We need another prop

I think everyone knows we need one but aren't sure on who the right player would be and whether they could fit in the cap too. If Woods went down now, we would be in very deep trouble.

Buchanan has been good but first grade is very tough, especially in his position. He will tire quickly if he is asked to play so many minutes. Bell doesn't quite have the punch required. Pettybourne doesn't really have the size or stamina at this stage. Big Ava looked good but he had a short stint too.

Options I can think of here are Shackleton or if we managed to snag one from an opposition side somewhere. Richie Fa'aoso where is he playing at? Give big Ray Cashmere a call maybe?

So yes, I agree. We need a prop big time. I'd be looking at Shackleton closely tbh.

According to the Round 2 NRL programme Shane Shackleton was, together with Shannon Boyd, a reserve for the Mounties NSW Cup team. Why in the world cannot two props like this be recruited by Wests Tigers on one year performance contracts? It is bordering on criminal for Wests Tigers to burn out promising young props like Buchanan. What is frustrating me is the lack of communication the rank and file fans are receiving from Wests Tigers administration regarding this obviously serious problem. Again, I reiterate, is it because there is no money left in the recruitment kitty?

It's pretty obvious we need an experienced front rower asap. In the meantime, I'd be swapping Buchanan and Seu next week. Give Seu the first 15 or 20 minutes then bring on Buchanan after the initial 'sting' has gone out of the game. He'll last a little longer with a little more effect. Groat is back in another month, so that'll help too, although he'll need a couple of games in reggies. But definitely need another bopper quickly.

Hello? Is that Ray Cashmere? How are you enjoying Kurri Kurri, mate? Any chance you might want to come back for one more season at the Tigers??

Steve Blocker roach said on ten news before the game started we need to sign an experienced foward for this year. We should get Gerorge Rose i think.

Groat back in another month? I thought he was out for 4 or 5 months?

Groat is due back in round 7\. Gavet is out until at least June.

just on pettybourne he came on in the 61 min and parra scored in the 69 min, pettybourne was within arms lenght to make a tackle but was spent and could not pick his feet up, i wonder how that will make farah feel, after he sprinted 60 meters just before 1/2 time to save a try. the bloke is so unfit how can he play 1st grade should be in reggies getting fit.

As i was saying maybe Shannon Boyd.

He's a monster but he's in the same boat as Buchanan, having just come out of NYC last year.

Utai idea, madness
Rose, good when playing in a good pack, probably would struggle with us and Fitness is always a issue.
Cashmere–no way, was found to be outclassed last year.

I agree we need to buy a really solid journey man, but where are you going to find one now????????

Im sure Mose masoes been mentioned, would be handy IF we could snare him away from Gus…..looking at reggies team lists not a lot of options there

And people keep banging on about expansion....sorry off topic

I think we did well in the recruiting department pre-season but as a Tigers fan you grow to accept the fact that lady luck is never on our side. And I can't see us buying an experienced, rounded prop anytime soon.

Supercoach you are close to the mark in my opinion. It is clear we lack size because previous administration favoured mobility above size - funny that teams like the dogs and broncos have had plenty of success with massive packs. The Parra pack was much bigger than ours last night but we got over the top of them with a good kicking game.

Bringing in guys like Utai, Perry or any other nuffy that is well past their prime is not going to help and would probably make matters worse.

We need to find a club with a prop who is out of favour that they would be happy to part with before June 30\. Someone like Ashton Sims, Brett White, George Rose or Pritchard (although I think the latter will provide little help given our current situation). I am happy to stick with Ava and see how he goes.

Stick solid, we have improved every game so far and you cannot ask too much more than that. Manly will be a good test.

We should have signed Mason.
