Plainly obvious. He carried out team until injuries got the better of him. Shut down numerous attacking players with show stopper hits. One of the best I have seen. He was totally underrated out here would have been the dominant forward if eligible for soo.

My favourite all time player in front of Gary Schofield and Hanley.

Came in to say the exact sane thing. No disrespect to Gareth, but while he was a great player, he tends to be overrated by Tigers supporters. How about getting a Sam Burgess clone.

I would like another Blocker Roach and Paul Sironen for go forward and a Wayne Pearce for work ethic! Ellis had a great motor and could tackle with the best but he was only solid in attack. And why not talk about the backs? How about clones of Ellery Hanley and Ross Conlon (goal kicking) in the centres, Larry Corrowa (only for attack)and Tuiacki on the wings with Benji and Prince the halves? Tedesco is the only current player to keep his spot…

Geez talk about a a serious forward pack. Blocker, Siro and Junior. We also had Brooks, McGuire, Hardwick and Elias at hooker. Ellery was part of that team and he is arguably the most exciting centre we have ever had. That team should have won :frowning:

The closest clone I can think of to Ellery is probably Renouf….Not sure if the last twenty years has really produced too many all-time great centres....

That was outside the field, on field he impressed me more than most forwards - he was an enforcer (unfortunately off the field as well). He even played with stomach cancer as not to interfere with his rep honours - he had true guts even if there was a cancer in them. My poor memory of him rates him better defensively than Woodsy.

FWIW i agree,along with Payton they are most underrated Forwards i've seen in the NRL.Payton would have to be the signing of the Decade with Easts paying half(?) his contract.

I thought we were starting to have some depth this year, but I now think we need

another front rower
another second rower
at least 1 centre
and a winger
and depending on what Farah and Cherrington do, possibly another hooker.

Elias's criminal activity wasn't just off field, he did take money to throw games, although that was later at Souths.
