WESTS TIGERS - COACH IVAN CLEARY..OFFICIAL

Seriously the stuff that some of you guys buy into, or don't buy into, from press conferences amazes me. Hate for what JT says in public, hate for Woods not being decisive enough about his future, hate for Moses and Tedesco for commenting "like millennials", but a sort of fuzzy warm "like" today of Ivan Cleary because he's new leather without much baggage or worn excuses.

His press conference today is meaningless - his comments, his poise (or lack of), his demeanour, his bagging or not of previous management… all mean nothing today. He's walked in, talked to some people, arranged his desk how he likes it and answered a few emails.

I am pleased Cleary is on-board, now let's have the footy doing the talking.

Yes he's defiantly a cool customer and a confident speaker. Initial thoughts are that of 'Finally someone's in charge' however he has a big big job ahead of him. As much as he doesn't want to right off the season I think deep down he knows it is.
Think he's got an agenda sort of maped out and the first will be to work out who's staying and who's going of the famous 4.

Yaaaaaaaay. I'm a happy little vegemite now. Really looking forward to seeing what Cleary brings to the team. Not expecting miracles this year though.

Hey All, old time poster who has jumped back on after a few years in limbo….it's a great positive start for a new future. Fingers crossed he can kick some behinds into having pride in their current performances, not what they are assumed to be owed in the future....

I thought he came across very well. He's an impressive guy.

Yeah ..I agree came across as a humble guy …paid respect to the previous coaching staff ..as well as strong in his belief of what he can bring to the Club Players and Fans..

I liked his stance of buy in or leave,,,

All of the above
Watched the PC and in 10 minutes he gave the distinct impression that he is the boss of teams, recruitment etc and in his words " the buck stiops with him"
Believable and honesty with players and club give me a different positive perspective for the weststigers, something that has been absent for far too long
Welcome to weststigers Ivan

Sung to the tune of the Jimmy Cliff classic - "I Can See Clearly"

I can see Cleary now that Taylor’s gone
He was the only obstacle in our way
Gone are the bad score lines with us behind
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Oh, yes I can make it now that Taylor’s gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
He wasn’t the type of coach I like playing for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Look all around, we’ve purchased a few new buys
Look straight ahead, we’ve let in a lot less tries

I can see Cleary now that Taylor’s gone
He was the only obstacle in our way
Cleary's the right coach I'll be playing for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
Bright (bright), bright (bright)
Bright sunshiny day

Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now

Well done!

A huge piece of the puzzle.

Now, it's up to the lads on the field - there simply isn't any excuse for poor attitude on the field.

If I was the Cowboys, I'd be worried.

I WONDER IF HIS SON HAS A RELEASE CLAUSE, IF HIS DAD GOT A NRL CONTRACT.

He did have one but got that removed with his new deal he signed . Contracts mean jack these Days there are ways in breaking them if desired by Club and players .

Welcome aboard Ivan.

I hope you get all the support you need.

I like most supporters are now looking forward to an improved West Tigers.

Wonder if he had that same conversation with four individuals?

In the presser he said he has addressed the Squad as a whole as well as spoken to individuals..

Great stuff, about 18 months too late, but better late than never, welcome mate I think you are the man to fix this mess.

great article. Especially the player problems.

This is the first coach since Sheens that instils confidence in me and has broadly been lauded as a good hiring from the media and also smart analysts like Phil Gould amongst others.
I believe he will attract players and also be best able to negotiate fair deals with the players he wants to keep. I have a feeling we will fire towards the back end of the season irrespective of who's being walked.

I think that Most are relieved that we have a quality Coach for the first time since Tim Sheens
We werall, or most of us were sick of the excuses for failures. It's up to him now.
