We should have kept Paul Momirovski.

It was a necessary trade.

Momorovski has helped out the Tigers massively when he went to Melb so we could get Grant and again in the Laurie trade.

Seems like a good guy and a decent player.
Was a pawn in the roster building.

Centre is still our biggest issue and I hope it can be addressed before round 1, 2022.

Yep … our centre’s are killing it

Who was a shining light in our team this year? Answer question and you may have the answer to the OG question.

Stefano ?

Laurie was good in patches but the forum definitely overrated him a bit. Probably because we haven’t had a flashy type of fullback since Tedesco

Anyways as many others say no use lamenting on it, we all got sucked into the BJ / Roberts hype and got our pants pulled down.

Is Paul Momorovski a better player than Daine Laurie? No - on any day of the week.

So, in a position where we do not have standout centres or standout fullback, i.e. both positions equally barren, a trade where we get Laurie and lose Momorovski is a good trade.

Dane Laurie was already signed with us for 2022.
That was happening regardless of Momo going to
Penrith or not.
***The reason Momo went to Penrith was because we signed BJ and to get him here he was told he was first choice.***
When Momo got wiff of that conversation between the club and BJ he took off to Penrith.
And we all know how BJ has worked out for the club.
BIG MISTAKE!!!

Momo wasnt contracted for 2022, we got Laurie for 2021. We cant have Laurie and Momo in 2021, Laurie strengthens the team.

BJ played for us in 2020. That story that Momo left because BJ was told he was guaranteed 1st grade kinda falls apart with the fact that BJ was dropped to reggies in 2021? How does BJ playing reggies fit in that fairy tale.

If Momo left so he didnt have to compete for his position, then good riddance.

Thats right BJ did sign for us in 2020 , cause we didnt have a centre, We sent our centre to Melbourne Storm on loan for Harry.
So , like I said earlier , because we signed BJ and thought he would be our saviour , it left Momo out and he chose to go to the Riff.

I dont believe for a second that that is the reason why he left, but if he did he is a puss. If he is not prepared to fight for a position, he is exactly the wrong player for us. If he didnt rate BJ and thought he was better he should and could of proven it and fought for it. The fact that early in the season Madge dropped BJ shows that there was no entrenched favouritism. Was Momo promised first grade at Pamfers?

That , I dont know cause I dont follow pamfers.
But it was the obvious choice for him as Ivan was who got him to the Wests Tigers.

That is different to what you said earlier. You said he left because he was having a sook that the Tigers signed BJ. Is that still your story?

Instead of all the spilt milk crying.... guess you could ask is if Momirovski was off contract or available would you sign him...

As a player and a centre it would be a Yes from me much the same as we did from the Rorters..

Would he improve our squad in a position of need ..for sure..we need more footballers..

That is an easy question and the answer would be a simple yes from me, but that is actually not the right question for this thread.

To modify your question to suit this thread, the question would be.."If Momirovski was off contract and available, would you sign him, *if it cost us Daine Laurie?"*

Thats a different question and a different answer.

So you think a starting centre in the side that is coming second in the comp is not good enough for us?

Not if we want to go somewhere in the next few years. Laurie has been our best player and will be a star in the future. I would take Laurie playing 20 nrl games and getting that experience then keeping momo here. He is slow, has bad hands and does a good thing every 3 games. He would have looked as good as our centre’s looked in the team this year. The love for this player i will never in my life understand. It’s like saying we should take eisenhuth back because he is in the panthers 17 each week. Thanks but no thanks .

It's all hindsight - at the time we made the right decision and had plenty of centre options. The way things have panned out in the centres, Momo being at the club this season certainly would have helped but not at the expense of getting Laurie. Also Momo in the Panthers backline and Momo in our backline might be 2 different players!

Is Momo off contract this year? Can we sign him anyway? Or did he get an extension when he went to Penrith?

Laurie for Momo was a great trade.

Boy things are bad when we're lamenting not having a player like Momo. Solid player, nothing special.

It’s quite funny really?
Moma was our only player that Storm and Panthers would accept. Hahaha
Sure there were rumours about Talau and Nofa, but the deal could only be done in both cases with Moma.

If he was so good why didn’t the storm keep him. They played branko lee in front of him. That says it all.

Agree to disagree. He's head n shoulders above the centres we have at the moment.
Will agree getting laurie was a good thing but wish we could've traded someone else like Nofo.

Don't need 30 stars - solid is better than sloppy like many of our backs.

No they didn't, He got injured and lost his spot to Brenko - Brenko did nothing to lose it and got an Origin gig... Won that also....
Momo is solid, And a hard worker - Very much a Madge style player...
Certainly a better / smarter outside back than the 5-6 we kept over him.

Funnily, Brenko would probably out-perform most of our current centres also...

Excuse me if I an wrong, but we also apparently dropped out of going hard for JAC because he wouldn't come this year, or reasons. Seem inpatient to our detriment.

Yeah him .. he’s useless

We made the right call to get Daine Laurie however we also really failed to identify a lack of intelligence and stability in our outside backs.

They let Momo go, they let Thompson go, They let Kane Bradley go.

Brought in JTJ and BJ, combined them with Talau and Nofo and expected good results.

Its an epic recruitment and retention fail and shows up the coach as someone who fails to see the type of player required to rebuild a team that struggles with consistency.
