Wests Tigers Round 1 Team - Official Line Up

Good looking side. Really like the bench. Looking forward to seeing how the new players go in the team.

I'm glad Seumanafagai was able to grab a bench spot along with Sue. It's good to see they've been rewarded for their efforts last season.
Only thing to raise an eyebrow is Thompson in ahead of BMM. Seems strange. We'll just have to trust Potter's judgement.

When fully fit where do simona and nofo fit in?

nofo in centre and simona on the wing?

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Simona
4\. Lawrence
5\. Richards

Koro needs to spend some time in NSW Cup and work on his defensive reads. He's great in attack but it's not the NFL where you can take them off in defence. We can't afford to have a winger constantly jamming in and leaving the line exposed. Nofo and Richards both read well in defence so IMO are better suited. Richards or Nofo could also play centre if needed but that would be my back 5.

Well when Nofo comes back in Rd 2 then We can put him in but atm their is no one else…

Yeah, that's what I said. Drop Koro for Nofo (obviously when available)

The starting back row does not excite me at all , none of them can bend the line or intimidate the opposition , Boedene had one good game last year against the storm and his starting , as for Blair he better start earning the money were paying him.

Given injuries I think this is about the best side available ATM. Thought Austin was a chance for a bench spot, but it's only round 1.

I think it shows the depth in the squad given you'd probably pick Galloway, sironen, nofoaluma, simona when fit.

They should beat the red Vs this week. Can't wait! :sign:

Robbie Farah fails to train Today due to illness but is expected to play in #NRLSGIWST on Sunday

Going into the game with 6 props, that's good to see & very different to what we're used to!

Hope we have a blinder.

Happy with the team, great to see Taupau starting!

I also love having a coach that isn't afraid to put 4 forwards on the bench

I'm hoping Lulia & Marika have good starts to the year and put pressure on those backs wanting to come back into the side.

I agree. Hoping Sue & Big Ava can do the same in the forwards. Really looking forward to seeing how they developed over the off-season.

That's a cracker team! Looks like Potter is now calling the shots.

he was always calling the shots. just couldn't do anything with that 2nd tier cap last year.

Really pleased for Bodene. Injury and suspension cruelled him last year. However he has obviously had an outstanding off season and some reasonable trial form and gets a start ahead of some pretty handy players on the bench.

I really love the size of this squad. All players on the bench are able to make impact which I really feel we have lacked.
I personally think Patterson would have been better to start at 11 and have Bodene on bench. If there is an injury to any backs, Bodene can slot in at centre and move corresponding player to wing/fullback if needed.
I never rated Bodene too highly but I never thought he was crap either. Hopefully we can see the same mongrel and aggression we saw in that Storm game and if he keeps it up then there is no reason he shouldn't be in the starting 17.

Rd2 will be interesting as Galloway, Simona and Nufo are all coming back. I suspect that Nufo and Galloway will push out Koro and Ava but if they really show some terrific form in RD1 then you never know. I'm thinking that Simona will play a game or two in NSW cup just to get himself back into the swing of things…he did have a shoulder reconstruction after all.

Love that bench
& if you look at the size of the State Cup bench there may be a pattern forming…

I have no idea why Bodene is in the Squad let alone in the top 13 :crazy Same goes for Blair at 13 I think he is best on the bench as a rotating prop he did OK last year doing it.

He was very good against the Sharks and surprised me with the quality of his work, hit hard in defence and ran the ball hard. He could very well be in for a good season if his attitude is anything to go by so far.

Looks like we have a few troops back on deck for round 2 but I'm really liking the bench with the size and impact we have.

I didn't notice BMM or Buchanan listed in NSW Cup so I assume they're on standby…

bodene will surprise many.

if you doubt him, go watch round 24 vs the dragons and lookout for bodene in defence. I honestly believe we may have come close to losing that game if not for him and braith.

Not really feeling Thompson and Fulton being in the starting line up together. They are very similar players who get their work done but aren't anything overly special. Would have preferred Paterson to start.

Disappointed with BMM as well like many, I think his attitude isn't quite right. It's a real shame because he can be such a great weapon for us but he just hasn't been in the right head space over the last few years. This may be the last year he has to impress, otherwise I'm worried we might lose him.
