Wests Tigers sign Blake Austin and Cory Paterson

I really rate Austin,he is a cut above in the lower grades.

I wonder if peeps that say he is no good ahve watched him play…from what I ahve seen he is very good.

And Paterson is an intersting one.....we def need a big offloading backrower, and he certainly fits the bill...

I would be happy with these two blokes.

well this is the 1st time everyone seems to be stumped to who we have signed.
It will be hopefully be a great and pleasant surpise to all of us.
Come on 1pm.

I don't know what thread you are reading, the last couple of pages its been clearly established that its Patterson and Austin.

I know they were never going to be marquee signings but these to fill don't fill me with any excitement at all. Well maybe just a tad with Austin cos i know how much Gus and Cleary rated him. Funny, i was only wondering where he was the other night during the Panthers-Roosters game

Austin is an Oz Schoolboy,22 yo, plays3/4/6/7 and even backrow.

And kicks goals.

6'2 and 98 kegs.

if austin is so good why is gould letting him go, reason he is only average.

I like Austin. He has a tonne of potential. Hasnt delivered on that potential yet but a change of club often does wonders for under achieving players.

if its these two ,then why all the wait ,surely a press conference is not needed for yet another two nuffies in our ranks

Get with the times chooky….social media hits is where its at today bro

Two handy signings imo.....Im happy with this

I think people expect too much, need to be realistic....we arent attracting any marquee for a while

Yeah, it's two decent signings. People want us to get Folau, JT and SBW and still they'll find something to whine about.

Just hope we're not paying overs.

Anyone know much about Austin? Seemed okay at the panthers but is he the guy to help mentor brooks and moses?

ink exactly right mate, we need to be realistic in who would want to come to a club running second last. we wont sign the superstars, not this year.

austin isnt a mentor, he himself is still learning the trade
however, i think he is a good link player, he has the size for 2nd row, the ability to play in the centre and the skills for the halves, a future utility key player.
he will be a suitable stop gap for moses and then could move into the 2nd row like sironen, but he is a better half than sironen imo.
he is a goal kicker which is a plus
from the few games i have seen of him, he can go missing in games but that may be due to walsh being the dominate half when he played at the riff.
austin makes sense, the riff have soward, john, moylan and coote to fill the halves and one in the fullback role, one as back up
he is a running half rather than a ball playing half so more likely to be 5/8th
as i said i see value in him, as he is young he provided a contingency plan should brooks/moses don't work out, and if we are lucky enough to have all 3 work out, then austin will be a valuable player off the bench (more so than halatau), in that he can play anywhere and from the bench can play a wade graham type role as he develops his body

I havent seen much of Austin but I do recall him being fairly talented and skilful

I think it could be good timing for us with him

Great post nugget, thats how Im feeling it.

we might have got lucky timing wise with all the movements at the riff.

Im liking both if true…

Dont see how people can hate the Austin signing, he's been very good from what ive seen of him...

Patterson could well turn out to be a very good signing, has been mentioned in rep circles before all his dramas if he get back to that we have a great signing..

Patterson is a fantastic signing I think, big hard running skillful backrower and a good influence on the training paddock.

Austin if its him has potential - remember Gus signed him for $700k for 3 years just last year - so I would think they will be paying most of his contract as well which makes him an even better signing

So any leaks coming out of who it might be yet, I'm not getting overly excited I'm thinking more squad players I actually quite like the idea of Wallace though

With all the rumour and people "hearing" who we have signed. There is almost enough to make up a team.

1\. Lachlan Coote
2\. Justin Hunt
3\. Cory Paterson
4\. Israel Folau
6\. Blake Austin
7\. Peter Wallace
8\. Ben Te’o
10\. Michael Weyman
11\. Aidan Guerra
12\. Joe Picker
13\. Reni Maitua

Interchange:
14\. Jason Taumalolo
15\. George Rose
16\. Russell Packer
17\. Michael Morgan

Coach: Tim Sheens

I think your on the money mate!

50 mins to go!
