Wests Tigers new coach for 2014 and beyond

Grant jones and Peter Gentle have been coming along through the ranks could see what the saints do with steve price and if successful probably do the same with either one.

other option would be maguire former storm assistant now wigan head coach wants to return to australia if he doesnt get a gig before sheensy is gone ill take him in a heartbeat

It's so far down the track it's not even funny but if I had to pick someone I would be happiest with Peter Gentle taking the reins and hopefully Tim is involved in the club at some capacity.

Like any business,& thats what NRL coaching gig is,we should be grooming an internal successor like Gentle & pushing his limits whilst concurently keeping an eye on how the external market evolves over the nxt couple of years
I know its a broken record, but surely Sheens "job for life" ex- 2005 (yawn)will have expired by 2014, & some of the forum folk & more importantly the players will be receptive to some fresh perspectives introduced by a new coach..?
Then again,maybe not….

I'm all for grooming a successor as I'm a proponent of the "bus theory," but I believe Sheens is still achieving results. we played extremely well against a near full strength team last week with 9 first graders down. It shows that Sheens is choosing the right people to step up and fill the breach when the worst has come about.

When Sheens leaves maybe Gentle or Folkes will take over the Head Coach position.

You say Lockyer, yet he has never coached before.

I think he's coaching pretty well this year

He was basically coaching Brisbane for the second half of last year I believe.

As cunno mentioned, I wouldn't doubt it if it was within Sheens' intentions to continue beyond 2013\. Even during our dry periods with him as coach, namely '06,'07,'08 and '09 he showed no sign that he'd had enough and wanted to quit. Now that we made the finals last year and are looking the goods thus far this year, I think he has no plan of going anywhere.

In all fairness the big three werent very big when they started at the storm. Slater was a complete unknown.

However, i am concerned with Bellamy's inability to get NSW to perform. I wonder if he could transform his formula at the storm to another club. I am not sure he could.

not true at all the talents particuarly of Inglis, Falaou , hoffman, slater and cronk (i dont know about smith) were very well known as juniors, most clubs were after all of them, they simply paid them more.

If you continually get the cream of the crop of the 17 and 18 year olds by paying more for them, than you will always ahve a good side.

Peter O'sullivan was hailed the god of talent identification, he has not done that great with the roosters since the swap, the key is it is easy to win the best talent if you pay them more!

The same reason alot of AFL clubs are up in arms with the concessions allowed to GWS & Gold Coast, the top 10 kids, plus early draft picks for the next couple years as well, will according to experts mean that we will prb have 3 or 4 year period where the new boys excel. In melbourne they got the equivalent fro about 5 or 6 years instead of 1

Gus Gould said after his contract with 9 finishes"He would seriously look at coaching again".
That is at the end of next season,so I would look at him.

ideally id like sheens to finish his coaching career at the tigers, or if not, in england. id certainly hate to c him coaching another nrl club.

im just going to throw it out there but wat about nathan brown? as a young coach he did well at the dragons (obviously without winning a comp, but still) and bennett has said that brown left the dragons in good shape for him. so by the time sheens decides to retire from coaching brown should be nice and experienced and would be a good match for our club IMO
