Wests Tigers confirm Jason Taylor as new coach

Not sure if this has been covered. Or if this is the place for it. But it doesn't warrant a new thread.

Did anyone hear Magquire on NRL360 last night talking about Lote? Basically went on to say when he joined souths the training nearly killed him. He couldn't keep up with the rest of the squad and was part of the reason he was dropped. Didn't really elaborate if he was unfit because of injuries or unfit because the Tigers didn't train nearly hard as the Souths did.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he is 35 years old.

He was dropped at the Weststigers as well.

Could it be because of the all natural performance enhancing supplements that the rabbits take !!!

No.
Lote said in an interview mud year the set up at Souths was much more professional, the training was much harder and intense, the feedback he got over any concerns re injury etc was ten fold at Souths compared to here

If you read the post by the member of the Roosters Strength and Conditioning Group, who are recognised by those in the "industry" to be leaders in Rugby League (But behind AFL, the Waratahs and some others.) Wests Tigers do the wrong type of exercises for their sport.
Maybe the Tigers training/conditioning was not suitable for rugby league with the science now available.

Souths may be more professional , but lote wasn't exactly a bundle of fitness when he was with us ,I'd say he has dropped 8 to 10 ks since he left us

if true, that could quite possibly be due to the better training facilities at Souths.

Listening to the match review of the GF last night on the Footy Show was interesting

Maloney was talking about the Roosters v Rabbits game and he was saying that he has never had a side keep coming at them like they did

He said the Rabbits just didn't tire and just kept the same intensity for the 80 minutes

So who's fault was that?

It is etched in my mind how he was welcomed straight from injury into the Tigers NRL side, well overweight, muffin tops over his shorts, huffing and puffing after only 10 mins.

At Souths he has had to earn his top grade spot - and train hard and improve all aspects of his game. And that comes easier through being fit.

Our team has been seriously underdone for years and that will need to change if they are to vastly improve.

Agree with Barra and 1/4 on this one. It explains the endless stream of injuries we have every year. Poor facilities and poor attitude

Heard Taylor on continuous call today. I must say he sounded really impressive. He highlighted strength & conditioning as a major concern for us as we continually have a lot of injuries. He also said he is looking for assistants who will compliment him. I am starting to understand why he is so widely regarded. Happy days ahead

Take from this what you want.

Through oztag I got to know Kurt Wrigley abit, he is best mates with Nathan brown. Last week (before the announcement of Taylor) he Told me that brown had the tigers board if he got the job he was going to put a broom through the place and no one was safe. He was going to go to announce that the captaincy was up for grabs. He wanted to watch the players in preseason and then appoint a captain when he was satisfied she had the right man. This wasn't a witch hunt to get rid of Farah as he would have the same opportunity as everyone else to get it.

He said that whilst nothing was said directly, brown got the impression this wasn't what the board wanted. No idea what any of the other candidates said, and this could have had nothing to do with brown not getting the job, however the hunch last week did turn out to be right

very interesting given this article: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/revealed-sports-science-secrets-of-the-south-sydney-rabbitohs-as-they-head-into-grand-final/story-fni3gki8-1227073247432

i get the feeling most of it is placebo, but maybe there's more to it than meets the eye? initally dismissed it as your usual 'power band' scam but maybe not

thanks for the insight.

i dont really know if that's the approach the club needs.

farah is the best player on the team, and by far the most suited to captaincy despite how the media has bashed him and mayer.

keep in mind triple m, ch 9 and fox will all take gordys side…

I dont care if he's the best player on the team, and let's face it, with the team we have assembled at the moment - It's really not high praise.

Farah has proven himself completely unable to lead on multiple occasions this year, in fact he's never been a great captain. This club can't find it's way back with him at the top.
