Wests Tigers need quick $1m to survive

Well they need to get it sorted out quickly.
The NRL have no interest in running an NRL team, they run the comp. This having them appoint directors is all crap as it would only lead to conflicts of interest. They would love nothing more than two Sydney clubs to impode (so they dont have to be the bad guys and kill off clubs) and then expand the game. Us and the Sharks are making it too easy for them.

And before someone tells me that we are two valuable to the NRL….... we're getting crowds of 7k.

Yep, bias is alive and well in every aspect in this thread.

'The Tiger is the most marketable emblem in the NRL'

Says who?

Reduce the board to 7.

1 Balmain, 3 West Ashfield, 3 NRL appointees.

Because realistically the NRL puts in the majority of our income

Makes sense!

Before we race in and hand over the club board control to the NRL (or more correctly whatever the ARL is now called), it would be a good idea to have a look at their record in business management.

IT IS NOT GOOD, since the new set up started, I believe the number of employees has gone from about 80 to over 140 IN LESS THAN 12 MONTHS! They have had to add a new storey to the headquarters building at a big cost!

Look at the botching of the shoulder charge problem, the poor standard of refereeing and getting worse, the big rise in Grand Final ticket prices, the poor handling of the ASADA issue, the drop in attendances this year and how many other things. I WOULD NOT want them to be dabbling in my business.

Oh hi Buzz Rothfield.

Care to mention the 2million extra people they just added to the Rugby League brand in this country?

Or maybe the billion dollar rights contract?

I don't understand this… they are not dabbling in our business, we are dabbling in their business! ARLC / NRL is the business and we are a tiny fraction of the revenues.

'The Tiger is the most marketable emblem in the NRL'

Says who?

Says Roy Morgan Research, says NRL Official Merchandise sales, says Crowd figures (both home and away), says Website Traffic figures, all taken over a lengthy period of time.

We are amongst the top clubs in the NRL for all of those areas, and in some cases the No1 Club.

Since we have been basket cases on the field for most of our short history, have shambolic administration, and lack the financial clout of many other clubs, the only answer for these results can be the club's branding.

No actually it is Roy Morgan, the NRL, and the Wests Tigers that have publicly released that information, and do so annually.

Its all freely available on the internet for anybody bothered to look it up, just like I did before I made those comments.

Says crowd figures aye Abe? is that we could barely draw over 10K at LO and C-town this yr? several games only drew 7K. Oh yeah the emblem is responsible for that

No, its just you Abe…as it stands

Youve 'done the work' but wont provide the links.

Why?

Because I only get a 1 hr lunch break. And I'll be stuffed if I'm gonna sit in the dunny and try post links on a smart phone!

No smart arse, I said those figures were taken over a long time span. One bad year doesn't eliminate the previous 5.

Haha oh Abe, provide the evidence big man

Refer to my response to ink, little guy.

More than happy to dig up some website links when I have the opportunity, and if you ask me nicely.

I am with Abe on this one! The games we had allocated to LO and CS this year were either crap games, or were scheduled on Friday or Monday nights. The club complained about this before the season even kicked off in 2013.

Add to this our ongoing poor form over the season and Benji Marshalls inability to compete and I think it is probably pretty fair to rule out our crowd numbers for this season.
