Wests Tigers Podcast - Hosted by Helmsey&Eddie.

First half of the podcast very good, second part not so much.

We need stability and that means sticking with the coach.

It’s funny how the senior players, brought in before Madge, are the ones that have an issue but the newcomers don’t. That tells you heaps, especially when it’s those senior players that are the under performers and under achievers and have been for many years.

How would those newcomers react it Madge was to be replaced now? Do you think that they would clash with a new Coach? I do, and so the cycle would repeat and no advancement would be made, and Wests Tigers would be back to the beginning once again.

Those juniors are our future and they need someone like Madge to show them what is needed to be successful. They don’t need another another rookie coach who doesn’t know and they don’t need a coach who can only win through chemical enhancements.

By all means surround Madge with good tacticians as assistant coaches but for the sake of the clubs future Madge must stay.

I knew you wouldn't like part 2 lol, I agreed with you for most of the season mate. I don't see why the young players would clash with a new coach? The biggest issue I have is Madge's inability to adapt and a total lack of defensive structures, our defense is getting worse not better.

I like Madge and really believe he wants what is best for our club, I just don't believe he is it.

It happens on every turn over and it wouldn’t be any different now. It’s one of the reasons most successful clubs are successful and it’s because of stability with a long term coach. If Madge has deficiencies then fix it with smart assistance coaches. Madge needs to stay.

Good pod as always. Gotta say I’m disappointed you guys all turned on Madge. Podcast #154 will be you guys complaining why the new coach can’t get the same duds firing. Mark my words.

Well that depends on who the coach is. If it’s Paul Green then 100 percent I will complain. Madge can’t attract players from outside the club who
Are established in the NRL, it’s as simple as that. Your coach is the face of the organization and we need someone different who can sell the club and change the narrative around the Tigers. Someone like Ciraldo would be perfect because he has a great reputation around the league.

Problems predate Madge.

But have got worse under his guidance.

It's a good question though - are the problems worse under Madge's guidance, or was he given possession of a boat that was already off course?

For example, speculatively, would Ivan Cleary have gotten better results year-on-year, had he stayed? Would the signings of Packer, Mbye and Reynolds yielded better value if Ivan had stayed on as their coach? Would Ivan have had much salary cap space to spend 2019-2021?

I find it hard to tell if Madge is the cause (or not helping) of Tigers performing worse over time (by ladder position) or whether he's just not been able to stop the rot (yet, or may never).

It is opinion and will never be proven but I do feel Cleary would have done better with those players than Madge was able to achieve.

Well many of them were players he selected.

Love the Pod and really appreciate the time and effort to put it together.

Totally disagreed with the bulk of discussion around Madge this time around.

In particular The WTs are always in the game comment in the doco by Madge part. He is trying to get a new mentality established and trying to get the playing group to disconnect from the previous years of failure in games and as a club.

I dont think he accepts the past should be allowed to continue to dictate the future anymore.

The common link here in terms of failure is CEO and his team.

I would stick.with Madge and get a real negotiator to help with player recruitment and retention. Someone who wants to win.

I'm curious tp know where the players have publicly said they don't support Maguire

Of course I did, that’s my opinion on the position those in the podcast were taking. That doesn’t mean I think the podcast is bad. But I don’t agree with the stance on Madge. All I can say is I’m glad none of them, apart from Steve, is running the club.

Just because it doesn't agree with your view doesn't make it a bad pod Mike. I don't agree with everything on this pod or any other pod but it's still interesting to hear different points of view.

Didn’t say it was a bad pod.

No but you said the "first part very good, but the second part not so much" simply because it didn't share your opinions. You took a similar position the week before.

Of course I did, that’s my opinion on the position those in the podcast were taking. That doesn’t mean I think the podcast is bad. But I don’t agree with the stance on Madge. All I can say is I’m glad none of them, apart from Steve, is running the club.

So anyone who doesn't want Madge as head coach next year has no idea?

Never said that either.
