Western Sydney Wanderers

Funny how all the incidents with the RBB this season occurred either at away games or ACL games. The RBB season tickets are sold out for our regular season games at Parra, and you can only get in with a membership card. I'm sure you can join the dots from there.

I didn't go to the Newcastle game, but I heard from friends that did that the police security was ridiculously over the top (people not allowed to go to the bathroom, and someone else kicked out for standing in an aisle).

That's the sort of thing we deal with most weeks. Some members were removed from the ground for holding up a banner, something which the club said was not an issue. Some members were kicked out for being in the wrong bay.
On that Wednesday night when the flares went off they were about 10m to the left of me. Let me just say firstly I wouldn't have a clue who did it. Anyway the police were approaching where they were let off from the other side of the bay and walking across us from the right in our aisle. So I said "watch out everyone, make room" to the people to the left of me. The police officer asked what I said and I told him just that. He's reply was "why don't you watch the game or you can come out with me". He made his way on and everyone was saying "what's he's go" and "why was he being a prick" when you were notifying us to move out of his way so they weren't going to bump into us like they did everyone else. It's that sort of attitude that can make every situation worse.

On the weekend, those who were wearing hats were told to take them off. I don't know if they think we were smuggling in something underneath the hat or whether there was a facial recognition video somewhere, I'm not sure but we haven't been asked to do that before when heading in to the ground.

Overzealous security and police personnel who see the RBB solely as an organised group who can cause issues are the ones that cause problems on match day . We are organised somewhat but that is to the extent of following the capos and La Bandas lead.

Peaches, to put it bluntly, you can either be the innocent fans you claim to be, or you can maintain the victim/retaliation mentality… it is honestly one or the other.

I wish I had the money to fly you to Scotland, make you wear a Celtic jersey non-stop, and send you to an away game at Ibrox when Celtic goes down. Not knocking you by saying that you are young and dont have worldly experience because of it, but you have little to no idea what you are nurturing. Im not sure if or when it stopped at Ibrox Stadium, but if I remember correctly the home team had to arrive and be locked into their half of the stadium an hour before the game, locked in, then the visitors had their hour to make it into their side of the stadium, and there were literally no-mans lands dividing them, tall fences with razor wire, with riot police working dogs patrolling the no go zone. A 2 team town would riot either way the game went, the place became a war zone, and made Glasgow the most likely place in the world to be stabbed, to this very day. I could go on for pages.

Old Westham vs. Chelsea pre Abromavich, would work as well. Ever heard of the Chelsea smile?

Go watch "Football Factory", if I have the doco right, there is an ex-Arsenal fan that says it all... he swapped teams because Arsenal fans were soft, he was sick of being the victim of clubs with harder "firms", so he changed who he supported to a club with a tougher "firm" so he could turn the situation on its head, and be part of a scene. That isnt a loyal true fan of the team or game...

Wanderers have a what, 18 month old history? How do you think these international firms started?

Take this as an attack, I dont really care. Im am just laying some truths down, history proves the best model for predicting the future. All around the world innocent people are hurt after games because of these sorts of gigs, it is an unarguable fact, people die not part of this crap! Im just trying to get across the point that this isnt a one time phenomenon, its repeated thousands of times around the globe. The police would be stupid to ignore what is happening.

We all love the passion, we really do, I wish the Wests Tigers had the cult status... but if it was to come at the expense of the "firm" mentality, then it would be a massive pass. Dont confuse the two.

**So now you're labeling that every Wanderers fan believe and commits the above issues?** That's not a generalisation at all is it? Just like all Bulldogs fans are troublemakers and all Souths fans are troubled with a lack of teeth hey? Don't let the truth get in the way of your views. You're talking about a small minority who are slowly getting banned.

My mother talks often with a lady who works within the FFA. She told my mum the other day that apparently those who caused the issues last Wednesday were already banned. So surprise surprise, the time they decide to have next to no security on the gate and allowed members outside the RBB into the active area, these idiots find their way in and there is trouble yet again.

Basic human right were taken away last Sunday. For 15 minutes police wouldn't let us leave our bay. We couldn't go buy food or drinks; we couldn't even to go to the toilet until one of the members already outside of the bay grabbed the area commanders attention and they eased up after that. Would you be okay with that to happen in the stands on Sunday in any instance?

Some members of the police have stated to us that they put their hand up for the double time and the view of the game they get and the paranoia around our games means they're all cleaning up so even more are putting their hands up. These are the ones who know we're just a bunch of fans who support our side in active manner. The ones who experience our game days quite often. Then we have the few who are clearly power-tripping who just march people out of the ground for various trivial reasons.

Like I said read the statement that was released rather then just what you see on the news. Educate yourself rather then letting your prejudice rule your opinion.

I think before this season, many would have been against it. But his form this season has been good. While some would be against it, I think most would love it to be a success.

I don't think it'll ever get to those points but if it did, as I said earlier I would be walking away from the club and I certainly wouldn't be defending it. I'm not seeing any of that sort of behaviour. There are some people who want to take it too far but they are very much in the extreme minority and because the game is young here, I can't see the "firms" ever getting that sort of power/control and the club/players allowing it to go on.
I have no doubt that the extreme minority probably want it to go that way. But you're more often then not talking about incidents and hatreds that were born more out of societal issues.

