But it also comes back to Peaches point
If you and I are in that crowd watching the game enjoying another Qld annihilation of the Blues , does that makes us as bad as WSW supporters ??
We know it happens and do nothing about it
Speak for yourself man, if I came across 5 blokes laying into 1 I would most definitely say/do something about it.
Still not the same thing though. Peaches point was - "its everyone elses fault but ours". I and others are saying you can not claim the moral high ground when you have dozens and dozens of people squaring off in the streets during the day hurling stuff at each other.
Of course fighting is a part of football culture to a point. We all loved it when Origin scraps broke out on the field. The difference is that you will never see a large group of batchey's blues squaring off outside the stadium against a large group of QLD supporters. You just never see gang/riot styled fights happening in the streets. That stuff is germain to the soccer crowd as has been evidenced all around the world. It has started happening here and the authorities are trying to eliminate it in its infancy before it becomes the norm.
Their efforts should be applauded and they are being by most….its a pity though that soccer fans think they are being heavy handed. This victim mentality is not helping their clubs nor their sport.
Piss off Stryker. That is not my point. Do not go taking my words and manipulating them to fit your view.
I'm talking about one incident where Wanderers fans were at a pub when they got attacked. In this instance, it literally wasn't Wanderers fans fault. I told you I won't defend anyone if they go looking for and causing trouble. But I will defend those who need to defend themselves. So you're saying it's alright for you to intervene if 5 blokes are acting violent but the Wanderers fans couldn't react when they were attacked at a pub? It's not exactly the same situation with there being more numbers involved in the Wanderers situation; nuts it's the same about being confronted with a situation and acting how you see fit. And most the time instances like that are shut down quickly because there are police or security around. If you seriously think situations like the Wanderers fans had would just resolve in 30 seconds because everyone has had enough; you're deluded. You know yourself instances like that will continue until the vast majority recognise an authority like the police or until the majority have run away.
And those condemning any fight; I usually do too. But in this instance you want a reasonable reaction to an unreasonable situation. That just doesn't work unfortunately. I've tried to convey what happened but some of you just can't get the situation they were in. Some seem to think football fans have a victim mentality. Some fans probably do. Though I'm able to tell the difference and don't look blindly into the situation. Here I have first hand evidence from a few witnesses and have been on the forum where some families have thanked the boys for acting the way they did. If the people who had children and partners with them are thankful for the reaction despite the backlash that has occurred, just maybe they acted in the right this time. You see the aftermath out on the street and while I agree it wasn't acceptable, I definately am thankful it happened there then inside the pub.
