This role seems custom built for Wayne Pearce tbh. A nice nod to the Balmain side who are waning to boot.

NO THANKS

We have had to put up with boofhead Roach and the man who robbed balmain in backdoor benny

The less there is of old champion footballers in management the better. Management aptitude is a necessity for management roles and very few footballers have that aptitude.

X 2

It cannot be an ex Balmain or ex Wests player. There needs to be signs of coherence otherwise every decision made will be seen as biased etc …

My 2 cents

Amateur hour yet again at the Tigers. This is a role that should be head hunted… Not posted on Seek. You reckon the Panthers filled this role with Phil Gould through Seek? Bloody hell

:deadhorse:

Spot on Alex, Panthers chased Gould. I think they should have advertised for a new CEO on Seek.

Don't worry about applying… they role has been 'filled' prior to the job posting.

It happens as often as not in the corporate world, where advertising a role is just a way of feigning due-diligence

Would be a big boost to Potter if the GM had any say in his retention. From memory Potter was the first bloke Mullholland went after when starting up the Western Reds (from very distant memory, I went to a function in 1995 where Mullholland spoke about how he put the team together and his rationale for recruitment - it was very interesting. And boozy. Very boozy)

I'm inclined to agree, got away from the boys club mentality. I don't mind ex-Tigers or Maggies having their about the club but we've got to get away from hiring them. Hire independent people whom have no agenda but to make the club operate successfully.

Peter O'Sullivan would be handy in this role?

Very ,very handy Watto

Only problem is you might need to sell your Sunshine Coast mansion / castle for us to be able to afford him

@ Happy, what would a GM of Football Operations be worth say about 150/160k plus a new coach at say 350k thats if Potter goes..theres 500k for two positions let alone new players, staff etc.Where does all the money come from,I think we have to work within affordability, however we also need someone with great knowledge of the position.

hope we make the right choice…

To get someone half decent you' have to be looking at 300 k + for your GM

For your run of the mill NRL coach your talking 400-500 k

Loose change for Watto , he probably has that much money sitting in the back of his recliner

Costs 13-15 million dollars a year to run a first grade rugby league side. the money comes from lots of different areas such as sponsorship, gate takings, merchandise, nrl funding etc.
