Wests Tigers Side

Great to see Lui get a run i dont this guy will let us down,i think we can take it as done Tim will be our future fullback and npt a bad one either

I was so excited about Lui I didn't even realise the rest of the team.

Payten has been doing very well at prop… why move him to the second row?

Galea and Payne are arguable in career best form, and they get dropped to the bench?

Big fan of Sauce starting, he usually demolishes the Sharks.

Guess what? The forum has been calling for him to be called up into 1st Grade and when it is done the Coach is still derided.

Maybe refer to Z's post especially this part "I was all for giving Robert Lui a run, but only for experience when our season was mathematically over, not when we are still well in the hunt for a finals berth with an IN FORM HALFBACK steering the ship"

I think that's the main point you're missing.

We see it as a big call but obviously Sheens doesn't. He rates Moltzen as a good half prospect but a greater fullback prospect so that would be why he has moved him. Its deffinately a gamble as Moltzen/Marshall seems to have been the catalyst for these wins. Lui whilst being a stand-out in the NYC has areas to improve in his game so whether this is a one-off or a permanent move for the rest of the season, is the question. If its a one-off, its deffinately disrupting as the week after will be against the Eels. Will he move Hanbury or Lawrence to fullback than and allow Moltzen to move back in the halves, or will he continue with Lui? Obviously this weeks performance will go a fair way to answering this question.

On this talk about disrupting the NYC side; ask Lui where he wants to play. The NRL is always the target for every young player and I have no doubt Lui wants to play FG.

The other changes to the side I can't say I agree with. The forward pack was working well with Galea working hard in defence and Payne wasn't too bad either. Payten seemed to hit some form with some more responisbility on his hit-ups. This also allowed Heighington the chance not to play the full game and Galloway marched on when he came on.
This new side means a smaller bench and more onus on Skandalis to keep going forward. Payne will now play prop though hopefully Heighington still gets a break. Galloway seems slower so match fitness is a worry. Galea may as well play 60 minutes when he comes on for Payten after 20\. His best asset is to tackle and he should be doing it for as long as possible.

I am curious why so many people would seem to prefer picking a half-fit centre at full back over an exciting prospect from the 20's. Am I missing something? Coach Sheens would not have picked Lui if he didn't think he was ready and everyone who has watched him play would agree that he plays with a maturity beyond his 18 years. Bring it on!

Benji is doing a fine job isn't he…..I think you are both missing the point...If Lui starts you think he will be a first receiver for the majority of the match ....Even Sheens isn't that dumb......

There are some fools on this forum and I am just one of them.

However, whoever started and/or uses The Fonz, its not funny or ironic. I hope you eventually realise this and stop its use.

I am also amused by the amount of complaints about Lui. AFAIK, he's a nobody, so I don't rate him. (haven't seen him play)

Some of you will be unhappy, no matter what.

You should all be grateful that the Coach is making selections in the last few weeks by and large that the forum agrees on and has been calling on.

Those that keep calling for the Coach to quit, there was merit in that weeks ago but not at present. It is more likely the Coach, the Australian Coach will serve out his contract as indicated by the Board. I believe it is foolish to think otherwise. It is about as foolish as thinking a double dissolution election is going to be called before it is actually due.

Despite what the thick media thinks, there is absolutely no indication of that. It is the same with our Coach.

As for this Lui fella, himself, some are saying his defence is woeful. That may be so, but the opportunity in First Grade may also make him step up a notch or several and he just may blow you off the park with his attack and defence. The fact is we don't know yet. He has the opportunity and now he has to grasp it with both hands and move forward.

Why do people keep doing this?

A couple of like minded opinions and all of a sudden its ….'the forums been calling for...' or ' all you guys want blah blah..."

The forum calls for nothing, individuals, and there are many, call for a wide variety of things

What can I say ??

The Fonz is nuts. Just like when he jumped the shark on water ski's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpraJYnbVtE

But these sharks are different, and although I congratulate Robert Lui on a wonderful achievment, I cant help but have disdain for Fonzies passion and desire in 'turning' Moltzen into a fullback.

