Benij did play differently when he went back to 6\. He still quite often got the ball at first receiver but also at times played much wider, (i.e the Ashyford try against Parra), which he wasn't doing at 7\. If you go have a look at some of the tapes from 2008 and earlier when he was playing 6 he would never get the ball at first reciever and often we would go through whole sets without him having a touch.
The 7 "experiment" although it may not have worked in the traditional sense, has given Benji the confidence to come in to first receiver when he wants to and take control, but still run amok a bit wider at second or third reciever. He's now effectively playing a bit of halfback and a bit of 5/8th where as early in the season he was playing wholly as a half back. But he never would have become that kind of player if Sheens hadn't moved him to 7\. So maybe the poor first half of the season was the recession we had to have for long term success.
