Wests Tigers announce Steeden as apparel partner

Last years home jersey with an away gold variant with a black V would have been perfect as the 2 mainstay jerseys going forward I reckon.

I really dislike this years jerseys they look amateur in my opinion. I know the collar is supposed to look like a footy but it reminds me of a toilet seat 😄

The only problem with that is some people would argue about which emblem should be on the right sleeve and which on the left sleeve.I can just see 400+ pages of discussion going around in circles.

Really? When was the last time a wests/balmain argument happened on here? Years ago, issues about home grounds and jersey design are discussed cordially these days.

Certainly most people feel that way, but there are still a few who have an axe to grind on both sides

I dont come across that here anymore here. There's lots on facebook though.

It occasionally comes up on here but people shut it down fairly quickly. Members of this forum have generally moved on from those arguments.

I still love the Balmain Tiger emblem, obviously for political reasons we can't bring it back, and for more obvious reasons I am sentimentally attached to it as an old Balmain supporter.

But still yet to see a better Tiger emblem anywhere in the world than the Balmain Tiger emblem we finished with pre-merger. I like that it's quite realistic rather than the stylised emblems that 95% of clubs go for now.

. . . Hi J, the reasons are probably more economical than political, but surely you can't be unhappy about the relative representation of the 2 merged clubs on our jersey, our club nick-name, etc ? surely not !
As far as "bringing it back" . . . there's no "bringing it back" . . . it's always been there.
We have to put sentimentality aside, otherwise the Magpies fans are right to complain about . . . well, you know . There's no need to go into details.
Otherwise they'll call me divisive.

No I have no issue with the current branding or jersey choices. The question was going around "should we update the emblem" and I don't really mind if they do it, or don't do it. But I still maintain the Balmain Tiger is the best representation of a Tiger in emblem form that I've seen. Every other stylised emblem seems to draw out the eventual argument of "showing its age".

Yes, and I think that concept ties in with the "sentimental" aspect you mentioned.
Unless a piece of art today is intentionally "old school", it usually has to have a modern take on it.

Hahahaha that thought crossed my mind when posting

I liked the Balmain and Western Suburbs heritage jerseys we wore at the SCG, pretty sure around '09 or '10. Simple designs with the V. Can't find an image of them to put up.
I remember Tuiaki wearing the Balmain one so that must've been '09.

Regarding our jerseys, I’m pretty sure the idea is to have the 2021 home and away jerseys ‘set in stone’ for the foreseeable future and only the concept jerseys change ie indigenous round, Anzac round etc

What makes you say that?

Talking with people at the club

Oh them... They'll tell
ya what you wanna hear

Whatever we make I’ll buy and pretend it’s the best jersey in the comp.
I don’t love our logo lol it’s very dated now.it reminds me of when the Eels,Panthers,Sharks all had whack looking logos.
Balmain and The Magpies had seriously good looking ones.

The bright orange in our jersey isn't the same as the Balmain gold, but the Wests Tigers logo doesn't have the gold on it, it has the bright orange so that's why they use that colour I'm assuming. It's the only bright orange jersey in the comp which makes us stand out so we should stick with it

Sorry for the bad paint job, but if we are looking at removing the paws, I think removing the whiskers improves the logo massively.

Do people identify with “wests tigers” or is a redesigned tiger , and maybe est2000 enough ? I was all about including the magpie until I realised most don’t care. I’m of the Balmain side, and I wasn’t sure if it still resonated .
What about below .

So you’ve been banging out about the current logo saying it’s dated & blah , blah blah etc ..
And this is all you can come up with 😂
A bastardised version of what we already have 🙄

I'm basing it off the people saying we are going to use just the tiger from the current logo like the club has started to do. If that is where we are going I believe that it looks better without the whiskers.

Are you feeling alright mate? You have been a little grumpy the last few days

Well I’d say your current assumptions of the logo being changed are baseless .
Yes I’m feeling fine !

I wasn't the one that raised the possibility of it being changed? Just responded to it.
