Wests Tigers could call Campbelltown home due to Balmain’s financial woes

It's a matter of time before the NRL acts on reducing Clubs in Sydney Telltails, then what are we going to do then? Rest assured Wests Tigers will be one of those as Balmain won't be funding the Club any longer.
Fact of the matter is most people watch the Footy from home and people only go to our games when we are winning, we can't be relying on funds when we are only winning and even then the Crowds are still low.

It's a touchy subject i know and many won't like it after what we been through in merging but to ensure our Survival we need to act IMO or 15,000 - 20,000 members is what's required to be in Sydney…..then again there won't be any guarantees.

Becoming a joint venture ensured we wouldn't have to relocate. Pretty there was a guarantee about this. The NRL will look at other clubs before us, i.e the Sharks. We've made our sacrifice.

That was 16 years ago and a lot of things change in that time. You would like to think that we have done our bit and sacrifice and they leave us alone.
But i believe if the NRL look at reducing Sydney teams They will leave the ones that are able to self fund themselves and that haven't ever needed the NRL for help.
Unfortunately it's all about the money and if we don't get a massive influx of members or at least 15,000 to each game we could be a target for the NRL if they want to reduce sides.
It would be on a scale of who's doing the best in memberships and crowds, the ones on the bottom could be at risk.

That may well be the case but looking at the AFL with mergers and relocations i don't think that is the future for expansion. Easy just to pickup a team/brand/logo etc and move it but the residual effects pain/anger/distrust from fans is too much.

New location needs a new team, a new brand altogether. The continual talk from media and some fans of us going to Perth needs to stop. Just because we have 'wests' in our makeup doesn't mean we are a perfect fit for WA. But the media will push this barrow forever to gain attention.

WE HAVE MERGED - that's our bit for reducing teams in Sydney!

St. George and Illawarra have merged, maybe they should add the Sharks.

Now, how about Parramatta and Penrith have a go.

OR ( I am in favor of this) "Pride of the League" and the "Rorters" - they have the smallest area in Sydney. Why two teams?

Doesn't matter who's winning, who has more members - the idea is to reduce Sydney teams for the benefit of all and the NRL. Glad we have done our bit.

Perth - well if they deserve a team (one thing to get a few people once a year, different when you have to do it a dozen times a season), forget people from here going, they would have to do it all over there. The odd Sydney teams out are Manly and Canterbury - maybe they can merge, or one to Perth and one to Adelaide.

Problem solved - must send this off the Todd.

You're right. We have done our bit and Perth has no juniors. Wouldn't work.

I dunno how we keep our junior bases if we moved to Perth… We'd lose them

Yeah very good point….I didn't think of that.

It would take a good 5 to 10 years to convert the people of Perth from AFL.
Fade To Black might be able to give us an insight how strong Rugby league is after the Western Reds demise.

Yeah….I suppose no point talking about something or getting worked over something that may never occur.

Perth alone has 11 clubs and there is also a Pilbarra comp. From memory there is about 3000 juniors in WA.

Rugby league in WA is bigger than it is in Vic. Considering Vic has a larger population and has had an NRL team for 16 years makes it pretty impressive. There's quite a few players from here playing NYC atm.

Gallagher how would you feel in us going over there ?

FT if we go over there we are not 'us' anymore we become theirs. Let the NRL sink their millions into developing a team on their own.

Yeah I take your point but must admit…..it is a concern if the NRL decides to reduce the teams in Sydney .
I know when we became a Joint Venture in 2000 we got an 8 year Licence , not sure on our current licence and when it runs out....could it be 2018 ?

It would be convenient to me that's for sure! !! But no. We're a Sydney club, i reckon we have the potential to be as big and as strong as the dogs and souths.
I'm not a believer in relocations for any one.

2025 i Believe

What Wests & Balmain did back in '99 would have no consequence to any actions regarding reducing Sydney teams from '16 and beyond….they would only look at where everyone is at the time the decisions made and the foreseeable future imo...past wouldnt come into it
