How can we have watched last season and have Mbye in this team let alone be captain? Couldn't hold down a position anywhere so we'll chuck him wherever we can and slap the C next to his name for good measure. Just doesn't make sense.

Because that was last Season and this Season he is the centre partner for BJ.

He's not a centre but? Got put there coz we gotta find a way to utilize 900k in cap space.

Madge thinks he is. Kevvie thought he was good enough there to play game 3 of origin too.

How'd that work out?

He’s an absolute gun in the centre’s puts hits on sets his winger up all the time I don’t know why people hate him so much always try’s his hardest what more do you want for the poor bloke he seems like an absolute legend last year when he was injured before the game but Madge still played him he could hardly walk and still managed to set up his winger

Don't hate him mate but he was shocking in origin 3 on the centres. And while I agree he's our best option for the other center spot, absolute gun and legend are ridiculous descriptions of him.

And you can see him still trying to grab him even as he's sliding in the complete opposite direction. Our Moses never gives up.

Couldn’t find the rule changed thread sorry:
Can anyone explain the tackle in the air rule? I think it’s going to have a bearing on Corey Thompson’s selection

Just the same as you are unable to tackle the defending player whilst his feet are off the ground..you can no longer tackle the attacking player whilst his feet are off the ground where you could before..both result in a penalty now..

So then two blokes jump for ball and anyone touches them gets penalised. So an attacker catches it in the in goal and simply scores. Am I reading this correctly? If so, the only wingers worth recruiting need to be 6 foot Or more. True?

No that’s not it at all... if two players are contesting a kick it’s no penalty at all ..if the defender allows the attacker to catch it he can’t tackle him till he has a foot on the ground... before he could...

Does it only apply for kicks?

What if a player dives in the corner, can you tackle them in the air?

Kicks...never been a penalty for tackling someone who already has the ball with feet in the air..can't shoulder them though unless you are a Storm or Parra player..

Actually not a bad question. If you saw Ferguson's first try the other day in the 9's he was airborne for quite some time. Very spectacular. Now imagine if he'd been lined up by say Payne Haas - Two big bodies colliding midair would probably do more than destory the corner post! But I think the rule would not apply, as the player isn't contesting the ball. So bring it on!

If that's the case, it's an atrocious rule.

ah thats easy then

simply when your foot touches the ground fake being tackled thus getting a penalty....well.thats what some people would do.:smirk:

I can see Musgrove and Clark as our starting props. That side will go close to being the round 1 side.

CT instead of Jennings and probably MCK for impact off the bench. One more trial when we put closer to our best team on the field should make things clearer

After watching the trial I'd go with this team.

1. Doueihi
2. Nofolauma
3. BJ Leilua
4. Mbye
5. Thompson

6. Benji
7. Brooks

8. Musgrove
9. Walters
10. Twal
11. Garner
12. L Leilua
13. Eisenhuth

14. Aloiai
15. Mikaele
16. Taylor
17. Chee-Kam

I’d be tempted to have Jennings on one of the wings but otherwise agree with you.

Going by that bench, you think Walters would play 80? I can’t see that myself.

I was going to write that I'd prefer a utility on the bench. The problem is Reynolds is so bad he doesn't deserve a spot yet. If he starts to play better I'd put him there. At the moment ET to 9 or Mbye to 9 and Chee-Kam into the centres appear to be better options than carrying Reynolds on the bench if/when Walters needs a break. If we get Grant or Simpkins gets a shot that could change things.
