Wests Tigers fined $187,140 for 2010 cap breach

Wests should call a press conference and the entire first grade squad walk out of the dressing room behind Sheens. Sheens then reads a prepared statement on behalf of the players.

Im just pointing out to matty tiepie that it wasnt west that saved balmain it was the other way around just like dragons did to illawarra and manly to norths.

That is a pretty naive statement.

Whilst they met the criteria in 1999, Balmain merged as they knew they were not financially viable let alone competitive over the long term as a stand alone club in the NRL. Balmain needed to merge with someone and the option at the time was Parramatta.

What would you have preferred? Wests or Parra?

The breach is bought about because the NRL in their wisdom refused to count the time at Balmain & Wests spent by Farah and Gibbs because they are not Wests Tigers is the basic gist I believe.

It is a breach, big deal. It is only money. Something we have alot more of now we have a decent sponsorship suite.

Yep - it isn't a big deal although I'd like us to not pay it and give it to me as a salary top up.

These things happen and it is not outright rorting unlike teams have done in the past.

Well der i know that gary …..talk about naive ....look at matty tiepie comments which i was replying to.

It was more the fact that at the time the nrl was going to cut 2 more teams so cause balmain were on the bottom end of making it they decided for the long term future they had better merge.

Wests were my second team so id rather wests but im not the one that starts saying balmain were broke and west saved our ass which is not true.

On topic it sounds like the nrl got us on technicality.50-50

I'm sorry I thought this was a WESTS TIGERS forum..

Balmain nor Wests Magpies exisit anymore in the NRL guys. Get over it and focus on WESTS TIGERS if you can't please set up your own individual sites and cry, rant and stamp your collective feet on there and leave us to support the ONE club WESTS TIGERS.

time to build a bridge….....

To slag off the CEO is just ignorant and shameful. He has done for WESTS TIGERS than anyone since coming on board. So there isn;t a B & W shirt, boo hoo. Buy a WESTS TIGER Black, White and Gold one and get over it.

If I owned a company that costs $15 million dollars a year to run, and my CEO threw $187K out the window, I would be upset at him.

That is a fair chunk !!

well buying ineffective players could be classified as throwing money out the window… so canberra are still worse off this year as they spent more than $187,140 on matt orford.

by doing it this way, the players still receive their money - so there are no contractual issues with them and they are happy. the clubs just wares the cost of keeping the players happy.

its also not as if the $187,000 has gone to no body, that it has been blown at the casino or into the pokies. its gone to the nrl and back into the g ame of rugby league...

whilst it sucks to lose that amount of money, in the overall scheme of things its nothing.

But neither is this comment:

You can't blow up if someone claims Wests saved Balmain and then make the comment in reverse. Neither is correct.

Neither is correct…..oh ok no worries then ah.You must be right

This thread has been hijacked enough. Get back on the alleged salary cap breach topic and stay on this topic or this thread will be locked.

So they should, I'm assuming the club got legal advise and are confident we'll be proven right. Stephen Humphreys is a smart operator, if he thinks we'll win, be confident we'll get a good result. I think this is the NRL's way to take back some of the money HUmphreys stole from them when he snookered them into paying us a huge amount of money to take our semi last year to the SFS. Gallop doesn't like being held to ransom and this is his way of pay back. Look out Mr Gallop, our boy Humpheys is about to go 2-0 against you

I am a lot more at ease with this whole thing now knowing that we are gonna fight the fine. I am all calm and relaxed now.

Good to hear that you've relaxed now Bug. But Humphs is right…..you would look much better in a Black & Gold jersey...
:roll

 I am so glad to hear this….next time a little less of this :rant and more of this

It's all to do with interpretation..Wests Tigers should receive this concession both players came through OUR systems...

Will we get punished more?? like storm last year?? :bawling