Fonzie has lost me forever, actually he did a long time ago. Moltzen at 7 and Benji at 6 is the future of this club for the next couple of years but the Fonz is dying to Jump that shark again. You could see that WT's success with Gallant at 1, Bagz at 6 and Moltz at 7 was killing him. Because we proved him wrong. Now he wants to ride on that success with this craziness.

I bet he was salivating when the opportunity to put Moltz at fullback arose. Yes he was.

Robert Lui would have got his chance eventually no doubt, he is too skillfull not to, but the Fonz's passion to have Moltz at fullback has seen Lui appear earlier that what we thought. Is that fair on him? Im not too sure, I wanna win, but god i'd luv to see the sharks take a nip out of Fonzie, because no one else will.

One of your best Bug….. :unamused: No the best...Sheens wanted Gallant to break his leg it's a wonder he didn't run out there and do it himself....As if any Coach would wish that on any player....Pleeeeassee....at least try and be rational....

You really need to chillax mate....We are winning be happy........ :stuck_out_tongue:

After MM broke his leg, Fonzie said words similar too, "I think Moltzen can be a good halfback, but I think he can be a great fullback."

The man is obsessed.

I really dont like this team. Why does Sheens feel the need to change a winning side? Galea has been one of the best players in the side, so why drop him to the bench?

4 weeks out from the finals is not the time to be throwing a debutant into the halves and experimenting! The team should be strengthening its combinations. Sheens has lost it!!!

Is the Fonz trying to get himself sacked so he can get the Brisbane Bronco's gig ??

Ok, Ok, sorry guys. Sorry Geo, ya right. Im going to bed.

I commend Tim Sheens.

The last few seasons he has played conservative and it has got us no where. Here he has taken a gamble on youth and i can cop that. I would be far happier failing with new blood then failing with the same old Morris at halfback.

To be honest I wouldof been happy with Hanbury at fullback and Moltz staying at 7, but Lui has obvious talent and I say its about time Sheens started making brave moves like this.

Lui could be that x-factor that takes us from a c grade team to one of the best,im happy hes finally getting a chance to show what he can do

btw the biggest thing about that team is Galea on the bench ,i always though of him as being lucky cause i dont think we have lost a game with him starting, wasnt he moved the same time Moltzen and Gallant was??

I think this is a great move, giving Lui experience in 1st grade. He is very creative, great passing game, big fan.

My only issue is the long-term prospect of this side. I mean, can you expect a rookie halfback, with what will be 4 games if he is picked there for the remainder of the season, to handle the pressure of finals footy? I have my concerns about Mortimer doing it, and his debut was in the first 10 rounds.

I cannot see us going towards a premiership or pushing teams like the Dragons or Storm with a halfback with no real experience. It only means that, if we were the change the side, someone would have the start playing fullback, and doing it very well, very quickly for us to be a chance to compete in September.

So after the ramble, good move, wrong time. No need to not experiment, just not this particular experiment.

Where was Mallaney in this game?

This is what I am saying. You are 100% correct. is this just a one week litmus test against a week side in Cronulla???

What the hell is it with all these blanket comments? "the whole forum as been calling for….. and when it happens you still give it to Sheens?" etc

Lets get some perspective please, people were calling for Lui MONTHS ago..... not with our finals hopes on the line and a few games to go... MONTHS ago.....

We've won 5 on the trot, our halves seem to be directing things well around the park, team going well... then we get an injury.... so instead of just slotting someone from the lower grades straight in, no, no instead it must be a better idea to reshuffle the halves :unamused: .... seems a little risky? more risky than just putting in someone else into the fullback spot?.... well the answer for many is a yes, that is more risky.

In a separate article on Lui, it says he has trained with the FG for the last 3-4 weeks and was earmarked to play FG this season as they expected an injury to occur. Whether this means someone fashioned up a voodoo doll of Gallant, I don't know, but the coaching staff have every confidence that Lui will hold his own on Sunday.

Hang on, I thought Super Coach woke up recently and realised playing players out of position didn't work?

Molzten is not a fullback.

He does not back up. He does not hit the line at speed.

He can distribute the ball and has a step - why move him from halfback when we have won our last 5 games there?

We will beat Cronulla because they are rubbish. But we won't go well against any reasonable team with Molzten at fullback.
