Why does everyone seem to have an issue about the size of their halfbacks ??

It's not so much his size Happy, but rather his ability to lead a side around the park at halfback. Young Sirro looks the goods at 5/8\. He doesn't have the organisational skills of Miller IMO. Not saying he couldn't make a good half, **but you'd be a brave person to experiment by throwing him in the 7 jersey at 18** years of age in FG. If Benji were to go down injured then I'd be all for giving him a shot at 6 if Lawrence was not going to be moved.

Moltzen was only 19 when he debuted as Benji's replacement in 2008 and then went on to play halfback. And at the height of 6' 2" he's not exactly small

From what I've seen of Young Sirro, I think it is more likely he will get wider than closer (whether it be centre or backrower), think he is talented with a future, I think 2012 should be spent in NYC.

Miller to me looks a more natural half back and is closer to being NRL ready. Biggest concern with Miller is I'm not sure he is physically ready, which is why he misses a few too many tackles at this stage, that can be easily fixed.

This is a very sad, unfortunate day!!

Look at our whole side though, portraying Lui as the missing piece pushing us to finals is a bit much. Lui was part of a larger group of talent.

2009 and previous years have nothing on what we have had in 2010/11.

The only real difference between 2009 and 2011 is Robert Lui, Lote Tuqiri, Blake Ayshford, Aaron Woods & Simon Dwyer….

Yeah ONLY all of them.
not too mention a fully fit marshall, huge maturing of Gibbs and Galloway, the return of Liam Fulton an extra 50 odd games in all the young blokes.

yeah that doesn't make a lot of sense, why persevere with the guy if he wanted out?
 
Well it may be that they were persevering with Moltz or Miller, fully aware that Lui would leave them at some stage. Lui got the position because he's the better half-back, but make no mistakes about Moltzen's ability, given time.

So why is moving home so important for him? The subtext here is that being home will keep him on the straight and narrow and out of handcuffs.

I am all for sending him home, he obviously has major issues and family can help. But the clubs seem to be having bet each way backing him with the "hes pleading not guilty, we believe he will be ok" and "holy shit get this guy some supervision before he really does some damage!".
 
I want to congratulate the club on the way they've handled the Lui situation. First time, they gave him a chance to learn the error of his ways. Second time, out the door. Forget the talent on the field, I'm proud to support a club that doesn't want a persistent wife-beater in its ranks - actually I believe in redemption and rehabilitation but this guy hasn't shown any sign of either and I'd be embarrassed if I was a Cowboys fan. I've no idea why living closer to your family stops you hitting your partner but whatever, if it helps them sleep at night to think they're 'helping' as well as being opportunistic then go for it.

Incidentally, anyone who wanted to keep Lui and sack Moltzen off to the Dragons based on the respective players' behaviour ought to take a long hard look at their own moral priorities.

The subtext is the Tigers can't sack him if he hasn't been convicted, and the Cowboys have to pretend they're doing community work rather than just signing a good player on the cheap because his current club doesn't want to employ a wife beater. So everyone pretends moving to North Queensland is suddenly a great rehabilitator and we all move on.
 
I think with Lui moving up to Nth QLD, it won't take long and he'll be in more trouble than Ned Kelly. sadly, I think he'll end up going from club to club and eventually be a talent wasted.
 
Gutted his development and our investment in it has essentially become fruitless, but I am glad the club has released him. Hopefully he sorts himself out since he's a little closer to home, and would really hope for his young family's sake, he gets his life on track.

My concern if you have defensive issues at NYC you are sure as hell going to struggle at top level Miller didn't seem to improve greatly defensively throughout the season Whereas Sironen wasn't great either he is younger and has a pretty good attitude to defence which will improve after a offseason with the top side in my opinion

Not sure about any injuries to young Sirro, but he was a 'turnstyle' in defence in the later part of the year in the few games I saw… Miller and Sirro both need a year up here in the Qld Cup to toughen em up. NYC and NSW Cup is a way behind NRL Level and they would go ok playing for the East Tigers behind thier new pack!!!
