Crazy that Walters is even near the top side atm. He's been close to worst on ground in reggies every week he's been there.

And he is leaving

You don't want to ge throwing a kid to the wolves. Walters may not be the best 5/8 in the world but he's reasonably solid in defence and we need that against these sooks.

Glad to see Mbye named.

I bet you would not have made this comment 5 weeks ago..
I hope he plays as he has been great with brooks in the halves and for some reason it works...

He's never been on my pinata list. Yes, he had some bad games but no-one can produce every week.
This year frustration was more with our outside backs and lack of desire. Thankfully that has at least in part turned around.

Disappointing to see Walters listed as cover for Mbye instead of Madden.

Haven't seen Walters play since he returned, but people who have say he's been surprisingly good in reserves. Like someone else said, Madden is a halfback, so he is there to replace Brooks if needed. Walters is cover for 6.

Surprisingly good?
He's been the worst player on the field every week.

Aside from some heavy sarcasm, there is no way anyone would have made this comment 5 weeks ago. How times have changed.

Was a big critic of Mybe named in the halves and the constant obsession from Madge for including him on the bench despite the lack of forward punch.

But credit where credit is due...if Brooks keeps playing like this and our attack continues improving like it has, I am more than happy to continue pouring this egg on my face :+1:

I still don't see anything in him at all. We have changed our attack plans and set plays, any decent half would easily do just as well as mbye. I give him zero credit.

Yes tend to agree with you here. If anything Brooks’ game has improved out of sight. One thing I’ll give in Mbyes favour is he is calmness. But the eels will be another level to what we’ve played in the last month. Can our halves go to that level?? I’m hoping that they do and as others have said on here, win this one and September footy could be on the cards.

Ticket prices are a massive rip off

Thats why NRL is so far behind the EPL and other o/seas comps

Their short sightedness of making money for this year and next.
Covid hit and the NRL suddenly went into financial loss. A game over 100 years old.

Ticket prices should be more affordable for all regardless of the ground. Fill the stands.

Instead they leave it like fuel prices and rip people off

Dont get me started on Service Fees and Fees for Digital Tickets

End of rant!

BTW, Team list looks good

The Ute & Blore will smash em when they come on! We win by 20!

It’s admirable how positive you are with our side. Unfortunately I think I’m damaged goods after the last decade!

And PS love the “Ute” nickname. Haven’t heard that before but it’s fitting for the big unit

Well you could argue that our change of attack has been allowed to happen due to Mybe's style of 5/8th play, it it means Brooks and the the players around Mybe are playing better than I am happy to give him credit even if he isn't coming up with the big plays.

Not to specifically defend the NRL but I think you'll find many overseas clubs and competitions faced immediate problems when COVID hit, and the NRL was not unique.

For example Barcelona just took out a €500M loan (May 2021) in order to fulfill their wage obligations to players, and now have a total debt of €1.17B.
https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/football-news/barcelona-get-whopping-500-million-loan-to-settle-outstanding-wages-and-squad-rebuild.html

This is despite Barcelona earning €715.1M revenues in the first COVID season 2019-2020 (highest revenues in Europe).
https://news.sky.com/story/the-rich-revenues-and-huge-debts-behind-the-super-league-dozen-12281465

Real Madrid 's total debit is ~€901M.
https://lastwordonsports.com/football/2021/04/22/real-madrid-barcelona-debts/

So you have to ask, how are these clubs in such staggering debt when they are some of the world's most profitable (revenue) and marketable clubs?

And the simple answer is: in the never-ending pursuit for glory and competition with other clubs, sporting clubs (and to a lesser extent their competitions) often spend at or beyond their means.

Tottenham Spurs home tickets, when reopened to public in May 2021, were AUD 110 per adult. I don't know if any major clubs globally are offering budget tickets in an attempt to re-fill stadia? In fact with the restrictions on seating, they probably have to jack the prices to sustain the game-day takings.

Lastly the service fees, I totally agree, but that's just Ticketek taking their admin % for running the platform upon which the tickets are sold. It's not the NRL taking those fees.

You could pay people 50 quid ...they still wouldn't come watch Spurs play

YES this. We have to get online, find and pay for the movies, find seats, order food, print off tickets and then they charge you a FEE for you doing all the work. Pee's me off no end. I avoid it if I can

I guess they figure with reduced capacity they can fill the place without even trying. Trouble when times return to normal they may have lost a big chunk of supporters who walked away from the game because they could not afford it

No surprises..

Mikaele is an out v Parra...

Walters over Madden covering Mbye not too fussed about..

Always takes time to come back from an ACL injury

Brooks just needs to take control and let walters play 2nd fiddle like mbye did

The 2nd Fiddle is the most important instrument in the Orchestra...

If they stuff up the notes the whole performance suffers...

Walters is a high energy player.
Going off his other FG observations.
Much like Grub Reynolds.

Mbye is a calm, steady mind, happy to play his role.

Hopefully as you said, Walters can calm it down and do a good Mbye personation.

We don't need Billy "Slater" Walters going for the super star play every time he can because he's aware he's on TV and trying to impress.
