Wests Tigers Sack Jason Taylor - OFFICIAL..

I think most of us suspected the Taylor signing would end in disaster. His handling of Farah's departure, inability to improve our defence and a lack of results all pointed to only one outcome. No doubt the resigning of the big two (Woods and Teddy) was at the heart of the early decision. Anyway, the new season could hardly have started off any worse. Let's see what this new bloke Webster can do in the interim ….. who knows he may be the next Wayne Bennet or Craig Bellamy .... they all have to start somewhere.

Certainly surprised by the speed of the dismissal, though the capitulation prior to halftime in successive weeks obviously accelerated the process.

Like many, would prefer someone other than Payten as the replacement.

The conspiracy theories are running hot.
The same problems exist that existed three years ago and we have recruited zip. Instead of having a crack at the few fg players we have at the club your anger should be directed at those incapable of managing a cap and providing the fans with a team that is competitive.
We will never be competitive with the 4 good players alone and that is the sole responsiblity of the crap management that we have endured year in and year out.Teddy Moses Brooks and Woods could all play elsewhere and if they were smart based on our history and lack of success, and they way fans love to blame individuals instead of the system they should get out now- just like Ben Teo did years ago. But for some innane reason they have sense of wanting to play for the club. God knows why.

Fox sports and blocker are saying the same.
They all agree the club is hell bent to appease the so called 4.
Ivan Cleary hasn't even been contacted and it's firming up that Peyton is preferred by the players.

Conspiracy theory it's not.

Accusing players of dudding a game is a deadset conspiracy theory! Who exactly are you saying was in on that?

Like believe Blocker the story teller ..I must say the proven guilty before any evidence is defiantly the Aussie way these days ..has anyone got any concrete evidence that the 4 have demanded Talyors sacking to resign?
What if you are at a cross road in your career where large amounts of $$ and real success is on the table you would not have a lot of Questions of your organisation about who would be the boss in the future ,,so now this is moving in another direction lead by the media Taylor is gone now lets go after the 4 players that have not signed ..please take a step back everybody you are being lead around by the media ..lets see what transpires but then again lets just point the finger with no evidence!

That the way things go here. Evidence means nothing when the experts get a sniff of a hanging. Players have a right to know who is going to be the no 1 influence over their careers before theyy commit to playing at any club.
You can bet that any player that we approach will want to know the same thing,
It's their career that will be affected . Not ours

Got a laugh out of this and look who liked the post

Reflects poorly on Sirro and RF as childish tools just as much as it ridicules JT I'd say. Grown men should probably stay away from Twitter, leave it for teenybopper chicks IMO.
Sirro has to ask himself honestly whether or not he would have liked to have played alongside someone who possessed the same qualities as Sirro Jnr- lazy, halfarsed bludger who shirked the hard stuff and left that dirty work for his teammates to do. He would find the answer pretty quick if he was brutally honest with himself.
Geez some blokes who were hard men on the footy field can sure quickly turn into [automatically edited] schoolgirls off it. It's embarrassing really.

What did Robbie Now????????
( except laughing his head off)

that instant when you realise Showpony Woods, Brooks and Moses will be eating up most of our cap for the next few years.

I am only up to page 12 so hope not repeating someone. I don't think those 3 players should be eating up much of our cap. Drop Brooks no matter what it costs to do so in terms of losing the other players. Pay Woods and Moses only average pay until they both improve. Woods by getting back on side quicker and being more responsible and Moses by actually attacking the line like he used to last year.

It is better to have rookies losing badly than well paid players because if rookies then eventually we will have saved up the cash to buy better players. At least rookies may appreciate being in the team.

They either will be here on big money or somewhere else on big money. I don't care if they stay or not even though I don't think that the tiny 2 are worth it.
No matter where they go, I'd still be interested to see how they go with a real first grade coach as they've so far never had one of those, just Potter and Taylor, certainly not quality which ever way you look at it.
Probably neither will get another coaching gig and fromWhat I've seen don't deserve one.
Maybe there is value in these two , but I haven't seen much yet

At the end of the day he was given free reign, more than what Potter ever was. Farah didn't fit in with his plans, so the board backed him. His coaches weren't delivering, so the board backed him in their sacking. He was given every opportunity to succeed, and as such would have to live and die by the results.

He didn't deliver, the club was embarrassed two weeks straight and so the board took early measures. Nothing had changed. The club must employ someone of ability now though. If we end up with a Payten, Parish or Walters we may as well fold up now because it will be two/three more years of the same old hat.

I think some players should be buying lottery tickets today… Wouldn't feed half our mob, overpaid underperformers. They're lucky there's several dozen to a squad and only one coach.
Not dismissing Taylor's failings.... He couldn't get our f/a in the black at all.... Managed to do this however with other players at other clubs in his past more often than not

Exactly Ink. Some of our boys might be secretly cheering that JT is gone, God forbid we jag someone like Hasler or Toovey though. They might be in for a rude shock.

