Wests Tigers sign James Roberts till 2022

I honestly don’t think we need another centre, but he has speed and experience which we’re lacking.

Hopefully he works out to be a bargain.

Wests Tigers are also considering making a play for a Curtis Sironen homecoming as part of a potential swap deal between Manly and Sironen’s former club.

The move could mean Sironen returns to the Tigers which would allow disgruntled prop Josh Aloiai to switch to the Sea Eagles immediately. The Tigers are steadfast in their belief they will not release Aloiai unless they find a suitable replacement and expect him back at training on November 30.

Tigers back-rower Luke Garner could also be part of any trade deal although Tigers officials are adamant he will fulfil the final two years of his deal.

Sironen is off-contract at the end of next year and it is understood the Sea Eagles would consider an opportunity for the 27-year-old to return to the Tigers on a long-term deal.

The Sironen name is synonymous with the Tigers after Curtis’s dad Paul was a star at the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

That will please his dad, I’m sure.

Interesting comment about Garner, I thought it was the club wanting him gone, he is saying it was the other way?

A good signing you can’t sign enough indigenous players.
Does anyone know where that other bloke in the photo gets his haircut from?

Good to have another signing with plenty NRL experience.... We're getting a good balance of youth/experience now I think

If we have in fact snagged Roberts for 150k, i think its a signing with great potential value. But i question if this figure is accurate - Why would a player forgo an approx 500k just to sign with the tigers for significantly less? Was he forced out of the rabbitohs?

He was in a dark place where he was. If he comes back well with us, proves his critics wrong, stays out of mischief, plays well, he'll be getting offered a lot more than 150k in a year or two.

Yeah, wrote at the time that I thought he needed a release from the pressure that his payment demanded in performance and for someone battling the black dog, a pec injury stopping him from living up to expectations and Covid alongside were not helping the mix. If with application and together with appropriate support from WT he can bring out most of the ability that he possesses, it will be a true triumph with a great result for both parties.

They’ve got Aloiai on the tools already (scissors)

Not sure what’s happening with Garner

Good to hear Roberts is pleased with what our club is doing for indigenous people. It really does help not only the community but it helps us sign indigenous players too as they all love being involved in that stuff

Absolute crap, flies in the face of the culture that we have been led to believe was being created by Madge, ownership, growth, accountability, just words, when a broken down has been becomes available.
I'm sorry lads, I'm usually positive about signings, not this one, isn't he managed by Isaac Moses! They never mention his name, just his manager. Five clubs in a decade, all immediate releases, should tell you something about the quality of the injury prone cc player we just brought, and to make matters worse we just helped the bunnies salary cap. Jeez we are such fools

We didn’t help their salary cap at all, he was a free agent already departed Souths. They were impressed by him and he asked for the major pay cut obviously he wants to prove himself. That’s ownership growth and accountability right there as long as he stays true to his word. Plus he’s dirt cheap

How did we help the Bunnies cap? The rest of the post I disagree with as well.

Agreed..a lot of experience walked out the door along with Tamou, Roberts combined injects 300+ NRL games..

If the price is accurate it a good value signing ..plays well it's a big bonus..if he doesn't not a massive chunk tied up..

Someone's learning..
