Never heard of him 5150 , what position ...local junior ...star sign ....whatever you can supply would be nice

I havent seen anything of him other than the videos posted here but I remember a month or so ago someone posted news from the camp, I think via the Cougar (Pre Latrell and Pre Doueihi) and M Johns was mentioned as training for the fullback spot.

Based on the videos Ive watched, he is a big kid, plays fullback, centre, wing (looks big enough to end up in 2nd row) won J Flegg player of the year two years ago at Dragons, has spent a year at Penrith since, Dragons junior (South Coast)

What time are our games ??

I Genuinely have no idea what can please some of you on here. Seem to be very hard markers.

We have taken a squad with 13 players with first grade experience (out of 18). Which is high for any club.

We have a good mix of Finishers for a 9s format.

We have not risked our starting 1,6 or 7 for the season (no injury), which is smart.

Have a look at Canberra or manly if you want to see a poor side.

This was a real opportunity to blood some of our outstanding, fast and evasive young backs. Instead, we get more of the visionless and one dimensional NRL backs who clearly lack pace and evasive sills. The fact that the most interest centres around Matheson Johns says it all really.

I would have liked to see our spine build some combinations in match conditions ..but if Madge thinks we are good you have to back him

its saying that our first game is at 6.40pm local time. is that local time in perth? or here in sydney? and if it is perth , then what time is it here?

Surprised Dylan Smith isn’t getting a run.

Some here on the forum don’t rate him, for others the jury is still out.

Considering he’s in the top 30, the 9’s would’ve been a good format to see what he could do.

He looks more like a strong second rower playing centre.

I do not know what to make of this side. We have not named a top squad looking to compete for the title, but have named a bunch of well known fringe players.

We also seem to have an excess number of forwards in the squad.

Glad to see Seyfarth, Madden, Walters & Talau.

Can't understand McIntyre, McQueen, MCK.

From a risk perspective would rather Nofa, Mikaele & Garner were left at home.

Would have liked to have seen Clark, Dylan Smith, Cini, Simpkin & Bradley named.

Johns & Joey Alphabet are interesting selections. Either they are impressing, are cannon fodder or it has been decided that some of the young guns are not up to it or should not be exposed.

Matheson Johns is very one dimensional and likes to do it on his own - not really a team player in my opinion

Sounds like the perfect player for Nines.

Matheson Johns would definitely be a Madge favourite. He looks hungry with his runs in this link and then quite modest about improving further during interview when he wins St George Flegg player of the year in 2018:

We snuck in under the guard of the Dragons and signed him .. Dragons had big hopes for this kid .. large lump of lad for centre but plenty field awareness about .. knows how to sniff out the try line .. Not the quickest, but with his size he carries and the above average speed he has .. he is a very much a handful for any centre out there .. not shy of taking a hit up the forwards to have a rest either. Will more than likely fill out some more and find himself as ball running backrower. Put this kid down as a smoky for the top grade later in the season .. !!
