Well said Phil Gould - re Robbie farah

For me, Farah pretty much has a lifetime exemption from aggressive criticism. He's not playing at the same amazing level that he was around 2007, but that is a super high standard to set, and he is still a rep-quality player.

Some people here are so quick to turn on him, because he is playing well rather than tearing the game apart. Last year people criticised him for being too involved, not letting the young guys direct the play, but this year he gets criticised by being too quiet and not stepping up in big games.

Obviously he is never going to win, there are fans who just can't help but whinge and moan when the results aren't going well, and Farah is an easy target.

But for me, I don't forget all that he has done for the club, the number of seasons he almost single-handedly carried us towards the Top 8, the length of time he was stuck behind Ennis despite being comfortably the best hooker in NSW, his Dally M runner up spots 07 and 10.

He's just not Origin tough, ask Laurie Daley, thats why they picked Ennis for years.

Sorry Chris, but you have to be kidding
Ennis didn't have a very long time in Origin, and in that time, cost us at least I game by giving one of his stupid penalties away that gave them the game with only a few minutes to go.
As for whether he is an origin player, just read Goulds story about him ( I think you must have missed it).
Even just going on this year , his effort in staying on and defending as he did with the sort of injury that he had, should have been enough to show even people like you, that your statement is rubbish

Sarcasm detector on the blink GCT?

Farah will always be top shelf in my opinion - great post.

He gave me the irrits last year with the way he went off and talked to someone in the media about his coach, then went into damage control and forgot about the team while he tried to preserve himself when he got dragged through media.

He looks to have learned from it though, really seems to be leading from the front this year. Realises that he has a bunch of kids looking to him and they're getting hammered from all corners. That is all we can ask of him.

Just heard Maroon make the call 'on more coin than Robbie Farah'.

That's my issue. Is Farah playing like a top ten player? Has he for the past 24 months?

I don't blame him. I just look at his salary as the problem. He should take a pay cut. Then he will be a club legend. His coin is why we can't afford to compete right now. That and a crap coach.

Still my all time favourite player.

I reckon he is great as well. Some hog plays of his has been terrible but he is a great player. The only issue I see is the salary that we are paying him.

Puts it into perspective.

I apologise for bagging Farah on skipping the presso.

The real tragedy of Farah's origin career is that in career best form he was overlooked for Buderus(Robbie outplayed for years) and Ennis.

He's not perfect old robbie….but he IS a he'll of a leader.
I loved him pleading his case with a rorting ref....others bagged him....He can't win...if He says nothing he's crucified too

BRAVO.

MacDougal why the hell should he take a pay cut?
He along with Benji built this club. He has played busted for years. He has won us many games. For a couple of years he carried this team on his own. He has represented the club at Origin and Test levels. He always makes himself available to play and accessible to the club and it's fans. He is a life member….long story short he deserves his salary.

He doesn't need to do anything more to become a "club legend"...he already is one.

This. We always knew Robbie was a great player but after last year this year we have seen Robbie grow as a leader of young impressionable men. Well done Robbie. :sign:
