Wests Tigers plan to play Tim Moltzen at halfback

Im a bit disappointed for miller….was hoping he would step up

No dramas though with Moltzen at 7....I hope sheens allows him to ballplay though, I doubt it but with Marshall and Farah there too

Heres your big shot Mitch!!!
I dont really see Reddy as a 1

I was thinking along the same lines. I like the look of Miller, nice kicking game and good passing game, I feel he could complment Benji nicely if given the same chance as Lui.

My only real concern with Moltzen is Sheens switching him around every week. Whatever position he's going to play, he needs to stay there permanently. I'd be happy with either Brown or Reddy at fullback.

i too wanted miller at halfback but moltzen will be decent there.spending another year in the 20s/nsw cup wont be a bad thing for miller imo and if he performs im sure moltzen will feel the pressure.

the fullback seems really open. i know sheens really wanted top sign humble to be our fulback back in 2009 and he was a very, very highly rated junior fullback. personally i prefer brown as we know what he can do there and he has never let us down. the word when we signed reddy was that he was going to be given a crack at fullback.

the trials are going to be very interesting…

Whoever gets the fullback gig will be just keeping it warm for Teddessco for later in the year or next year

It's a long season …. Moltzen has the pressure from the get go while Miller is in the club lounge waiting his turn and his turn will come! you need a good kicking game and a good shoulder to be a top shelf 1/2.

Hold the panic button, the season is yet to start! I think Moltzen at 7 is a good option to start the season but Miller will most prob get the 7 mid season.

This is key! Moltzen will have a better season if he's left in once place.

We all know Sheens loves talking to the DT…. Theres no point in showing his cards yet...

I'm wondering if this means Miller will be starting at 7 or Miller will be on the bench???

I was thinking the same Watto. Maybe Sheensy just doesn't want the papers and media following Miller around with all the "who's the new tigers halfback" stories. If all those statements are true that's fine and well done Moltzen and I really hope Browny gets his shot finally. It isnt a bad option to have Miller learn his trade in the 20's. I just hope he doesn't leave at the end of the year because he feels he's not going to get a shot

I don't understand why everybody has gone cold on Miller. Last year when Lui was struggling, half the forum were calling for Miller to take over. Now with the position wide open, people seem to have lost confidence in the kid

If miller was to be a chance for first grade u would expect him to dominate 20s, which he did not!

Also, do u guys think sheens wanted to move moltzen around last season, it was out of necessity with all th injuries, if we realize the importance of him being in one spot obviously sheens does…

He will get first crack at half which is the best option we have by a country mile, we can cover fullback more adequately than half

Fair question really. He did finish the NYC playing a lot worse than he started, that said he still got the half back of the year gong. There has been murmurs about him being a bit big for his boots at times, maybe this is the reason.

I would have been happy for Miller to get the gig, I rate Moltzen and am confident he will do well, but feel Miller would do well also.

I'd be happy with molzten @ half, brown fullback & reddy on the bench. Let the new signings/youngins earn a chance before putting them in FG.
In saying that, it's great to have a lot of options & hopefully the competition will give us a killer instinct week in, week out!!
6 weeks to go now folks, bring it on!!!

We are something like 9-2 with molts at half so he obviously has something there to offer us, chisolm will have to wait for the time being to see how the season pans out, reddy played fullback in his younger days but never in grade **personally I see him taking beaus wing spot with beau utai and grant fighting it out for the utility spot**

I wouldn't swap Beau for any of them, at this stage. He needs to be in the team somewhere - his influence in games is massively underrated.

On the halfback spot, I would've liked to see Chisholm get a start, but I suppose Sheens thinks it's best to go with a more proven combo for now, which is fair enough.

Well I've been saying all summer since Moltzen stayed he would be halfback -that was why they didn't dump Luis till it was settled and reddy was bought as a fullback and is the best option for mine he was a rep player in2009 and was out last year with injury and would of played a lot of fullback at parra if it wasn't for hayne coming into his own when reddy was coming into fg . I think ull find brown and humble fighting itboutbfor the bench back in round 1

Sheensy always keeps kids in NYC if he has other options that are close to the mark. Miller might be more talented, but wasn't going to massively outshine Moltzen's experience, so why not keep the kid in NYC. It's a top grade comp and it's hardly like he missed out. He will get his time and will probably be 1st string backup (along with Chisholm). It will be completely different when Miller is ineligible for NYC next year, he will certainly be the 7 then.

Tedessco won't be in the 1 either for the same reason. I think it's between Humble and Chisholm. I'm surprised Dane's name hasn't been mentioned more at 1\. He seems to have the right skill set for it.

Reddy will make the perfect super-sub at 14, but might sneak in at 1.

Utai is in witha shot as Lote is having serious dramas with his wrist.

If thats the case, could Reddy be an option to start on the wing and brown at fullback.

Damn I hope Lote gets his wrist sorted, even if he misses a month first up rather then trying to play through it.