I think the club acting as it has is a positive move when is there really a good time .. something has triggered this not just results alone.
Maybe the next coach they were looking at had clubs circling and Taylor was going to be moved on anyway.Maybe this is another piece of a master plan .

The Wests Tigers today sacked coach Jason Taylor just three games into the NRL season. Problem is, he didn’t deserve to be punted just yet.

Taylor took the reigns at Concord in the lead up to the 2015 NRL season, holding the clipboard for a total of 51 games with the club. He’s picked up 20 wins with the club while dropping 31 matches, but Taylor’s Tiger career won’t be defined by how many games he won.

The coach made the tough call late last season to drop former captain Robbie Farah to NSW Cup, eventually releasing the international rake to South Sydney, a feud lasting longer than twelve months in Campbelltown. Taylor didn’t like the control Farah had at the club and made the call not many coaches would have the guts to do.

Wests Tigers opened the season with a bang this year, thumping South Sydney in the opening round 34-18, putting Jason Taylor both 1-0 on the ladder, and 1-0 against Robbie Farah. But back-to-back losses to Penrith and Canberra will finally see the guillotine drop on Taylor, but how is that fair?

South Sydney, coming off a shocking 2016, lost skipper Greg Inglis to an ACL rupture during the match, were no hope against the Tigers. But they didn’t carry the expectations or roster that both Canberra and Penrith possess.

Both clubs made the finals last season, with many expecting the clubs to finish in the top four this year. They are some of the most elite sides in the competition. Yes, the losses were heavy. But it’s only the third round. The competition is already shaping up to be the closest in over forty years, surely the man deserves more time.

The club confirmed his immediate termination on Monday afternoon, with chairman Marina Go stating the decision wasn’t an easy choice, but the right one.

“Our position has always been to make sure that the Head Coach’s contract is tied to performance and that hasn’t changed. We are committed to building a side that will be in a position to win NRL Premierships and believe that this decision is the correct one for the future of the club,” she said.

Since taking over the club two years ago, Taylor has overseen the meteoric rise of both James Tedesco and Mitchell Moses, implemented Aaron Woods as the club’s new captain, saw the team fall one win short of a finals berth, and sacked a legend of the team in the means of improving it.

The Wests Tigers were a mess when Taylor stepped in. Sure, they’re still not the strongest club around, but Taylor has cleaned out so much mess from Leichardt, he deserves better than to be booted after a handful of weeks.

Robbie Farah is one man sure to have a sly smile on his face today, however. While the coach won the battle of the first round, Farah appears to have won the war, with his rival being sacked just days after the hooker played his 250th NRL match.

Assistant coach Andrew Webster has been named the interim coach, with Ivan Cleary and Todd Payton the first names put forward to take the reigns at the club. The urgency to name a new coach will be crucial, with the entirety of Wests’ big four off-contract this season.

Jason Taylor was never the most successful coach, but he was one of the gutsiest. He just didn’t deserve to be booted, at least not just yet.

We all have an opinion of JT…I admired his honesty and commend that he had the guts to make tough calls like he did with Farah....we forget that the Broses wanted Farah to play a less dominant role too....Great article..

Well he made his own bed. Getting rid of Farah was hugely damaging and he needed to get immediate results in 2017 to show the club that it was worth it. When they serve up the same crap as last year over the past two weeks it's obvious that nothing has changed. It's the coaches responsibility to prepare them and for whatever reason he failed and had to go.

The team only has a few goers that are of decent standard and Farah was one of them so how smart was that. Last weeks game was so predictable and boring due to 99% of play the balls were just the dummy half immediately passing the ball - so predictable for the Raiders to anticipate as well.

Yeah pass it to the youngsters and watch them make fools of themselves more times than not or just being ineffective and not bending the line.

What mess did Taylor clean out at the Club? Got rid of ex top players who had positons there but did their replacements do any better when you consider the results of all three grades?

We are still paying a fortune for Farah to play excellently at Souths - his game comes off a lot more often than what the Tigers games come off this season.

I think the Tigers Management have panicked. I was Incensed at the last two weeks results like most here, however JT was Gutsy and deserved to season out.

We were never really in contention for the title this year.

All that is happening now is that we are paying out yet another former staff member to have a paid holiday.

Everything is great in hindsight.
Forget JT, the club has nobody left to blame for the rest of the season.
JT won't have the wooden spoon against his record with just 3 rounds coached out of 26 rounds.
The board is next to come crashing down. They exposed themselves by this debacle.

I was reading that Marina Go was at a function and introduced herself to Laurie Daley and asked who he was.
Haha haha. She is so out of depth.

 yet we still managed to best Souths with him there. He's not the silver bullet.

Just take solace in the fact that JT is no longer here BBF. The incessant whinging about Farah being gone does not change anything.

that now common capitulation is very damaging. They pulled that stunt when I travelled a few hours to watch their game - that was 6 years ago and I have not gone back since, and that was when they were favourites!