You most certainly inferred it by saying what Tigers fans didn't do. Everything in that reply was what Tigers fans don't do after you previously stated what you believed Wanderers fans did. What else was I to assume? And if I was incorrect in my inference, correct on me what you were in fact inferring to?

Ink it seems you don't really care about much but throw your uneducated opinion out everywhere. I'm not surprised you wouldn't care with what my mum said because it goes against your opinion that all our clubs fans have issues, not just a small minority. I assume you failed to read the RBB statement?

I most certainly didn't come across as a smartarse to the police. My pop was a detective for years until he was put into forced retirement. I have a mate in the dog squad. Another mate who is a general duties officer. My father is a fireman. I know how to speak to the authorities and I have the utmost respect for all 3 forms of public health services (fireman, paramedic, police) and the work they do. I was trying to assist them so they wouldn't bump into anyone else.

This post is about the game itself because that's why we all (football fans) actually go to the game. Derby day is always a good day. Going for 3 wins from 3 matches. The Wanderers have been inconsistent and Sydney FC looks better with big Sasa in the heart of their defense. Form goes out the windows for derbies. I'm just hoping it won't be raining. A dry game would be nice haha

All good mate, Im not picking you personally, glad you got that… and i see you got the drift of my point.

All I will say is that if it goes sour, you cannot just walk away, thats not good enough. The deepest hatreds began as the smallest incidents. Dont think for a second the majority Sydney FC Italian/Greek fans, vs. the Western Sydney team isnt a socio-economic mis-match, you think incidents possibly blown up by the media yet happened none the less, have them looking down their noses at Us as second class fans... the Italians at work will say it to my face, often. You think the guy who was filmed being attacked while sitting at a restaurant last year (even though he may have started it) would attend with his kids next time, or more likely a bunch of his boys who would all solid for each other? you think they wouldnt banter with more venom knowing previous experiences, being in closely related numbers? Its little seeds that grow into massive trees.

That wasn't really an attack at the restaurant. It was just banter that one bloke obviously took way too far. He was moved on very quickly and no one knows who he is. The RBB copped a lot for that incident and we have no idea who this guy is haha. I get your point though.

While I completely acknowledge the rights of others to believe things differently to me, I find the whole soccer fan antics, you know that deliberate mimicking of what they see in EPL, (i.e the ridiculous noises, the coordinated jumping up and down in different rows of seats etc) as an embarrassment. Are any of them actually watching the game? Most of them that I see on TV seem more focussed on doing their bit correctly to add to the "atmosphere" than they are to appreciate the efforts of the players. And WSW fans are the worst offenders. Being there to be "seen" as a fan seems a higher priority than actually watching the game. To me, it's fake, crass, opportunistic and superficial. It's the "event" they are there for and in stark contrast to the grassroots, gritty, "stick with your team through thick and thin" - type support of NRL fans. W**kers, basically.

I can only speak for myself obviously but it's clear to me I support the Wanderers and the Tigers in a different manner. When I'm watching a Tigers game, I must say I'm watching the play, often jeering or urging a player on. A running commentary pretty much haha. I'm always talking with whoever I'm with whether it be about the game or something else. When I'm supporting the Wanderers, I'm watching the game while chanting at the second time. Pretty much all of it is second nature and multitasking by now. At first there was some thinking to it, but now it's just automatic. Watching the game the other day while there was a silent protest had a feeling like it was a league game. It felt very very different and almost alien to me to watch it solely like I would a tigers game.
Neither is a better way of supporting. In both instances I am there wishing and hoping the best for my team. They're just different. I can assure you we are all for the most part watching the game while we chant. The Capo's don't watch the whole game though they are there to keep the chanting in unison. Most stadiums have a screen behind so they often watch that while looking at the bays. The Poznan is a minute long and the whole stadium gets into it. It's a tradition now.

Great game last night. The atmosphere was electric, and the result was the right one.

Santalab is a grub.

Spewing we gave away 3 goals and the lead when we should have been 2-nil up. The boys are making some silly errors this season when we were clean last season.
Atmosphere was pretty good though I have been to a couple of other games where it was better.
I'm not going to judge Santalab just yet but if indeed it's true, then I would be pretty disappointed in him.

Not just the racial vilification claim, he's a thug.

Janjetovic saving the penalty turned the game on it's head. We'd be sitting further below the ladder without him, he's an absolute star.

I haven't seen anything to dislike him outside that. He seems a fighting hard-working small medium sized forward. He gives it his all.

I've seen him pull out a few saves this season. Maybe even a smokey for the third goalkeeping option in the World Cup squad. Ryan will be first choice, Langerack second, so we may as well take a young likely option.

Apart from what Abbas said, no one has an idea. So it's something about his culture whether it be race or religion. Either are unacceptable. I'm not sure what sort of penalty fits that sort of crime either? My guess it'll be something like 6 or 7 matches maybe?
I'm not sure how open the FFA's dealings with these sorts of incidents are. It may even be all behind closed doors thing?
