Wests Tigers A.B.

He has been inconsistent in the past. As he has matured he has improved that consistency. There has always been one thing with Benji that sticks with me, and that is yes he can do some silly things, but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind if we are playing a game thats close and trailing on the scorboard, until that final siren sounds we are a great chance of winning the game because we have him.

He is undoubtedly already the greatest player to ever play for Wests Tigers, and is still just coming to the peak of his powers.

To the earlier poster referring to Johns and Lockyer, i just can't agree with that. Two all time legends of the game who are both destined to be immortals. In fact in season 2011 WT v Broncos was billed as the battle between Lockyer and Marshall which the Broncos won easily with Lockyer having a great game and Benji very quiet.
Anyway we are all entitled to differing opinions.

But your right Ink, we must win premierships with him. During last season i posted i could understand the push for a better fwd pack in regards to the cleanout as we needed to utilise the great backs we had and take full advantage of having one of if not the most dangerous attacking player on our roster. It's also my belief now as it was then, he will not be replaced when he retires or moves on which means we have a relatively short time period to enjoy and achieve as much success as we can.

Silly thread! The legendary Marshall is atleast 5years away from retiring, y r ppl worrying now! I want to swap lives with u if worrying about the tigers in 5 years is ur biggest concern! Just sit back and enjoy him!

Not my biggest concern mate, its just a discussion, a look into the future and what we think should happen between now and then

ive played and watched Rugby league since 1964 and ive seen a lot of good footballers although there are mistakes in him he is the most exciting and enjoyable player that ive ever seen, heres a question for you
if you had an option to have either Sonny Bill Williams or Benji Marshall in your side who would you pick
my answer is Benji anyday at least he would be loyal to the Team

Benji any day of the week over any player in history.. SBW??? Who the hell is that clown! Take benji in a heartbeat

Ive been reading with interest about some of the comments regarding life after Benji. He wont be easily replaced. To the game he will because the next one will just roll along but to a club these sorts of players come along every 10-15 years. Look at how other clubs have moved on after legends have retired.

Eels are looking for the next Sterlo, Knights struggling with life after Johns. I feel Broncos will be the same without Lockyer.

His only flaw is his inability to find a capable manager:

Trying to pick a Locke
PLAYER agent Martin Tauber has been up to his old tricks, attempting to poach Kiwi Test and Warriors fullback Kevin Locke from another stable. Tauber’s main client Benji Marshall got in Locke’s ear on the Four Nations tour of England last year and
then signed him to a contract when he returned home.
>
To the Warriors’ amazement, Tauber started shopping Locke around for 2013 and got a major bite from the Roosters. The only problem is that Locke is signed with the Warriors until 2014 and is under contract to SFX. When SFX’s George Mimis got wind of it, he fired off a strongly-worded legal letter to Tauber.

I didnt cry when Elias, sirro, Pearce, Jack or Blocker retired.
Cant promise the same for Benji.

He is a superhero on and off the feild and after reading his book i look at him in a different way also.

I can't say with certainty he will be the best Wests Tiger ever, or even for the next 25 years. But what I do know is that he will be the JV's first legend and I will have been fortunate enough to see him play, speak to him and watch his whole career unfold in front of me.

He's a once in a generation player, I'll probably never see someone like him again in my lifetime.

I have no doubt that he is the greatest player of the modern era and after he retires should be made an immortal

slight problem with that… He is a Kiwi?!

You don't have to be Australian do you? I know it started that way but has it since changed?

How many Kiwis or players from other countries have been named?

You only have to look at any photo relating to the Immortals to realise they are wearing the Australian Rugby League Jumper…

Either way, I think he will need to achieve a little more in his career before he would come close to touted an "Immortal".

I also thought you had to keep an active involvement in the game for a number of years after you retired?

I'm not saying he won't, but as far as Benji is concerned, he is still awhile off yet.
