane would go close.

2018 we were three wins from 8th
2019 we were one game from 8th

2018 - 12 wins (2 against Storm and 1 against Easts - unlucky not to be 2 wins against Easts) and 12 losses.

2019 - 11 wins and 13 losses. Without MCK it would have been 9 wins and 15 losses.
