I think everyone agrees the way in which it was done could have been handled better. Perhaps with a little better communication with Farah and this would not have ballooned to the media circus that it has.

Can't say that I am really on board as far as the coach goes, however he has risen a few rungs with the way he has handled himself of late with the exception of THAT press conference. He has bitten off more than others were allowed to and also bitten his tongue so as to not inflame the situation further since.
It was great to see Robbie go well yesterday, but any objective opinion is that it was long overdue. The deniers can believe what they will, but last year I am sure that Farah never referenced himself as in "I", rather the team/players blah blah blah during the deconstruction of his coach.
Furthermore, apart from the (insert swearing) PR of this week I have never heard anyone refer to him as well liked, popular, pick whatever term you like. In fact I cannot recall any of the media (including ex players, some he played with) describe him as anything other than basically the opposite.
Should have been shown the door a year ago for mine, so I am with the board.

And I am not excluding myself from this I was one of these fans......
When we punted Gibbs, Heightington, Sheens and Ryan people in here applauded and said the tough calls need to be made (since then we have gone further backwards) ......
When we punted Marshall people applauded and said the tough calls need to be made (since then we have gone further backwards in some respects) ....
Now were punting Farah who has been our captain and arguably the best player in the clubs history and people are saying this is a great tough call that could turn the club around in a couple of years. Pity about next year when we are picking up 600K for him to play against us whilst we have almost lost other expereinced players.
Just saying. Are players the problem here or is it more deep rooted then that???

I must admit that I'm a little split in regards to what I think because I, like everyone on this forum, only have limited information and I only like to make informed decisions based on fact!
However I will say that I always train my sales staff to take emotion out of their day to day decisions because when emotion is involved it tends to have an element of adrenalin attached and the best decisions are made when your calm and rational.
Robbie has been great for our club over the years and whilst the fairytale of him being a one club player is romantic the reality is we as a club need to move forward as a united force and I don't think anybody can deny that robbie hasn't always been conducive to changes within the club when they have come up, the rumblings of his influence on management have been around for years and where there's smoke there's fire.
I'm sure other senior managers/business owners would agree with me that you can't have a senior member of your team pushing against you rather than pulling with you.

I remember in the off season it was said Taylor would let the players play the style they want to play.
This clearly didn't happen.
He was saying early on they would in essence become a defensive side and then mid season went away from that as well.
So without a clear plan and focus I don't believe Taylor can survive long term and as such shoud not be making long term strategic decisions re the future of the club.
Coaches at this level are effectively personality managers. He came to a club with young attacking players and tried to turn them into the Roosters. It ain't going to work. What he should have done is encouraged a controlled attacking structure allowing the young playets to gain confidence and so to work out which will make it which won't. From their attack wearing opponents down defense wpuld have been easier.

For god sake - put them in a room together and demand they dont come out till they come up with some resolution. Both apparently want what's best for club, if that's the case prove it. No doubt in their contracts they would be required to act in the best interest of the club so surely that would be for our captain and coach to make some effort to reconcile and get on with the job. Sacking either of them at this point is no good for the club and someone on the board needs to make this known to both of them. You want leadership its time for the board to insist on unity and that means Taylor and Farah getting over their own self interest and to do what's best for the team and the club. If next year it is still untenable well Farah then at least will have time to fairly explore other options. We cant replace him with anyone better, we still have to honour his contract, so wouldnt it be a wise decision to give him time to at least seek a reasonable offer elsewhere to lessen our financial burden than offloading him for nothing. Its one thing for the board to give Taylor their full support but not to the detriment of the club - Sheens/ Humphries era.

We can pull stats your way or my way to suit each respective argument.
The fact he has got himself fit and playing decent football, well why was that not happening at Concord, was it all the players fault or are there bigger issues there?

I must have a bad recollection of punting Marshall …they way I remember it was he had 2 years on an existing contract and was told by Humpty in a handshake deal to extend that contract...he left Mayer came in said news to me....Benji then decided that he wanted to chase his boyhood dream and have a crack at union and the All Blacks...even made a youtube video about it,,,so we released him from the final 2 years...

I am all for coaches and clubs making the hard calls. It's just that in this instance I am not sure we should be following the coach. He is not a Bellamy, Hasler, Gould or Bennett. They have a history of success and you can have some confidence in their decisions.
I was even comfortable with Sheens moving Heighno, Beau and Gibbsy on (although our ruck defence suffered without him).
But JT's coaching decisions and judgement calls don't fill me with any confidence. I am not sure whether it is ego or something else but some of our play this year was deplorable and he seemed satisfied with it.
If the team was performing or I could see improvement, I would be more comfortable. I just find it hard to digest that you want your most experienced and probably best (outside Teddy) to not only walk away but are willing to pay mega bucks for it to happen.

I am concerned about the direction our club is being steered in at the moment, the recent events show the Board needs to show some communication with the membership and fans about how it has control over what is going on and the subsequent direction for the club. At the moment events have caused major splits amongst supporters of the club and it would be interesting to know what effect this is having on sponsors. By the end of this season there will be few exxperienced players in first grade which is a concern for 2016\. We are broke, lacking leadership, decisions are being made and not executed in a professional manner and I am concerned that the club is being run into the ground. About the only 'good news' that has been circulated of late is a few middle of the road signings and suggestions of a new home base.

It is pure ly JT and the board wanting a distraction to steer attention away from their performances, but it has severely backfired on both.
A coach can only get respect from his own performance with the team, and contrary to some opinions, players are not all brain dead, and it doesn't take long for experienced players to know whether a coach has no idea of what he's doing or not
While we take no notice of which coaches can command respect among players, and we continue to go shopping for Coaches( apart from Sheens) among the bargain bins, these problems will continue in this club.
If we want Quality coaching, we need a quality Coach, not a Bargain buy.
Or at least someone recommended by a quality Coach,
