Wests Tigers fined $187,140 for 2010 cap breach

It appears we all agree the NRL are hacks…. So I wonder how many Clubs got away with being over the Cap by smarter management that the Audit didnt pick up...

C'mon Humpty, we need you to play smarter than this...Smarter management = hiding it better!!!

Chunk what is that meant to mean. but since in your infinate wisdom you secided to post a silly comment i will respond. i love the joint venture mate and always have but if it was not for the magpies it would not have happened. Balmain were broke with no way out. the magpies have 2 leagues clubs and put the majority of cash in after the NRL gave us 8 mill for the merger. so mate pull your head in and stop trying to start arguments.

OUCH fair whack. Im Tipping these jerseys that we're all waiting on will be on the shelves ASAP to make up for lost revenue.

don't worry bug theres alwayz been an element inside Balmain supports who believe Wests supporters shouldn't have an opinion n should just b happy to have a team to support…in a perfect world they'd like to think the merger is a takeover like the St George chokers but will never be the case...they're the WESTS tigers Black WHITE n Gold

agreed im sure the faction who look down on Wests don't complain n wouldn't give back 2 leagues clubs n the 2nd largest junior base in the NRL

I don't see how it's WT's fault that he wants to leave and have a more senior coaching role at another club. Can't stop him. What? We are just going to throw endless money at him and see if he wants to stay as a strength and conditioner trainer? That would be bad management to me. Pay him what he's worth, and if he wants to move on so be it. Without knowing what went down, how can you blame Humphreys, it is disappointing though, but not like there aren't any better trainers out there anyway.

Wasn't the whole debacle about the Tigers assuming they would get cap concessions for juniors (Gibbs and Farah) because they played Flegg for WT feeders whereas the NRL didn't agree as they stipulate it is only applicable to Toyota Cup teams, of which Farah & Gibbs never played for because it didn't exist?

Here we go another one.lol

Balmain survived the post super league criteria if we didnt join….... wests were gone.

Balmain wasnt broke.

You can have 10 clubs and the football club can still go bust look at penrith.

2nd biggest junior area? but is it your true heartland.......No

How did this turn into Balmain v wests - get over it.

I say well done Wests Tigers - stupid rule - we gave them the finger - they fines us - we'll fight it - we'll lose and pay.

another wat? another ex magpie? funny there'd b Wests fans around aye…just a question...how many times has Balmain Leagues almost gone under in the last few yrs?

$187140 fine :blah :blah So what!!!
Are we playing for points this weekend=YES
Are we able to win the premiership in 2011=YES

All the magpie fans need to have a bex & lay down

And of course this has NOTHING to do with Fulton and/or Gibbs and/or Payten leaving the club but why let the truth get in the way of a rant BB! Personally I blame Tim Sheens and/or Stephen Humphreys who I also hold responsible for (but not limited to) global warming, the Japanese nuclear disaster, and the downgrading of Pluto's status as a planet.

Sorry Mods, back on topic…It looks like this isn't over yet but it does again demonstrate one of the largest failings in the salary cap - the lack of incentive in developing your own juniors. It's almost anything goes for 3rd party deals but bugger all for juniors.

If I owned a company that costs $15 million dollars a year to run, and my CEO threw $187K out the window, I would be upset at him.

That is a fair chunk !!

With the way you carry on Bug, if you owned a company worth $15 million there'd be no CEO stupid enough to want to work under you.

Yeah specially when they dont exist as a nrl team for the past 12 years.

Balmain leagues has had the same financial difficulties as any other licensed clubs in nsw.

You can have the richest leagues club and that is no guarantee the football club will be succesful.

Im just pointing out to matty tiepie that it wasnt west that saved balmain it was the other way around just like dragons did to illawarra and manly to norths.

Give the Wests V Balmain BS a rest fellas, it's got nothing to do with the subject at hand.

As far as I'm concerned there's no harm done other than the monetary penalty. It wasn't systematic rorting like the Melbourne Fraud and we fully disclosed we'd be overs.

Wests should call a press conference and the entire first grade squad walk out of the dressing room behind Sheens. Sheens then reads a prepared statement on behalf of the players.
