Wests Tigers has today announced props Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita will leave the Club at the end of this season.

Both players will join Cronulla Sharks for the 2012 season on 3 year deals.

Gibbs was a member of the 2005 premiership winning Wests Tigers team and has played 143 NRL games for the Club.

Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said that Gibbs would be fondly remembered by Wests Tigers fans as a fierce competitor who always gave 100 per cent commitment to his team-mates and the Club.

“Bryce has been a great servant of Wests Tigers for many years and we wish him and his family the very best for the future,’’ said Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.

Despite taking up the option for 2012 on Fifita, Wests Tigers decided not to stand in his way of accepting a lucrative offer. Fifita has played 35 games for Wests Tigers.

“It was an extremely difficult decision for the Club to make given Andrew’s development here but it is a great opportunity for him personally and we could not lose sight of that,” Humphreys said.

“I know Bryce and Andrew are very determined to finish the season strongly and help Wests Tigers make the finals.”

Good luck and all the best to Fifita and Gibbs at the Sharks for next season and beyond. Hard to see decent players leave the club like this, and particularly Fifita who is developing very well in the front row.

Agreed

I hope blair is worth it

Someone please remember to bump this topic at the end of 2015

the Blair announcement isn't what i'm waiting for coz thats a done deal.I'm waiting for 1 or 2 more signings on top of Blair

Its sad i can only assume in relation to Fifita it's purely financial. I'm really really saddened by this and the club i feel really need to back this up by announcing something big soon.

We cannot just develop these players for 3 years and let them go so i hope this was a players desision not the club's.

My son will be very upset

Yes Is this the end of the players leaving or will we see more ??. Good luck To Bryce and Andrew You have both served the club well Lets now concentrate on attempting to win a premiership

It's always sad to see a young player like Fifita with so much potential go to another club. Not looking forward to the day when he carves us up. Good luck to Gibbsy, it'll be strange to see him in another jersey

I hope Gibbs kicks on in his career and enjoys the rest of the season with the Tigers…

Fifita, has it all infornt of him and will need to lift if he is going to reach his potential... I'm sure many will be looking on in anticipation over the next couple of years.

Good luck boys.... Surely now they can announce the new signing!!!

I wouldn't expect any news on Blair until at least after we play the Storm.

On Gibbs and Fifita it is always bittersweet to watch players developed moving on but there are reasons behind it all. We have secured some young forward talent coming through the ranks and can hope that they match up to what we lose.

Even though we took up the option on Fifita it is very hard to expect him to play his best football for you when the club, if figures quoted are correct, would have been denying up to about two hundred thosand dollars a year. Professionalism only goes so far.

The Gibbonators defence will be sorely missed but again it is a long term deal which secures a future for his young family.

I wish them all the best of luck but a few poor results each year when facing their old club

It would be great to be able to have 25 contracted super stars but the cap dosnt allow that luxury, hard calls had to be made and Iam sure their will be a couple more. Sad to see a great clubman and a real potential star go but really our management are damned if they do and damned if they dont.

I think it will turn out a good call

At this stage of life it,s a good move for Gibbs will freshen him up new outlook..it will be interesting to see if Fifita does reach the great heights some hear feel ..these types of players come and go has been lazy in the past and Sheens soughted him out so time will tell can't blame him for going for the money only in the game to the next tackle.

It must be difficult to decide who to keep and who to let go, when you have a bunch of up-and-coming young forwards. We can only hope "they" have picked the right ones to keep.
