WESTS Tigers coach Tim Sheens has outlined his plan to shift Tim Moltzen to halfback to partner Benji Marshall and intends to assess a number of different fullbacks during the NRL trials.
>
Moltzen's signature was one of the hottest topics of the NRL off-season, with the talented utility doing a backflip on a deal to move to St George Illawarra this season.
>
With Robert Lui and the Wests Tigers parting ways at the end of last season, Sheens will start the season with Moltzen at halfback.
>
"He was a halfback when he first arrived here and I'm confident his combination with Benji can continue to develop," Sheens said.
>
"I've spoken to Tim about it and he's happy to take on a different set of responsibilities and from all indications we're happy with how it's going."
>
With Moltzen shifting from the fullback role, new recruits Tom Humble and Joel Reddy will be competing with Mitch Brown to fill the important custodian position.
>
Tigers marquee signing Adam Blair arrived at training a fortnight ago and has immediately began making an impression in the team with his hard work ethic.
>
The Tigers also have a new assistant coach in Steve Georgallis and a new head conditioner in club legend John Skandalis, with Steve Folkes moving to work as Steve Price's assistant at St George Illawarra.
>
A number of players remain in the club's rehabilitation group, including captain Robbie Farah, winger Lote Tuqiri and Australian-born England lock Chris Heighington.
>
Farah underwent off-season surgery on his injured groin while Tuqiri had multiple surgery for wrist and arm injuries.
>
The Wests Tigers first serious trial will be against Parramatta on February 11.

I am slightly surprised to hear this, of course it could just be DT s*** again.

Hard to think that its BS when there are quotes from Sheens indicating thats the way he's leaning. I hope it is though coz i'd personally prefer to see him at 1 with Miller at 7

Im surprised Sheens would be thinking this way. If this is the case I would then pick Mitch Brown as my fullback. I know we have other options in Humble, Reddy, Tedesco and possibly Grant.

But for me Humble would have played more first grade at Parra when Hayne was shifted to five eight if he was any good in that position. Im aware he was serving a suspension at some stage.

Reddy looks to big to play fullback. Unsure of what his speed would be like and has not played enough fullback (in 1st grade) for me to consider him as our starting fullback.

Tedesco looks the goods and could be the long term future fullback. But Sheens seems to take the easy option and leaves the young guys playing in the 20's. From reading this article it seems he will do this with Tedesco and Miller.

Grant is an unknown at this stage. Will be interesting what position he plays in the trials and how he performs.

So in summing up I would back Mitch Brown to be our fullback and make sure Matt Utai is nowhere near 1st grade this season!

I've been saying it for a while around here, now we can get on and get the fullback spot sorted and we are ready for 2012 - exciting times!!

Now Moltz is officially a Tiger, i will give him my full support wherever he plays. We have good depth, albeit fairly inexperienced, at 1 and 7 this year. Should keep them all on their toes.

Im a bit disappointed for miller….was hoping he would step up

No dramas though with Moltzen at 7....I hope sheens allows him to ballplay though, I doubt it but with Marshall and Farah there too

Heres your big shot Mitch!!!
I dont really see Reddy as a 1

Well there goes hopes of a structured kicking game.

Hope he goes well though

We are something like 9-2 with molts at half so he obviously has something there to offer us, chisolm will have to wait for the time being to see how the season pans out, reddy played fullback in his younger days but never in grade personally I see him taking beaus wing spot with beau utai and grant fighting it out for the utility spot

Well its probably been one of the hottest topics of the off-season, everyones had an opinion, everyones expressed their ideas and with several new players being recruited, there is lots of different options.

You wouldn't know whether Sheens is foxing either.
Personally I would of liked to of seen Miller get a crack at the 7\. But this doesn't surprise me at all.

Now for a THOWSAND pages on who should be fullback and why, lets get cracking!
I think Reddy will be given a crack at some stage as Sheens said a while back he was looking to find somewhere to put Reddy.
I hope Brown finally gets his well deserved opportunity to wear the one. He won't let anyone down, thats for certain.
