Wests Tigers sign James Roberts till 2022

Great signing looking forward to watch him to hopefully take off and absolutely burn some other players.

But with his off field issues i feel it's up to us as fans to help him out aswell. Not giving your own players a gobful at the ground or online would be nice.

If we have in fact snagged Roberts for 150k, i think its a signing with great potential value. But i question if this figure is accurate - Why would a player forgo an approx 500k just to sign with the tigers for significantly less? Was he forced out of the rabbitohs?

He was probably actually sacked, but Souths allowed him to "resign" to save face.

I'm really excited about the signing. I expect nothing from next year, but he is fast and talented. Big downside now is that neither of our centres can defend now and both love brain explosions. But that will just add excitement to another dud season.

Worth the risk we need speed. Perhaps what Jet needs is a hard line coach. Hope he gets well and plays well kid has had a tough life.

We all know the pros and cons of James Roberts
None of us know how he'll turn out
I prefer to try be positive about this recruit until we know otherwise

Jimmy has been given a pretty good opportunity, hopefully he makes the most of it. If he can get himself back into the right headspace and form, he could be the buy of the year.

BJ definitely not a second rower. But Talau I would give it a crack. Just don’t think he has the speed to be a centre, but supposedly has some ball playing skills. I would give him a shot.

Madge plays locks as props. He’s just not big enough (yet)

Put speed outside him and he’s be a fine centre, or a big bodied 5/8 - never seen him kick though

I just think we need to have him in the team somewhere. He has developed nicely through the year and the more games he plays the better he gets.

At 150k a year and a club option for the second year then it's win/win for the club.

If we get the best out of Jimmy then he will be a massive asset and a massive improvement on what we have already. If it doesn't work out then we part ways at the end of 21 and its been at minimal cost.

It's definitely worth the risk for me.

Definitely a risk, but on that coin, a low cost risk.
At worst, we don't take the second year option.
At best, we have a bargain
Time will tell.
All in all, I'm happy with this signing.
It's not as if we had others banging the door down to get a start.

Talau screams edge backrower to me . Power . Speed , ball skills. He needs to bulk up , but I definitely see it .

I think Jimmy will do his best for the WTs ...he is talented, offers speed we lack, loves the indiginous pathway and wanted to come here because Madge was the coach...someone said in the JAC thread that JAC didnt want to be here because Madge was the coach, differing opinions...
The one big thing I will say is...maybe Jimmy has had enough of the brotherhood out cleveland street way, they follow each other in everything they do,as I said before ,they drink, shoot, play footy together and dont sing the anthem together.
Some indiginous players handle the piss better than others,Jimmy has mental health issues and mixing them with the brothers grogfests doesnt help,he is asking for help from us the WTs to HELP get his life back on track...at least he has faced his demons and has made the move to better himself...he can only be commended for that...its now up to him to do right by the club that has done right by him....

Power, speed, ball skills... sounds like a centre to me. He’s 92 kegs, if he puts on 10-20kgs he will lose what speed he has.

That’s not true . You can develop muscle mass and maintain speed. Outside of Usain Bolt , how many sprinters are beanpoles . They all look like edge backrowers. Anyways , he belongs on an edge whether it’s in 11 or 3 , all it means is your run the in ball or the out ball and defend either side of your half . It’s not much difference in today’s game
