Well here it is ... Benji's own words

Benji didn't get what he wanted, but management did. And they'll try to tell you they are disappointed he is leaving when it was the plan all along.

You beauty, the Tigers can now play like every other robot team in the NRL. Benji brought something special to the game and to e Tigers and now it is lost.

Good luck to him I hope he kills it in Rugby.

Puhlease. So playing robot like and making the the finals doesn't appeal to you.

Razzle dazzle doesn't win comps anymore. Benji did bring something special to the game but not for a while.

Disgruntled star players are bad apples. It's best for the club. Not sure about you but I followed balmain and now wests tigers club. Not the players.

Well yes actually I want to see razzed dazzle. Yes winning the comp is great but I don't want to watch bash and barge football to achieve it

It's supposed to be entertainment. If not why not just pull a name out of a hat each year and give money away

Not sure what you have been watching, but Benji has been here for the last two years and there has been zero "razzle dazzle".

If you want entertainment, go and watch the circus. I want to win football games, whatever it takes.

quotes like "best thing for my family" generally refer to money…
he's full of it.

That totally makes sense. Someone putting their family before a new management he didn't trust "must have been a greedy liar". I don't understand your logic here mate…

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

yeah, because better for his family that he is unemployed for 2014 and 2015 where he could be earning 1.5million from management who were 'untrustworthy'.

he's full of crap.

Maybe he's saying that its better for him and his family to be happy rather than hugely well paid. Ever think of that smarty pants ? Maybe all you think about is money, obviously he doesn't.

You guys whined about him playing too razzle dazzle so he starts playing more tactical (I'm sure most of the blockheads here didn't even notice this…next time you watch a bonstonker video, guess who's always setting up the try...Marshall).
Then you moan that he should leave...he does. Now you whine that he's unloyal ?? Big words from small men behind a computer screen.

X 2

I don't care if half the rugby league fraternity falls asleep while we win a GF

Whether you win by 60 or 1 it's still a win

If it wasn't about money Benji why was it so important that you had a contract upgrade to 2017??

It is about money however I think it is a little weirder than that. I think it is about not getting paid what he thought he was going to get paid and his poor form and criticism which is getting to him.

The thing is I think monetarily he would be better off staying at the club and in RL. I think that this is a poor financial decision by Benji but I suppose that is his choice.

Fair enough with his reply but the thing that irks me a bit about it is,where he states his mates being pushed out played a big part.
All I can say I that is your playing a professional sport not park football with your mates its a business whether it is good or bad your getting paid to play not stuff around with your mates I never went to work with my friends I may have made work friends that came and went but that never affected whether I stayed employed or not.
The rest I can understand and handle and good luck to him I think if that's the way he feels his heart isn't in it and it must be or the best.

Im over Benji.

Ill clap him off when its all over this year because he has been great for the club. He does deserve a good send off and I hope he gets it

However he has really lost his way the past couple of years, and I think it 100% the right decision to give him the release he desires. I won't be sad to see him go, and I think deep down its a great day for Mick Potter and the culture he is looking to create long term at the club.

Thaks for the memories Benji, now it's time to move on.

Who else is eagerly (or cringingly) awaiting tomorrow's Footy Show sulk?

If he goes on that idiotic show for the second time in a row before a Friday night game in breach of club policy then drop him, cost him his 200 games.

So we get another piss-poor Leichhardt crowd and get beaten? I don't think that will help the club much. It's just silly doing that sort of thing if you want decent performances for the rest of the year. Like or not, it effects team morale.

Probably a pre-recorded interview they will air on the show. Would be so stupid as you all say if he is on the panel.

Its all about damage control. Public opinion seems to be backing the club and the stance they have taken, rather than the stances Benji has taken, and Benji going to need to be the good guy and not the bad guy if he is going to continue to cash in on his name.

The more I think of it the more I think its a good move for Benji and probably a good move for the club. I just hope he really creams it at rugby and dosnt fall on his face.

Nice insight. I think Benji's team is trying a different approach, considering his manager made a hash of it the first time around and most fans/media are siding with the club.

However I don't think the "my friends were squeezed" out lines are going to win anyone over. If he wants to play footy with all his mates, let him do it for free on weekends at Coogee Oval. Footy ain't that kind of business, sorry Benji.

ofcourse i considered that, but then my common sense came into play… it considered how upset he was the contract wasnt upgraded for MORE MONEY. forgive my scepticism thinking it has nothing to do with money.

no one complained about razzle dazzle play (flick passess side steps or chip and chases), especially the past two seasons, because it has been non-existent. the criticism of his game was more to do with the absolute stupidity which he pulled out regularly (no look pass to row 6 of the grandstand, horrible kicks etc)

you realise you are also a big/small man behind a keyboard? lol smarty pants

He wants to play with his buddies and not playing and thinking like a pro. Poor Benji, he needs to learn how to think logically and not as a sook. He needs to get his priorities right. Thinking only about himself and not the club is not going to do him any good.

Or, alternatively, he has mixed feeling for the club because of what he thought was unfair treatment of those close to him? He's not just "thinking about himself", he's thinking about those he feels have been wronged by Wests. Besides which, people are allowed to be a bit selfish sometimes…

I think it is fairly apparent now that the driving force wasnt MORE MONEY as you have been bleating, but MORE TIME. He was under the understanding he would finish his career here. He says he was promised an extension and then that deal was reneged upon. He is obviously still harbouring resentment of the treating of Gibbs, Motlz, Beau, Heighno, Fifita…probably Aysh and Fults as well...I dont think our management can be trusted by the players fully do you?

We are now in the position where exciting youngsters are being elevated but next year they will take the field with Farah, Blair, Fults, a still young Woods and injury prone stars Anasta, Gal and Rowdy. Going on past history, there wont be too many games where all 7 of them will take the field together meaning we are in for a couple more years of teams that are chock full of the inexperienced. It could be good, it could be a disaster. Interesting times ahead.

yeah I think it is quite clear now that it was about time rather than money. He wanted to make sure he was still playing beyond 2015 and given his age at the end of his contract, he'd have an easier job get into Union now rather than later.

The mentioning of Brooks and Moses in his vid gave a further indication to that, he knew the club wasn't going to give him that extra couple of years. Hopefully he'll be back in some capacity in the future.
