Wests Tigers in secret talks to lure Waratah Ryan Cross back

Ask yourselves this question,

Do you think the Dragons, the Storm or the Bronco's would ever buy a 32 year old Ryan Cross to play in their sides ??

The answer would be NO with all 3.

Well its easy for the storm and broncos and dragons and manly…..they are all winning consistently.....they dont have to look outside the square do they...

How do you know how many clubs have offered cross a contract....dragons got wendell after been banned and im sure he was the same age...they got 2 good years out of him.

If Jake doesn't feel he is getting a go and won't be given one it is his option to leave if he finds greener pastures.

He certainly has talent but it is yet to be tested at the NRL level.

Even in State Cup he is very rocks and diamonds right now.

Well it is the Fonz's job to develop him. Fonz has a distinct inability in developing young players and he is more comfortable buying washed up has beens.

Good point.

It looks like he is buying time with the "has beens" until the young ones have developed. When I put my frustration aside, I can see that he is sometimes between a rock and a hard place. But th :unamused: at is why he gets paid the big bickies

It's crazy to really say he is a dud buy even before he has played.
Hell, he hasn't even been signed yet.
If people think they know more than Humphrey, Sheens etc.
they are crazy.
Utai, sound like a dud signing to you?
What about Tuqiri?
What about Sailor as someone pointed?

Who knows, he might not turn out good,
but as long as the management has Plan B incase he doesn't, I'm fine with it.
There is no point jumping to premature conclusions already.

On topic of the Dragons remember they gave Reece Simmonds (sp?) a contract rather than promote a NYC player

I can see the point some people have been making about bringing in some old heads to help support the younger players next year, but… bringing in Ryan Cross to me feels like an air-swing. While experienced and a notable try scorer at the roosters, at nearly 32, his legs are rickety, he hasn't played NRL for 6 years and only really gets a start in Super Rugby when injuries lead to his selection.

All the talk about TT developing the latest U20s..give me a break..My memory is poor, besides Dwyer and Lui who else and I dont mean the already booted Fifita and todays players.

Who is 'Teflon' ?

The Fonz doesn't rate backs that are less than 6ft tall and 90 kilo's.

It will be a tragedy if Mullany is not groomed for the fullback position. Fonz is great at ruining careers before they start.[/quo

Teflon Tim…...you throw as much as you like at Tim,,but the same as a teflon coated saucepan...NOTHING STICKS..! nothing touches him..

Correct

Only Lawrence, Benji, Farah, Gibbs, Heighno, Fulton, Aysh (in a way),
shortly Woods, Groat and Miller.

Right, he hasn't developed any juniors.. :crazy

Sorry Tig.. are you for or against. They are good names,, not many for the number of years. Benji from Qld /NZ and Aysh from Easts. Also Miller From Easts ?

I disagree, it's right up the Dragons and Storm's alley to do something like that.

I'm saying Sheens has developed some players into awesome first graders.
There maybe some who he may not have though.

I'm not for or against Sheens, I'm just saying I trust him with the development of young players with potential.
My previous post was sarcasm against what you said about Sheens not developing many players.
Are you for/against that?

I know I created this thread but when I saw this on the home page on the left of screen I thought for a sec it said 'Wests Tigers in secret talks to lure _Warren_ Ryan'

That would change our style of play for sure!!

Totally agree Bug. He hates players like Benji, Robbie, Dwyer, Lawrence, Stuart, Daley, Mullins and the Clydes of the game.

The idea that Sheens doesn't develop youngsters is ludicrous.

Benji (yes, he played schoolboy football in Qld- on a Tigers scholarship, mind you..all dvelopment done at Tigers expense), Lawrence, Moltzen, Lui, Dwyer, Woods, Groat, Farah, Fulton, Gibbs, Ayshford (yes, Roosters jnr, but flies in the face of not developing youngsters), Beau Ryan (See Ayshford), Collis, Halatau, Bronson Harrison, Heighington (undeveloped yongster when he joined the club)….Gallowat was a nuffie when he came over, just a big lump- now look at him.
This isn't even including his Canberra days, or that bloke from the Cowboys he developed...what was his name? King? no....Queen? nah, that wasn't it...oh- Prince!

There are few, if any, coaches with as impressive a record of unearthing young talent.

Blame Sheens for poor team selections, or poor game plans- but try & be realistic, the guy knows young talent & how to make them first graders.

I disagree. The Fonz tries to plug holes in his first grade team of particular players he wants in there. The fact that he has a good sized nursery including Keebra Park and that he has only made the semi's at Wests 2 times in his 8 years here supports the notion that he is poor at developing talent.

Bug - maybe it is because he trusts young talent too much.

Seems this thread has gotten off topic…

Maybe a thread should be opened and called, "Bug's daily rants about the Fonz"

That would be a good one.

Maybe a sticky - "Bugs musings on the Fonz". I reckon it'd pass the Lote thread in number of posts.
