Wests Tigers fined $187,140 for 2010 cap breach

If we had lost the grand final last year to a team over the cap we would all be spewing !
( remember feeling crappy after 1989 anyone?)
The management at WestsTigers should know the rules - if they fight it and get off all's well.
If not they deserve a big boot up the backside.

I am a lot more at ease with this whole thing now knowing that we are gonna fight the fine. I am all calm and relaxed now.

Good to hear that you've relaxed now Bug. But Humphs is right…..you would look much better in a Black & Gold jersey...
:roll

But, they should have had both available at the same time !!

I know people are saying that we will sort out this issue , but they knew what was going on with the rulings in regards to the players involved with the junior entitlements and were told they would not be exempt if they went ahead with it and chose to do so anyway . Why ?? Because they did not agree with it . How does that make us any different to the Storm or the Bulldogs ?? Very disappointing the heads of our club have let us down (there customers if you choose to look at it that way ) If you are a member you are a customer .

Consider what may have been the option if the Tigers didn't consider the long term player concession…..what players would have missed out last year to bring us under the salary cap. To call Gibbs and Farah anything but original "Wests and/or Tigers" is insane. They are black/white and gold through and through.

Question Mods or any else who may know . If we have had the issue last year are we going to have the same issue this year or will the money from not having Tui or Cayless enough to offset that ?? Because my understanding is that the players in question eligiblity won't start until next year unless the IC changes the rules in the mean time or NRL backs down on the ruling (which I don't think it will) Is that correct or am I barking up the wrong tree ???

For me this is not such a big thing as long as it does not adversely affect our buying capacity next year.

Well it would of been nice to have a bit of money spare in this years cap if a good signing pops up before the June 30 deadline

Chunk what is that meant to mean. but since in your infinate wisdom you secided to post a silly comment i will respond. i love the joint venture mate and always have but if it was not for the magpies it would not have happened. Balmain were broke with no way out. the magpies have 2 leagues clubs and put the majority of cash in after the NRL gave us 8 mill for the merger. so mate pull your head in and stop trying to start arguments.

Its a fact the Tigers brand and the orange & black is what is appealling to the 'fan'.

More of this type of merchandise is sold. More fans supported Balmain

I love the Wests Tigers and the Magpies and glad we took them over, I couldn't have thought of a better club to be in bed with.

I'm sure Mr Humphrey's has the Wests Tigers at heart and markets the brand accordingly.

Some are saying on here that Stephen "knew" he was acting outside the rules because he was informed by the League not to do it (ie include a discount for the 2 players in question). Are we sure thats the case ? I think otherwise its a pretty serious accusation to make.

I'm not sure what the old Magpies will think about that!

On the salary cap issue, good on the Tigers for holding their ground - I believe they are right on the issue.

I can't quote this forum but I know I was talking to another Tigers supporter about it last year over a few ales and we wondered who the Tigers were going to let go or downgrade to get us under cap . I thought this was pretty common knowledge amongst Tigers fans . Obviously not ?

The Magpies were glad they took over Balmain as well. All Balmain had going for it was the Tiger logo and its powerful merchandise appeal. Nothing else of any real value. Now there is a big WESTS in front of the tiger. Lovely.

Give it a rest and stick to the bloody topic! There are numerous other threads dedicated to the pathetic JV squabbling.

They will pay the bill or challenge in court and not pay the bill. This will all be over in a couple of weeks, but the JV squabbling will go forever!

In saying that, I think it is great we went over the cap. $187,140 is a small price to pay for getting within 1 point of another grand final.

That wasn't a dig at you Gary. I know the internal BS will go on forever, but it hijacks every second thread and the same argument is dredged up every time.

And thats an interesting point you make the breach getting us within 1 point of a grand final. I hadn't thought of it that way

Do you reckon they'd be singing the same tune if we went all the way though?

chunk believes what he wants to believe. it helps him sleep better at night. it's like how some of bin laden's followers still wont admit that he is dead, lol
